Hey mate amazing work very calming and love the style! I also just ordered a Nikon ZF and heading over to Hokkaido in December to test it out. From Sydney
Thanks! But no, this is my own edit. If you want to see what the presets look like check out this video: Nikon Zf in Black and White ONLY #nikonzf #tokyostreet #blackandwhite ua-cam.com/video/cH_rdviKfEg/v-deo.html
Thanks! I edit my images in Adobe Camera Raw and then some photoshop if needed, like erasing stuff, etc. My only tip would be if you have a hard time editing finding some free pre-sets you like online can help speed things up. Lots out there for sure.
@@jasonhalaykophotography when you move the camera out to shoot, you are still using the same camera to film? Just trying to figure out the perspective :)
As someone who uses both, nikon zf and nikon z8, would you say which is better in low light? Because I read all kinds of conflicting opinions about higher iso on these cameras. Great video! I wish you wonderful and successful year! 🙏🏻✌🏻
Thanks!! I have not shot with the Z8 so can’t say too much, but I know that in low light the AF of the Zf is amazing, and I think it’s IBIS is good enough that you can shoot slower shutter speeds, thus keeping the ISO lower than maybe the Z8. Hope that helps, and I hope you have a wonderful year as well!
I enjoyed the video and some nice shots in there. Just wondering why not many shots of people coming directly towards you? I genuinely am asking with all due respect. is it a confidence thing or preference? There is so much in the way of human expression and emotion that can be captured up close and head on. Cheers, and I wish you all the best.
Thanks for checking out the video and leaving a comment! Not shooting people straight on is more of a preference thing than anything else. I prefer to stay out of sight of my subjects as much as possible and as I tend to shoot with 50mm or 85mm so kinda close in my opinion.
@@jasonhalaykophotography Fair enough. Thanks for the response. Thats the beauty of photography, we all get to shoot however we like. I just followed you in Insta. Cheers.
Another great video, Jason. I really like your use of subtitles to explain your thought process as you went through your potential shots. Tokyo is very tasty eye candy for street shooting. BTW, what AF mode did you predominantly use for your shots with people in the frame?
Thanks! Your comment means a lot. The subtitles were an idea I saw someone else do and I liked it. Easier than voice over for sure. I generally had my AF to face recognition on, and then I set it to a focus box (size changes here and there) so I can think about my composition before taking a shot.
@@mikebreazeale2563 cheers!! It’s a super great lens, I’m sure you will get some sick shots with it! And thanks for saying you are looking forward to my next video, means a lot!!
Great video Jason. NIce shots also. Can't wait to get my hands on a ZF.
Cheers! Much appreciated! Hope you get it soon ✌️
Thank you! My favourite… the man on the stairs at 05:40.
Thanks!! I like that shot too ❤️
Great video Jason, didn't expect to love the look of 85mm for street photography so much!
Thanks!! I love how it gets me back a little bit from the subjects so I am not so noticeable but can still get relatively up-close photos if I want.
Perfect camera for street photography
I think it really is!

Thanks! Hope you have a great trip in Hokkaido! Going to Niseko?
Yep hitting the slopes of Niseko! Hoping to get some good photos and ski for a few days there!@@jasonhalaykophotography
@@ioriha86 sick! I hope you get some epic powder runs!
New camera and new locations make everything “photo worthy “! 😂👍🏾
It do be like that eh, hahaha. But hey, that’s the fun of being a photographer!
I wouldn’t mind seeing the black and white jpegs out of camera instead of only the processed ones.
That is a good idea…should have done a few of those. Maybe once I get the camera I’ll try that.
Nice preset the black and white. Is this a preset from the Zf? GREAT Fotos and Cam

Nice photos and video. What did you use to shoot video?
Used the Nikon Zf for photo and videos. It takes quite nice video if you don't mind the DX crop when shooting 4k 60p.

@@pkfkkknk ah, the pov shooting. Sorry, I miss understood. That is a GoPro strapped to my chest. Easiest way to get pov footage when shooting.
Nice video, but I think this is Ryogoku, not Ryokoku.
I stayed in this area for 3 months and I remember the McDonalds in the corner 😅
Hey, thanks for pointing that out. Looking back through at the station signs it looks like you are correct. Cheers!
