@@pideperdonus2 its not that bad and most of the time you wanna buy an upgrade or something anyway, but we could maybe let the player choose to start the new wave right away
I think it would be cool if the rain changed the gameplay slightly, like making the slimes stronger or adding special rain-exclusive slimes. In addition, I think some splashing particles/puddles on the ground would make a huge visual difference. Keep up the good work!
Maybe not something so abstract. It could make the floor slippery, for example. Although, to be honest, just the way the clouds obstruct your entire screen view already feels like enough of a change.
In my opinion, if the waves are short, you should be able to press a button and immediately go to the next wave. Also, rain days should be a bit harder than normal days.
Thanks for inspiring my indie game dev journey. After watching the first parts of this series it inspired me to start learning C# and Unity. I am now decently confident in the language. I just want to thank you for this super underrated series that inspired me, and I can’t wait for the game to come out!
Nice progress and I love the game mode referencing the original. For the rainy days it’d be nice to have the rain particles be on the label instead of attached to the camera. Maybe a nice splash effect for the rain droplets too.
With the rain i think some changes can ba made. For example making certain slimes only spwan in rainy weather. Also maybe the slimes grow faster since they become filled with water. Would be cool if lighting was there too maybe changes the property of a slime if one is hit. Also can't wait for this game to release. Keep up the good work 🙂
4:41 If i was trying to play, have fun, go for a high score, I would get so bored having to go to bed each night and walk back to the arena and have a pop up interrupt me. Keep the rounds coming and the player in the arena until they want to go buy something. I love wave based shooters. I hope to see this be a good one ❤
One thing I noticed in the video is that when the slimes are knocked over a pit, they just float there, so I think you should implement something to make it so they either fall into the pit and die or just can't fall into the pit as if it's a wall
For Slime Rush, you should have a sign in front of the house. When interacted with, it says what there is in each of the four rooms Ex: North: Health and Ammo South: Arena East : Upgrades West : Weapons
For the weather system I would suggest adding a weather for every (or most) colors of the rainbow (rain being blue), because currently I think the pure green aesthetic can get really stale so being able to spice that up would be awesome
Maybe like a final final boss, if you get what I’m saying. Like to 100% the game as sort of a final challenge to beat the game. Just a suggestion, watched the series from the beginning. Love the game and the channel! Can’t wait for the game to release.
Someone may have already suggested this (as I see some other rain related suggestions) but for the effect I wouldn’t have it tied to player movement. it should cover the screen but when the player moves the rain should exist in its own local space because it looks a little strange for the player to move left and the rain kinda tag along in that movement
Happy 50th! Feels like we've been working in parallel all these years. So much goodness in this devlog - how do you know when to pause dev to make a new one? I've struggled with that myself.
Thanks as always rob! Right now I’m actually working a bit ahead of the devlogs, so I currently have enough content to make the next to, I just need to write scripts and edit them. But for when to stop, it’s really just when I get burnt out from developing, and just feel like I need a break and to do something else.
@@RobLang sort of. I just have a big trello board with different lists for high priority/low priority bugs, features and all that good stuff, and I just kind of make my way through the lists slowly yet surely.

Maybe add some signs or smth to the room entrances, so the player would know what there is. If a player went straight down to the fighting room, they would have no idea that there are the upgrade and shop rooms. Otherwise Slime Rush is a good addition
I actually have a good idea A gamemode where you start with extra HP, but you can never recover health. So if you take damage, it's a permanent loss of 1HP
Ok, well I just woke up and found out there was a devlog, and im too tired to come up with unique ideas so ill just repeat last times, add a cat gun and allow the slime pets dialouge to be turned off
1:37 Honestly, i think that all of this text will probably not be read by a majority of the players, or it would become too bloated. Instead , i think you should make certain symbols representing the different things
personally i think you should have the room for the slime rush randomize the layout inside the arena to a few set scenes for more variety and maybe a way to toggle on a challenge mode for the slime rush where you are forced to do either 5 waves at a time or as many as you can with the shops in the walls opening in between spawning of enemies or even bosses i have plenty of ideas of how to do exactly what i mean but im not really good at getting my point across sorry (sorry for the lack of punctuation as well) cant wait to play the game myself
I would recommend making another mode, boss rush, where you can run through all bosses all the way up to the last boss youve either beaten or encountered, you can make it so you do the bosses in order, or allow the player to select
i think you should add an option for other color palettes, the game looks great but the highly saturated green can be very eye straining in long sessions
In the Slime Rush mode, it should be clearer which hallways lead to shops and which one leads to the arena, or at least make a confirm for starting the round, because then the player wouldn't just wander into the arena without fully knowing what was going on.
You should add some sort of sign in the wave gamemode hub room to indicate which room is the battle room, the shop room, ect. and add some sort of warning before a monster spawns so you don't get telefragged by one when it spawns
i think the rain particles don't stand out enough and would be a lot cooler if they were more thin and white like the pet slime outline also pls add night time
Maybe instead of making the player sleep to start a new wave (which could get a bit tedious imo), you could have like a little idol or something that spawns at the end of a round in the middle of the room that the player can interact with to start the next wave.
I think the rain should get more common the further into the game you are. For example, the first few days have like a 1 in 10 chance of raining, while the last few days are almost guaranteed to rain at least once. Even better if the actual rain effects are very light at the beginning, while there is a complete thunderstorm at the end.
the room in wave gamemode should have some variety or be even randomly generated so it doesn't get too boring and stale, and you should make it possible to buy normall weapons but better so if someone gets to realy far wave he get's a chance of beating it
I like the idea for slime rush, but I feel like you should have some way to tell that going down starts combat and you can't go back. I'm also not crazy about having to go back to bed to progress. I feel like if you got teleported back to the main area after beating a round, you could just go down to play again. I feel like that would flow more naturally.
you should make the slime icon at the top left have different emotions, like owie when you get hit, happy when you heal, etc... like the thing from doom eternal
@benbonk you could add a nightmare/slimemare mode which reduces your max health to 3 and remixed enemies and bosses plus you could add a hardcore mode using the remixed slimes and bosses except the player has 1 health (it might be a bit difficult to make though but would help replayability)
Can you make the basement bigger? It's pretty smal. The objects in it are pretty important but super small and in my opinion it's hard to tell what they are so I think you should make them bigger too.
2:50 i think it would be nice if you added some signs that showed what was in the next room, especially for the enemy (bottom) room; it would suck to walk into that room first and get trapped in without grabbing any loot first 😪
Hi, i am new here but i think it will be helpful to know total no of silmes in one wave(3(killed)/??(total no ) as 3/7) maybe helpful and to start new wave, do we have to sleep?. As we can immediately start new wave until player pauses for next wave for upgrades and i think it will be little tedious to upgrade in shop/ammo every wave and start next day. Nice game overall wishlisting now!
i think it would be cool if a strong enemy would be green and blue because together it combines green it would be a cool boss and gives some new color to the game
Please Keep slimekeep as a infinite game that you can play forever with no limit to how many days a game is. One more question if you die to you restart or respawn in the house.
YO Ben bonk after watching this isn’t it a good idea if slimes tried to attack your house in this mode, like a house defend game mode could be really fun
I think the stats of the weapons should only be displayed in the shop if you already used/bought the weapon. Otherwise, players might never try some weapons
I feel like the rain is a bit too much and a bit out of place, like, it looks really good but it doesn't blend well with the pixel art. Also make the rain not follow the camera, it breaks the illusion.
