In this video, I continue my journey of combining my obsession of MCYT with crafting, but this time I have technology on my side. I set out to figure out if it’s possible to 3D print the amazing @GeminiTayMC Hermitcraft Season 9 Megabase. Also with a little bonus, Hermit build print of @GoodTimesWithScar Scarland Castle!
Shout out to @RcktScntst who inspired the Hermit 3D print Idea!!

Can you share the 3d modles?
The most important thing about resin is not breathing it, especially if you're going to use that printer more often moving forward.
Put it in a room you don't use very often and close the door so that any fumes won't settle down around your house.
Great one
i was like yooo this sponsor sounds dope, wait, there will be a like 15 bucks a month subscription fee... ITS FREEEEE!?!?!?! WHATTT
also the making part of this video and the software was suprisingly the most interesting part to me. very cool.
Don't worry, Scarland fired all the lawyers so we had more money for Churros lol The castle looks fantastic and what a wonderful video :D
good, we need the churros.
Churros are always more important than lawyers. Good budget management scar!
HA! Now that sounds like a good business model right there. I'm so glad you liked the 3D print and the video!! It means a lot coming from you :)
Of course! We couldn’t possibly have lawyers instead of churros!
do not fear, hotguy is here!
This is so cool! omg
YASS
So True!
It's gotta be super neat to have one of your projects you worked on for years be so beloved that someone took the time to replicate it in real life! Love it!
was wondering if you would show up :)

“Since it’s in the back…”
Ah yes, the true spirit of Hermitcraft is captured in this build.
Exactly my thoughts!
Grian: "I raised that girl."
@discochaotica "look at what you've done to my girl"
the fact that the Scarland castle was just a side quest kinda blows my mind
Not all the Etho heads 😭😭 I love that she scattered them all around her base, it made for a nice easter egg, but also nooo Ethooo 😂
She could've used commands to replace the head block with sand or air blocks.
The shade thrown on Mumbo's base was savage.
Deserved 😂
@@domspeller6474 Yeah. Though, I should probably clarify that it's deserved shade on base, not on Mumbo. Him struggling with that build made for good content. Sometimes a failure is just as spectacular as success.
a shade that the base does not produce
@@crdmunderrated comment lmao
The resin is not just toxic to touch but toxic to breathe. Resin printers contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in higher concentrations than FDM printers. VOCs are gases that can evaporate or leach out during the printing and post-processing stages. In large doses or after prolonged exposure, VOCs can be a potential health hazard. Please do your printing in a well ventilated area!
Amazing work! May I suggest something with resin printing? After you have solidified a model, hollow it again in your slicer (I like 3mm walls) and add some drainage holes.
It saves a lot of resin and the solid interior isn’t as fully cured as the outside after it gets its second cure and can still cause splits.
I’ve been resin printing for years as part of my job and it’s always a learning curve - you did a spectacular job and should be so proud of yourself!
First somebody printed DO2, now Gem's Castle. I can't wait for all the "printing hermitcraft" channels to do a collab and make the entire world download
Imagine a 3d print of every season so you can mix and match mega builds
That would just be absolutely insane but also the coolest thing ever.
Whoever has to figure out how to do Etho's base: "Lord give me strength."
No way, I'd guess it'd be best to pick and choose the interesting parts to print. Then do some work to shorten the distance and meld them together.
Minecraft is huge.
build the (hermitcraft) earth
The wow at HotGuy's poster was amazing

Another Issue that might have been contributing to print failure was that you were printing in front of a window. I have both and SLA and FDM printer, and I've found that for my Elegoo
1) any UV light from the sun can start the curing process so it would have been better to have the blinds closed until the hood was on for printing.
2) TEMPERATURE can cause warping and failure of UV resin. so even if you opened the binds back up, the heating and cooling sitting in front of the window could contribute to failure,
other than those two notes, well done. hope you stick with the 3d printing its a fun hobby.
Omg Geminislay
I love the way you show the whole process!
As an avid Hermitcraft watcher, I love it when people outside of Hermitcraft talk about Hermitcraft and make videos about it, and your DIY projects might be my favorite Hermitcraft related videos I’ve watched!
Using the timelapse and intro music of different Hermits for some of the segments was a really nice touch as well!
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this!
Yes! I agree 100% it’s so nice to see hermitcraft content outside of the server 🥰 loved the music segments and this whole video so much!
This video was really great for the in between season blues 😇

I love that the moment you went for scarland castle, that ‘superfast build mode’ music started playing.

That's awesome! You got a lot of things right on the first try, considering you never used a 3D printer before, good job! There are obviously some pitfalls in the resin 3D printing process, some of which you've encountered, and which gave you some problems after printing. For example, if you ever decide to print more Minecraft exports (or anything else basically): large, flat areas are bad for the process because they start out as an incredibly thin, flimsy layer of barely cured resin that has to hold itself together and that has almost no structural stability when peeling off the film on the bottom of the resin vat, hence the warping on that one large, flat area. To avoid that, it is good to rotate the model such that none of those areas is parallel to the buildplate, for example, if printing a cube, balancing it on one of the corners and holding it up with supports should help a lot. Additionally, if you ever decide to print some bigger things or things that need to be strong (like cosplay props), I'd recommend the filament printers, since a) they are less messy, b) the parts are way stronger, c) you have way more freedom in certain areas, d) the material is cheaper and you don't have to print your models solid throughout. The resin process is better for miniatures and things with fine detail, that's why people often use it for DnD minifigs and other detailed stuff.
Yo thanks that's really helpful! I always saw people tilt their models but I thought it was something to do with the print layers. I'll keep these tips in mind for future prints :D
@@JessLess happy to help! If you ever have more questions about anything 3D printing, feel free to ask :)
Scar's "super fast build mode" music is ICONIC and will forever be stuck in my head.
I watched the whole hermitcraft season from gem's POV and I absolutly loved it. That's why I'm so exited to see you create her amazing mega base
I missed the entirety of s9 for some other pretty toxic fandom and coming back to hermitcraft is such a nice change of pace

Hi, two points:
1) Thank you for showing the process of 3D printing and how the main struggle is with software programs. I need to learn 3D printing for my own business.
2) Don't ever feel bad about the tiny brush. My best painting that got noticed by a professional fantasy illustrator was done only using a 000 brush.
Resin printer tip: dont keep it by sunlight when printing. Even with the cover on!
Be sure to keep the area you work in well ventilated. It could also be helpful to have a respirator to wear
You absolutely have to wear a respirator when working with any amount of liquid resin, none of the various fumes it gives off are safe no matter how you look at it.
just PLEASE wear a respirator (made to filter organic vapors at least up to 20x the officially "safe" limit, or you’ll die anyway)
or buy a laboratory grade fume hood if you don’t care what money is
You do realize that this did not help me in convincing myself that I don't "need" a resin 3D printer.....
This is such an amazing project and love the style and aesthetic you have for all of these projects! I am so happy and proud of what you have done. I discovered you through your recreation of Grian's starter base, and have been here ever since. Keep up the hard work! I hope to eventually have a portion of your skill in stuff like this!
I have a filament printer and omg I super want a resin printer. Like so much. I’ve just started watching, but just be sure you have better ventilation and stuff. Resin printers need more ‘accessories’ and space because they’re super toxic.
@truckerdave8465 I've actually done a little bit of research into resin printing, and I quickly learned about how toxic it was and the need for good ventilation. Appreciate the heads up.
@@MichaelHardmanMinecraftDragon Good! But also let me enable you, we totally need resin printers! Lol
I hope Gem sees this!!! It’s so incredible!
She saw it! She left a comment. I'm so glad she did!
Love the print! I’m glad you got inspiration from my print of Tango’s base! Keep up the good work.
Your minecraft avatar looks like she could be Grian's sister....
Nice choice of base to print...Gem is a wonderful artist and she'll be thrilled to see this I'm sure. Hopefully she does.
Also, nice detail with playing Scar's Superfast Buildmode theme song quietly in the background.
My Uncle adores hand painting miniatures, he airbrushes nothing and his ombres and fades are fantastic, seeing you paint this made me think of him. He probably wouldn’t like the hassle of 3D printing but he loves the painting part. The addition of the hot glue felt so right!
If you're getting into resin printing I recommend transitioning from Chitubox to Lychee Slicer, it automatically detects and supports islands and cuts down on prep time immensely.
I love this! Gem is great ❤
As a maker who knows a lot of resin people, I highly recommend getting a respirator and an exhaust fan if youre going to keep this setup in a space youre living in
3d printing is so cool! Ive always wanted to do it
Greetings from the Warhammer 40k Fandom! We paint mini's all the time, it's a lot of fun once you get the basics down! You did great with this project!
either print with a raft which is basically a angled edge so you can get your blade in easier OR get something like a magnetic flexible build plate that attaches and detaches and you can just bend it a bit and itll pop the models off easier
ah the joys of 3d printing. that came out incredible! ive never considered 3d printing anything from minecraft before. i can see why. props to you on sticking with it and being patient enough. i probably wouldve gave up after a day lol
Watching Nerdforge in the background while working on a project is so real omg
Amazing! Always a joy to see your videos
This is amazing! So beautiful, so well result in the end! Congrats!
Good job! I also like how you used the music depending on the Hermits base you're working on ^^
This looks amazing as always! I'm glad you were able to perservere through the challenges you faced to bring forth this beautiful final product!
Im happy i saw this video since now I know how to make those really cool world section cut outs.
This looks amazing. And I love that your process was conveyed very much relatable. Great vid!
What an awesome project! Thanks for showing the whole process including the struggles, the test projects, and the whole workflow involved! Really made the final result that much more satisfying. I need to try something similar one of these days!
Just found your channel and love it! This episode is amazing and I’m so glad you put all your struggles in as well! Now I need to go back and watch all your older videos!! ❤❤
This is so amazing!!! Good job, well done!!!
Incredible work! Your perseverance through all the technical difficulties was so impressive. The final product looks lovely!
this is so cool!!! absolutely loved gems build and it looks so cute as a minifig! also i loved the way you explained the whole process of learning how to 3D print!
Holy hell this was incredible!! I really enjoyed this video and the editing was smashing! Great job!
What a cool project! My retention was certainly held through to the end, subscribed! :D
This is just an idea but, how about making the whole server as a miniature map irl. Like the miniatures you are doing but all put together to make a map possibly for DnD?
every time i finish one of your videos i just feel so inspired. like, i wanna make a mini megabase!!! you just have all these cool ideas that i could've never thought up in a million years. a river made of hot glue?? thats so smart!!! keep making these awesome videos
This is epic also love the super fast build mode at the Scarland part!
first of all, amazing video, second of all, thx so much for explaining the process and struggles you went through, some day I wanna print a minecraft base too and being told all the programs and magic buttons will probably make the struggle quite a bit more bearable if I ever try this.
Looking awesome! Props! Deserves to be more known. Got my subscribe.
this whole process was absolutely amazing, it looks so good!!
Love this. I really enjoy watching the different ways people bring this type of creation into the real world. Also love the moon shelf,I have one with a kitty on the moon.
i have been dying for someone to create a mini version of the hermits bases or minis in general so this makes my day. i love it and i also hope that your next challenge will go by nicely.
This was really neat, and real cool to see the process and roadblocks you had with learning how to use the resin printer! Can't wait to see what's next!
1st time watching you, and 12 min in when u talked about the main idea of the video not even started yet made me realize that u make it interesting. Subbed
my gosh this is incredible!!

2. This was amazing, the model looks great, and I’m subscribing. ❤
This looks amazing!! Also my vote for the next one is the 5am Pearl tower (with a mini Tilly and Pearlo to go with it)
just got your video recommended. Next to the fact, that you looks absolutely beautiful and your smile/laugh is super cute, I loved to watch Gems Megabase coming together over the last 2 years and to see this heck of a difficult way to finally get this printed Megabase into the real world was just a magnificent experience. Thanks for your creativity to find solutions to these problems. Ill check out your prior work after this vdeo, but Im pretty confident, a follow here will be a good thing for the future to see more of this kind of content.Have a nice day

DUUUUDE! That's friggin awesome! 😃
Awesome project, awesome work, awesome video!
You rocked this, found a new follower thats excited to see more of your ideas and personality, inspired me for some projects that are now on my agenda and i may or may not have ordered a used 3d printer in the midst of watching 🤫😄🙏🏻
...never thought of buying one used, so, thanks for the tip 😁👌🏻

This looks insanely cool
Your an amazing artist this is wonderful
I won't lie, I think you pretty much did a crash course on 3D / 3D printing with this project. You're a beast chief !
Absolutely amazing! Definitely subscribing!
I haven't sifted through all the comments so I'm not sure if anyone's said it before, but: I recommend glueing parts together before curing your resin. That way the parts line up perfectly before the cure warps/shrinks things in a way that might make that harder later on.
