I have 15mm historicals and I have started to ask my wife and brothers to name 1 or 2 colors and style (quarter, chevron, halves) and that has managed to keep my mounted knights in all different colors and styles. It's a challenge and I am excited to see all the knights you do! So glad to see so much Bretonnia love after so long!
I love metal miniatures. Yes plastic is better but metal over resin any day. The Knight looks fantastic, just like the one you painted yesterday. Castle is from his home and the dragon is a symbol for the dragon he slew while on his quest. Most likely granted him the duell with the green knight and finally the sip of the Grail.
Grail knights in the lore do these amazing feats slaying daemons and monsters of legend but put them on a table top a dragon wipes the floor with a whole unit of them no problem.
Metallics check Yellow check Black check 🙂 I know you’ve already seen the light with the 8th legion, this video gives me hope you will also drift in the direction of the Iron fourth, I know there is plenty of heresy left untapped in you Andy 😉. On a serious note great job on this guy all that black and yellow barding does look stunning and you the get the result that the effort put I; on the edges deserves so I can tell how much work you put into getting that right.
Another great video! Really enjoying this series and how the brilliant paint jobs are progressing, but also the introduction and comments about the Duncan Rhodes paints, this is providing some really cool outcomes!
If you‘re looking for more colour schemes you could always look at sports team for inspiration… like you said in the first grail knight video, that the colours kind match arsenal…
It may be a pain but that yellow was 100% worth it :) great Job Andy! I feel like there are Monty Python jokes about knights and grails but I can't seem to recall lol great video as always can't wait for day 3
I’m working on making all my knights different colours across the whole force. I’m using green in addition to the ‘usual’ 5 to allow for more combinations. I’m also having some where the colours are halved, some quartered and some a single colour. Some have the same colour/s on the barding and shields and some have a contrasting colour on the shields. Throw in different transfers for the charges and each knight should be unique! Great video as always! Looking forward to day 3! 👍
If you can find it or a reference to it, the Bretonnia book from 1996 has an excellent section on heraldry. I really like the fields and blazons section. Like for today's example, the blazons could signify this knight fought in a siege and killed a dragon.
Yeah I’m lucky enough to still have my copy of that book from when I started collecting whfb in 1997. I’ve started to pull schemes from it. Really is a lot of fun!
Yellow actually isn't too bad. My go to recipe these days is Averland Sunset basecoat, shade with Reichland Fleshshade, and highlight with Yriel Yellow. This gives you a nice warm yellow, even over a black basecoat. Now white, white is my personal nemesis... I actually love metal miniatures. My first army was a fully metal Sisters of Battle army, I still enjoy fielding them. I like the weight, it makes things feel... important (for lack of a better word)?
I've had this set of grail knights for about 20 years so they're the original transfers from the kit, not sure yet what new transfers are included in the ones being sold now! You do get transfers with them though
On twitch stream I suggested looking into the gaa county colours for your Bretonian Knights. Also look at sports teams especially in the USA and Australia where the colours will have been researched thoroughly.
Excellent video as always. :) Yellow and black, two of the colors I have the most issues with. My Black Templars have at least four different methods I've tried over the years for painting black. I don't even want to talk about my Legion of the Damned, I don't think they are even highlighted at all (just a few years ago, mid 90s maybe?). I have the 5th? ed starter set and the models are different to the new (heh) knights in the Bretonnian box. I think I'm going to make the older ones into Errant Knights. Still waiting for the foot knights to release, hopefully soon. I could use another box of Knights of the Realm so it would be nice if we got a box set for those as well. I like the metal minis as well but I do enjoy how easy it is to customize the plastic minis. Customizing metals minis sucks and I prefer not to do it if I can.
So, first you painted Optimus Prime and now Bumblebee? Next Ironhide, then Ratchet, Jazz, Cliffjumper, Arcee, Bulkhead you already did... Hound? Cosmos, Blurr, Kup, Wheeljack? The Questing ones in Decepticon colors?
it looks very bright yellow, i wanted to ask since my country i can never get duncan paints, can you kindly share GW alternate paints for duncan's yellow?
Overall great result but leaving grail cup at the back of his cape black is missed opportunity for me... I would go with gold and used that gold on all knights to unify the unit. Cheers!
A yellow and black paint scheme... Well I guess I'd better get started on my Mousillon duke then 😂. Now off to the internet to try and find a nice Hippogriff for him to ride. Still loving the old world content, keep those grail knights coming.
Eventually, sometime next year when we finally get tired of Old World content, I think it would be amazing to see you check out some Non-GW mini games. The models if nothing else, to see how they stack up to the things GW put out.
@@MediocreHobbies That's very true, you do need those views to pay your bills! Maybe a character series where you look at a single mini from another game that just has a sculpt that you find too fascinating to ignore? Otherwise I'd just suggest a once in a while random look at a different wargame just to show people other things exist.
Loving the old world content, please don't stop!
Neverrrr
Another nice scheme, props to anyone that can get yellow to look good without an airbrush
It’s the paint, not me 😄
God damn that yellow is eye searingly bright 😮 Looks amazing.
The two thin coats range is really good for the those bright highlights!

That's such a good way of doing it! I know, it feels amazing to be seeing them back on the table again
Another great video! Definitely going to use this for the Brets & Vamps I'll be doing in a Mousillon army!
Oh sweet that sounds so cool

Love the lore background!

@@Dryzual At least now the rules reflect the fluff that they are the best Knights in the old world. (even better than Chosen Chaos Knights)
Yeah they’re a lot tougher now! Love the knight story too!
Very nice! Love the brightness and I really should try painting a brighter army some day!
Yeah it's cool to push some models brighter, even if it's not a full army!
Personally I'm looking forward to "Panic Painting Peasants Phriday"
Hahaha I’m painting them during my streams this week 😅
Metallics check
Yellow check

Hahahaha god damn it 🤦♂️
Wow. Just wow. That yellow is amazing. Its so nice and crisp. Very nicely done.
It's all the paint! Definitely worth trying the range if you can!
Man I look forward to these videos, can't wait for tomorrows! They break up my work day!
Aw that’s so nice to hear! Glad you’re enjoying them!
Another great video! Really enjoying this series and how the brilliant paint jobs are progressing, but also the introduction and comments about the Duncan Rhodes paints, this is providing some really cool outcomes!
Awesome, thank you! Yeah they’re great paints, worth getting a couple of triads to test out for yourself!

That’s a great idea.

I feel like there are Monty Python jokes about knights and grails but I can't seem to recall lol great video as always can't wait for day 3
Hahaha I know there should be way more Monty python references 😄
Wonderful work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Another fantastic video!!
Glad you enjoyed it John!

That’s awesome, would love to see them if you post them anywhere!
And yes that book is an excellent resource!
Yeah I’m lucky enough to still have my copy of that book from when I started collecting whfb in 1997. I’ve started to pull schemes from it. Really is a lot of fun!
I am absolutely loving Old World. Just bought Settra the Imperishable and some Ushabti after a few pints. Woops.
Hahahaha love it! 🍻
Nice. I never could do a different scheme for each knight, but that look so cool.
Yeah I’d never be able to do it across the army but this unit is special so I’m doing my best with it!

i like how paint flows off the brush onto metal. somthing about the slight texture as compared to smooth plastic
I’ll be doing white soon so maybe I can help! And yes metal just feels better!
Pro acryl titanium white, is the best white I have ever used. Cant recommend it enough
Steelers colour scheme !!! 🎉
Hahaha i'm learning so many sports ball teams, who knew warhammer would lead to that :D
The yellow/black scheme looks great. I’ve ordered the skin tones from TTCs, can’t wait to try them.
Oh you'll love them, I find it very hard to use anything else for skin tones after getting them!
Great scheme! Qq, where do you take tranfers from? Are these GW?
I've had this set of grail knights for about 20 years so they're the original transfers from the kit, not sure yet what new transfers are included in the ones being sold now! You do get transfers with them though
It looks very nice, i do wish however you would do something about their hooves, i find it odd that the hair and hoof ends up being the same color
Once the tuffs go in at the end and they’re on their movement trays you won’t notice 😄
Love the Gone in 60 Seconds reference 😂
Glad someone got it 😄
Question for you Andy - can multiple characters attach to a single squad?
Yep as many as you want.
sewer is my go for leather to, its look so good
Yeah it's the perfect tone of brown for it
Nice scheme (and nice reference to Gone in 60 Seconds 😉). The name for all the leather straps etc on horses is "tack". Keep up the positivity!
Haha glad you caught it!
And thank you! I’m sorry if I forget that in the next video but thank you for the word!
All hail Grail Knight week
Yes indeed
On twitch stream I suggested looking into the gaa county colours for your Bretonian Knights. Also look at sports teams especially in the USA and Australia where the colours will have been researched thoroughly.
I seem to be accidentally doing sports ball team colours anyway 😄
Superb.
Thank you!
Do one knight for each space marine legion!!!
Hahaha good idea

You should check out my black templar playlist. I have an easy scheme for them.
Black/Yellow reminds me then of Parravon Bretonnia, very nice yet again. Dont know whats my fav color scheme. Maybe Blue/Yellow
Yeah there’s a lot of nice colour combos, might use blue/yellow for something!
Hahahaha damn it. It’s not a bad idea though 😂
@@MediocreHobbies Well, the next was Knight, Michael Knight.
it looks very bright yellow, i wanted to ask since my country i can never get duncan paints, can you kindly share GW alternate paints for duncan's yellow?
Duncan has some conversion charts! Hope they help! transatlantisgames.com/two-thin-coats-charts/

Fair point!
👍👍👍👍
🙌
What varnish did you use?
I use Munitorium Varnish from GW-any matt varnish will work!

Please share when you get him done! Or even when you get your hippogriff sorted!
OLD WORLD! OLD WORLD! OLD WORLD!
🙌🙌🙌
nice
Thanks
More old world content. There's not enough on YT
Always happy to hear that! More on the way!
Cool tutorial. 🏇
Thanks!

I do 3d printed content as well! It's just hard to pick games people will be interested in enough vs making a GW related one!

They call him Le Wasp
😂
so you started with arsenal fc and now doing watford fc 😂😂 jkjk
Hahaha damn it
