I recently picked up my first ever Sega Saturn (Model 1 US). Just a wee lad in the mid 90’s, I couldn’t afford all 3 major systems. I went with Nintendo and Sony. No regrets there, except that I missed out on the awesome SS library. I’m loving the system thus far (except the ridiculous prices of games…). It should be said I don’t own a PC so this was my only option. Particularly since sega has yet to release a SS mini😔

Saturn games were plentiful in Japan. We got a raw deal in the states but I still loved playing with the games we got. I know we can emulate everything these days, but nothing beats firing up the OG system, with a disc, on a CRT to get that classic, Saturn, pixel goodness and sounds. I think since then we have had most of the great titles ported but would agree: the Japanese version was where it was at. It mopped the floor with PSX on most of the releases that supported 4MB... but it was cool with the VS fighting games to see the features added to compensate; esp MVC on PSX. Supported cancelling and chaining supers among other things that never existed (but still the load times/no tag team and missing anims was meh)

I only got a few more games on the Saturn, Tomb Raider & some pinball game, before its motor burned out. That was the end of my Saturn days: I was in jr. high, lucky to get such a luxury item to begin w/, & any potential repair shop would've been miles & miles away.

I’ve owned 2 different models II’s in my life. The 1st I sold off in my early 20’s with what turned out to be one of the rarer games (Saturn Bomberman COMPLETE & in Beautiful condition), then in my late 20’s when I went to college and got back into video games; I was kicking myself for selling my Saturn & the games. It would be almost a decade later before I found one again at a decent for the time price. Sadly by that point my favorite game that I sold off was hundreds of dollars to reacquire so I haven’t been able to replace that yet. Hopefully one day I can get another decent copy of Saturn Bomberman complete at an affordable/tradable price.

I owned a Saturn for a single day. Got it all set up and when I started to play (during a sever thunderstorm) a power surge fried it.

I got the Model 1 in September of '95. I regretably sold it complete in box in 2008. Recently I got a near mint Model 1 off Ebay with no box. I love the Saturn as well.

Preordered my White Saturn from Japan before US release. I absolutely loved it. Virtua Fighter. Virtua Cop. Astral. Panzer Dragoon. Children of the Atom. Dark Stalkers. Daytona USA. Sega Rally. Most people never utilized the 4mb expansion and the games had reduced loading. Best controller ever. Great arcade sticks. Still own 2 consoles. Don't forget Guardian Heros!!!

I didn't have a Saturn in the 90s but I did borrow a friend's for a little bit. It was cool that the games could also be used as music CDs. I now have two Saturns, one is modded to play other regions and the other I got because I couldn't say no at $20, but ever since I got the Polymega I haven't really touched my Saturn. I still keep it tho, because for now it's still the only way I'm aware of to play the lightgun games.

Bought a PS1 first, then N64, then much later a Saturn from a garage sale. *All three systems felt different for me* (at least, because of the games I owned).
PS1 games felt more like linear, cinematic experiences: Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Resident Evil. The FMVs, CD audio music, and voice overs aided in that.
N64 games were multiplayer fests (Goldeneye, Mario Kart, WCW/WWF games) or explorative adventures (Mario 64, Ocarina).
But the Saturn felt like an arcade machine to me. I had Virtua Fighter, Daytona, Sega Rally, Street Fighter Alpha to name a few.

Back in the day I had a model 1 same box etc as yours. Thing was it was bought for myself and my cousin's to play at my grandparents. They gave me the SNES and virtual boy. Then my cousins were given the Saturn. Few years later I was able to get a replacement but it was a model 2. Still would like to get a cub model 1 like I had originally. I was able to get all of my original games again thankfully.

I bought my Saturn at its rather “unannounced” launch and I enjoyed every minute playing it right along side with my PS1. The Saturn had some incredible arcade and other unique Sega games not found anywhere else and I cherish them to this day. For me the Saturn will always be awesome and hopefully Sega will make a “mini” so others can enjoy it too because many Saturn games have become pretty expensive.

I was ride or die Sega growing up. Me and my brother had the Master System, while all of our friends had the NES, then we decided to go with the Genesis , while everyone else was SNES, then Saturn, and Dreamcast. Sega games just appealed to me more. I still play my Saturn regularly. It's a tight race between the Saturn and Dreamcast for my Sega console

I bought my Saturn in 1997 with the three games free pack-in. My favorite game was Guardian Heroes, because it was the greatest beat 'em up made for home consoles. Capcom impressed me with amazing 2D animations on their sprites in Megaman 8, X4, and SF Alpha 2. In the past few years, I've imported Japan only titles like Silhouette Mirage.
