SUCCESS in the Kitchen of Mary!!!! Never a failure, just one step closer to perfection and making each recipe your own! ♥♥♥ I'm so happy that you didn't give up. 🤗
Hello Mary. I love watching your videos as you strive to learn more and don’t give up. I also love that you show when you make mistakes and then discuss how you’ll fix it next time. You do you lady and we’ll watch as you get more experience and succeed!
Yes, keep yeast in the freezer. I can usually get 6 to 8 yrs out of it by storing it that way. I pull it out, use it right away and put it back within a few minutes. Changing temp by leaving out for a bit and then putting back in freezer (back and forth) will shorten the life otherwise. Same goes for garden seed storage in freezer or fridge. I wouldn't freeze the luffa seed though . Your room temp was probably too cool to proof the pretzle dough well. Turn oven to 200 for about 3-5 min. Turn off heat and place dough bowl in oven to proof. Make sure it's covered so it doesn't dry out. Platic wrap over the bowl or a silicone lid works well. Yeast breads take 2-3 hrs for two risings before they are ready to bake off. You are learning a lot. Keep it up!
Thanks so much for these tips! I thought the yeast had to come to room temp after being in the freezer, so I probably had it out too long each time I took it out. That might be my issue! I appreciate the thoughts here. I plan on trying the pretzel recipe again!
Everything you made looked delicious. I think you were being too hard on yourself with the pretzels. They look like they would be awesome. Great job. God bless you and your family. Duane.
Looks delicious. I canned a green tomato curry recipe from 1870s Homestead, we had to put it in the blender due to texture issues. It is good. Keep trying new recipes, just do a small batch first to taste. I thought I would love a pickled cabbage recipe, and maybe a different one, but I did 14 quarts and OMG, it was disgusting. I hate wasting anything, but neither my husband nor I could tolerate it. I tried doctoring it up, and nothing helped. But due to the salt and vinegar, I was concerned about composting it. So I took the bucket full to the tree line 4 acres away. And nothing has touched it, we are surrounded by woods and wildlife and nothing will eat it?? That says it all.
Oh no!! Unfortunately not every recipe turns out - I’ve definitely learned that! Learning things the hard way is tough, at least you can have a good sense of humor and look back and laugh about it. That’s what gets me through!

I feel you I have no luck with any type of bread
I’m gonna try a little harder this year! 🤞🏼
