    ►Check Out Our Website: mechaniclifestyle.com
    Hey guys here is a video about a Common Transmission leak on Mercedes vehicles. If you have the 722.6 transmission they have a common leak that if it is not fixed your car might go in LIMP Mode and even damage the Transmission Control Module.
    The common leak is caused by an aging O-ring that is very inexpensive compare to replacing the whole transmission.
    We demonstrated on ML Class W163 but W203 and C-CLASS E-CLASS AND S-CLASS Share this transmission even some other models as well.

    Thanks for the video - nice :) I've changed the oil (full flush), filter and this plug today in my CLK320. Plenty of work - took couple of hours! And I had a huge problem with pressing new connector with new o-rings back into the socket. Real nightmare - it took me at least 45 minutes to get this pressed back - really annoing. But all work good now and I'm verry happy that I did the full oil change myself.

      koolaevah do you have any advice for this process? I have a 2001 Clk 320 and was told that my oil pan is cracked. Recommended to A mechanic but money is my issue. Much more economically sound to attempt the repair myself.

    better to take the bottom two off first. Then remove the center ones allowing the oil to pour off the back with much less of an area to catch oil. :)

      I'm assuming you're referring to tightening down the the bolt inside the automatic transmission plug adapter. There is a trick to it. Most standard sockets are too deep. The back part of the socket won't push down on the bolt far enough to push it in so that the bolt threads can catch. The solution I found was to insert some tape inside the socket to push the bolt farther down. The bolt threads will catch then.

    • @jensave89
      @jensave89 3 роки тому +3

      @@dbeaton1111 I pushed the socket really hard in and then i started to screw with my fingers. When i noticed that the screw held, i used your trick and it finally worked. Thanks a lot!

    • @WaelElkassem
      @WaelElkassem 6 років тому +7

      Karr Knutt it can be replaced the pan was dropped to let the oil drain as it is also good to replace your oil while you're at it and in some cases the oil would rush out the plug when you pull it out so its just better to drain the oil either using the drain plug or if you dont have one just by taking the valve body cover off and then replacing the atf

    I didn't have any problem taking the plug out but new one does not go down all the way enough to have 7mm screw catch the female screw down below. The plug goes down and locks enough it does not rotate any more. Maybe because the new O-ring on new plug is stopping to go down more. Do I need to tap down the plug somehow? As long as I am sure pins are aligned to all the holes, I feel comfortable to tap down but I am afraid it might damage those pins. Any suggestion?

    • @Shane71170
      @Shane71170 6 років тому +1

      I am having the same problem, the plug will NOT go in far enough. I did this before a year ago and snapped the bolt so best to use a nut driver and NOT a socket.

    • @Shane71170
      @Shane71170 6 років тому +2

      Well I got it in, finally. I really had to press it in so hard. I used 2 screwdrivers at the same time using 1 to make a lever for the other so I could press on the backside. I think the problem is getting it to go in strait.

    Just a Heads-up.... Guys if you do not have proper space and proper tools and proper jack DO NOT just the jack the car up and try changing this Transmission Connector. You must provide your win-number to MB dealer to get the right plug part number and it is not like just buy the MB original connector from eBay as we did. In our case it took us 20 minutes just to unplug the connector and 40-minuted to put the 7-milimeter socket on a tiny 7-mm male screw inside of the big connector and it was very frustrating-- DO NOT USE LONG 7-Mili SOCKET, . Nothing on this connector goes right and it is not easy to pull it out and is not that easy to push it in as it is showing here YOU NEED TO SPRAY and CLEAN the connector real good it before touching it. I helped my friend's car and we spent Saturday and Sunday to get this job done and there were still tons of oil in the connector after changing and started the engine. New O-Ring on new connector was too fat to let the connector to get in and there was no space for hand to push it hard to get in with hand as this person is explaining and if you hammer it you may break the pins inside and it is a very costly damage. so we put back the old smaller O-Ring back and pushed it in---- very bad practice. So be very careful doing this job yourself; if you have few hundred dollars it would worth the frustration and have a mechanic shop to do it for you believe me.

    • @Infinitpossibilities
      @Infinitpossibilities 4 роки тому

      Was going to ask a similar question....how do you establish the correct level. One thing I do know is taking the pan off doesnt drain it all out as there a good few litres still stuck in the thrust side of the unit. If you have a drain plug ensure you catch it all and measure it against the fresh you put back in and, perhaps an extra little splash to account for the leakage? :)

    • @Infinitpossibilities
      @Infinitpossibilities 4 роки тому

      I have also heard you can get transmission dipsticks on ebay....be careful it is for EXACT model though....you can do a lot of damage if you misjudge it excessively!
