remember that they was tried to make a single player game in the same universe with Contract Wars/ Tarkov called Russia 2028. Yet the game later got scrapped when Battlestates splited from Absolut Soft.
I played the original Contract Wars back on Kongregate back in 2012 before Kongregate stopped supporting Unity games and it was available on its own website. Years later the same devs came out with Hired Ops which was not free at the time but hosted a wide range of quality of life improvements and the new lean mechanic. Fun fact for anyone still reading: the snipers have no bloom so if you know where the center pixel of your screen is or if you have a monitor crosshair you can use them like guaranteed one shot shotguns or just no scope snipe across the largest maps, some of which are huge.
The top bar on your screen was showing what weapon you were on. It was also showing where other people were in their progress. When you were onto the knife, that’s when you needed to melee. When you were trying to melee you were still on pistol kills which is why you didn’t win.

The thumbnail made me think this was Contract Wars for a second. What's interesting about Hired Ops is that earlier on it had CW's skill tree system, I don't know if this game still has that.
it still has that skill system but a bit different. You have to level up your operators, 1 lvl up = 3 skills (10 levels max = 27 skills) but you have to choose which to active per operator level. So every lvl 10 operator has 9 skills. And, each skill has its levels (6 max).
