Man. This was 20 years ago now. I remember buying "Something Wild" as a pure risk. I never heard of them just bought the album because someone told me they were supposed to sound a certain way. That was enough for me and was BLOWN AWAY! They we not anywhere close to what I was told. I loved every album up until album 4 or 5. Then I kind of lost interest. I was VERY excited for Bodom After Midnight and was crushed when he passed away. I think this hit me more than losing Chuck and Dimebag. Maybe because I felt he was on the verge of a comeback and the two BAM songs and the Dissection cover was SO GOOD. I'm glad I did see them play live once playing with Dimmu and Hypocrisy.
Thsts how I felt with Jons passing..he went to tour Mexico. But they sold tickets for US..couldn't get into the states..theb we all know what happened...imagine thst buying tickets and then the singer offs himself..rip Jon
I went to this same concert in San Fran..gosh had to be back in 2001? I know it was their first time to the U.S. they absolutely killed it. They were as advertised and I got to see them 2 more times. Simpler times, definitely miss going to shows.
One thing is a guy who trains months to nail the solos and lines. Laiho use to do it almost like careless... seemed so easy. What a f... talent! 4ever missed, Wild Child! R.I.P.

I always loved and appreciated that when you saw them live they played the songs faithfully to the album version. So well rehearsed and fluid. The chemistry of the band was amazing. Dueling solos. I loved COB. Glad I saw them 3 times before the end.
seeing these guys live during this era would be my #1 concert experience, if it was possible to name a #1. I wasn’t there to see them either, but they picked me up and took me soaring through the cosmos, put the headliner to absolute shame

One of my good friends in high school introduced me to this band. He burned me a CD with all his favorite tracks and made a front and back cover with a track list. The front cover was a picture of Alexi performing at this exact show. Its now Dec 2023 and I am just now realizing where that picture came from, 20 years later... Fuck I'm getting old...

Little bit late here but still wanted to say this. First of all this comment is beautiful. Second of all i didn’t grow up with his music or anything like that. I actually only found out about bodom a couple of months ago through my finnish friend and he instantly became my favourite musician of all time that helped me through a pretty dark time and made me pick up a guitar along withc Chuck Schuldiner. I wish i was born in the right time to enjoy what he created at the time. Take care man
