@@MrPatwag old school was different and we could have these cards. Modern is an entirely different situation tho. I was born in '02 and have played modern ygo for years now, competitively and casually, and its done more bad than good. Old school is just simply better.

I play the 2005 world championship game for gameboy and actually use the winning deck that was used for the 2005 championship. Chaos/Zombies. The fact that at the time there were alot of "Destroy monster" card effects makes the deck so good (this was a deck that won when the Darkworld deck was a thing)
@@waluigi8994 Not these days, I had terrible luck in a local tournament, mainly because I only own cars from 2000 through 2008. Fuck the meta, fuck all these new cards. Nothing compares to a Joey Starter deck lol.

Decks like this used to be playable in duel links then they made the game fast af to bring more players in with "o shid i used to play that archetype" packs
It's a shame, I always thought Duel Link was supposed to be a slower version of the game with old school cards. They had a real chance to balance the game but added to much stuff.
Nice dude, great piece of nostalgia. Loved that all your magic and trap cards were from the booster packs, not the starter decks that we used to get back in the day just for the Raigekis and Monster Reborns and Dark Holes.
I remember when Strike of Neos was released me and a friend went to the sneak peak and there was these two older guys playing a variant of Clown Control with Stumbling and Neo Spacian Grand Mole. It was annoying lol
I know these cards weren't out quite yet in 2002, but it made me think of some other cool old-school cards to add to this deck. Use Light of Intervention to get your Crass Clown to face-up defense position immediately and also stop your opponent's Magician of Faiths, Man-Eater Bugs, and Jars. The only way it'd hurt you is it might stop you from using Cyber Jar. A better option might actually be Stumbling if you're wanting to use more flip-effects yourself. Also use Labyrinth of Nightmare to crank up that clown ownage potential.
Back when duel links started I loved climbing ladder with dream clown, crass clown, labyrinth, tragedy, and so on. Fun times, though i doubt there will ever be any kind of way to make their strategy compete with today’s duel links.
Oldest YGO: Back in my days we never got these Synchros, Xyzs, Pendulums and Links. We play only Normal, Effects, Rituals and Fusion nothing more. Forgot it's about having fun not tournament plays.
Oh man we talked about this deck in the comments! I won countless local tournaments with this deck back in '02 and '03. Jinzo #07 was such a hard card to comeby; i'm not sure if it was short print but I remember it was a BITCH to find them. I can't remember what set it was from but later on they added the trap that changed the position of all monsters on the field which made the deck insane too; if you could cyber jar and get 2 dream clowns you could play that trap and destroy their team.
I’d love to see a game like duel links that starts back at the beginning of yugioh and slowly releases new boxes, but i would want it to not have all the microtransactions and less of a difficult time getting good cards. They should also include trading and use the standard tech rule set rather than the speed duel format. I heard there was a new yugioh online dueling game but it released with all the cards supposedly so i don’t see the point of having as many of the old cards if the newer ones exist and are better.
How effective competitively would this deck be today though? I feel like it would get obliterated by these meta decks that everyone seems to use. Personally I rarely use meta decks. My best deck I don't even think I'd even be allowed to use in a tournament setting since I don't know what the current ban list looks like. It's boss monsters are Chaos Emperor Dragon: EOTE and Black Luster Soldier: EOTB. I also have a powerful XYZ and Synchro monster in the deck. It also has a bunch of protection cards like Wall of Revealing Light, Mirror Force, Swords of Revealing Light, Negate Attack, Magic Jammer, Seven Tools of the Bandit, Heavy Storm, 2 Mystical Space Typhoons, Mausoleum of the Emperor, and a bunch of other powerful traps and spells. It also has quite a few useful 4 star or less staller monsters that are easy to summon with either high defense or high attack stats. None of my other decks stand up well against it.
@@SKRUNKLES I'm old school so in today's world of meta decks, where players build decks designed only to OTK their opponent by using cards to excavate half their deck and spamming special summons across the board, my deck probably wouldn't last but I don't play that way. I like to have fun. I'd say my deck would do well in an old school Yugioh setting before Pendulum and Link monsters. It would be pretty powerful in that setting.
What about the fusion?!?!?! There was a fusion just for the clowns, it's called BICKURIBOX! I know that the fusion meta wasn't as good back then, but still!
