I would think HIPPA laws alone would preclude the government from disclosing his health conditions to the general public, but I find it hard to believe that there is no established protocol for Cabinet members (in this case the Secretary of DEFENSE, FGS!) who are suddenly rendered unable to perform their duties, to inform the President of that fact. DO they exist, and if so, did Secretary Austin fail to follow them? If they do not exist, you can hardly gig him for making his own (admittedly erroneous, in the case of not informing the President) independent decisions, and some guidelines clearly need to be established!

Secretary Austin deserves our support and compassion. He has been in the hospital for all of January! Sometimes, when people are gravely ill, they are not in the position to call their boss. Yes, he should (key word SHOULD) have alerted the WH of his impending surgery, but not doing so is not grounds for a Congressional investigation nor for calls for termination. His return to the hospital was done on an EMERGENCY basis. The appropriate people were informed as soon as practical after the emergency was addressed. Again, no grounds for a Congressional investigation or job termination.

Why are we acting as if the secretary of defense committed an unforgivable act by not disclosing his cancer diagnosis. We have procedures for this. 😡 Give that man some grace!
I would think HIPPA laws alone would preclude the government from disclosing his health conditions to the general public, but I find it hard to believe that there is no established protocol for Cabinet members (in this case the Secretary of DEFENSE, FGS!) who are suddenly rendered unable to perform their duties, to inform the President of that fact. DO they exist, and if so, did Secretary Austin fail to follow them? If they do not exist, you can hardly gig him for making his own (admittedly erroneous, in the case of not informing the President) independent decisions, and some guidelines clearly need to be established!

There’s a certain demographic that finds ANY REASON to criticize literally everything the current administration does. The right wing/MAGA cultists just do the opposite of whatever the Biden administration does, even if it’s clearly a detriment to our country to do so. Biden could come up with the cure for cancer, and they’ll find something negative to say about it. The old saying, “Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face”, comes to mind. For example, there are republicans who have been demanding that the border be secured, and rightfully so.. the border crisis should be a priority, I’m not arguing against that… but now there are Republicans who are openly saying that they will refuse approve of any new border security funding and won’t vote to pass any bills that will “make Biden look good”… so they cry about lack of funding and resources for the border crisis, but then refuse to pass the legislation that will address it. Our national security isn’t as important as ensuring that Biden’s poll numbers don’t improve. They are totally stuck in this “us verses them” mentality. Our society has been conditioned this way too. Admittedly, I am guilty of it too, because I can’t help but despise the MAGA politicians, such as Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, etc etc. The 2 party system is clearly not working, and our government is gradually morphing into a circus. It’s just unbelievable, the damage they have done to this country. They’ve turned half the country into anti democratic, anti establishment, conspiracy theorists… yet they claim to be some sort of patriots, like they’re the last bastion of hope for America. All they have done is sow distrust, fear, and division. Poor Lloyd Austin has cancer, and they want his head for not announcing it to the world immediately. I do understand that with such a crucial and vital position as the one he holds, there needs to be full transparency and communication with the chain of command and definitely the commander and chief.. but we don’t know all of the details. I need to look into it further, but I’m pretty sure he made the person who is next in line aware, so that in the event of an emergency, someone would still be there to take control. I could be mistaken, but cancer is a touchy subject.. give the guy a break! All these clowns who call other people “snowflakes”, ironically are always the ones crying over everything. They want to hoist Lloyd Austin up in the middle of town square, so the public can pelt him with rocks and scream “shame!” at him. Then give him the guillotine. I swear, it’s nothing but culture wars, conspiracies, and crying with these people. I’m so ashamed of what our country has become.

Also, the story about the couple who had folic acid pills is disgusting. Did they keep their jobs? Their home? This is completely unacceptable! I know several years have passed since the incident. I hope they were able to move on with their lives, but I am glad they are sharing their story. The gentleman is right: if it could happen to them, it could happen to anyone. I hope they sue and win. The innocent need to be well compensated for the time, trouble, and trauma of false arrests.

I had a feeling that the Defense Secretary's mysterious procedure and hospitalization was something deeply personal and there isn't much more deeply personal than prostate cancer. I don't think the whole country needed to know but I do feel like he should've coordinated with his people and the White House better, but at the same time he is literally just a person and he's trying to deal with cancer so I feel like some leniency is deserved. Very unfortunate that things have gone so sideways. He never should have hid it from the government but I understand why he wants privacy, but nobody that high up in our government should be hiding stuff that major. Secy Austin should have kept the WH informed of his plight and definitely any planned surgery if the planning only began 10 minutes before he was rolled into the OR. Defense and State are the two most important cabinet positions, especially when we're so deeply involved in two very dangerous conflicts right now. His recovery will, hopefully, be 100% and quick.
Yes, he should (key word SHOULD) have alerted the WH of his impending surgery, but not doing so is not grounds for a Congressional investigation nor for calls for termination. His return to the hospital was done on an EMERGENCY basis. The appropriate people were informed as soon as practical after the emergency was addressed. Again, no grounds for a Congressional investigation or job termination.

I had a health problem at work that made my bowel movement uncontrollable, my supervisor called me into her office and asked about my health and what my doctor was prescribed medication, two days later human resources fired me.
I do not understand why they did not use a Loctite thread locker and wires through the bolts and nuts. I worked P.S.N.S. and saw it used all the time on things. They should have grounded the plane tell they figured out why it was getting alarms. It is pain-out right making money over saving people's lives. This could have easily been far worse.
