Cub Cadet rating is 46% or 25 degree slope, not 45 degree slope. It looks like Neil confused slope angle in degrees with slope percent. Slope percent is the vertical change divided by the horizontal distance expressed as a percent. So 46% is a vertical change of 4.6 feet for every 10 feet horizontal. From the Cub Cadet website: "Dual rear wheels and weighted front rims for ultimate traction on slopes up to 25-degrees, or 46% grade."
The Steiner 450 articulated small tractor, which Messick's also sells, is rated up to 30 degrees or 58% slope when equipped with dual wheels.
Yes, someone who understands slope! Thank You!
In my mind I sort it as "30 degrees is about as steep as you can walk up carrying anything, and 45 degrees is a 12 on 12 roof - you need toe boards for that".
Talladega Superspeedway is 33 degrees in slope. I've walked up it which is pretty dang steep. No way you go up a 45 on that mower
Eric Scott, plenty of roofers out here walking 12/12 without boards. Have a blessed one and carry on!
Still have 2 feet of snow in my yard
I seen one of these without duals on a very steep hill. It was impressive.
It doesn't quite "zero turn", but for one of it's designed uses for steep side-hill mowing, it has the stability advantage that makes up for slightly less than zero turn capability. ...and you're wrong about being rated for 45 degree side slope as you said in the video. It is rated for 25 degrees An angle of 25 degrees converts to:
46.63 Percent of a Slope
I would imagine that there is some caveat to the published side hill angle about wet turf reducing the acceptable angle of incline.
As I suspected:
***If the slope is greater than 25 degrees (46
percent) as shown on the slope gauge, do not
operate this machine on that area or serious
injury could result***
"Do not turn on slopes unless necessary;
then ***turn slowly uphill*** and use extra
care while turning."
"Do not mow on wet grass. Reduced
traction could cause sliding and/or loss
of control."
Very correct. But if you are wearing a Hi Vis shirt it's okay.
Damnit Warped stop being factual. Americans like and even thrive on deception. We can't handle the truth. Seriously good call on the slope misrepresentation.👍
You seem to be suffering with “short man syndrome.” Where are your videos?
I have a couple year old version of this, with single rear tires, and it is great on hills.

Hey Neil. Could you do a video on maintenance. The manual says to spray lube But there isn't a diagram. Thanks
$17K for a gasser, wow! Is there a diesel option?
I don’t think so
Whats really cool about that machine is that the steering linkage is linked to the rear transmissions. So as you turn the wheel it, slows the inside tire down.....
I have the pro z 160kw, really wish I would have got the one with power steering. Regardless, it handles hills with ease.
The way it steers and functions makes me think a little of the Snapper rear engine mowers.
17k??? I have one yard to cut! Geesh
Wow!!! With all of the hills we have to mow here in Mississippi this is eye catching
That’s a nice hillside machine! My dad has a version of the zero turn cub cadet with front wheel steering, it does such a good job! But, now this machine is in a class of its own.
I live and work on a mountain side. I just bought a Cub Cadet Pro Z 154 to mow my property (after having rolled two tractor style mowers and getting really tired of mowing about two acres with a self propelled walk-behind and a string trimmer). While mine is not as radical as the Z900 shown here (no duals), it is really impressive on hillsides. And that's good because that's ALL I've got!
Are the spindles aluminum or steel?
That is the most BADASS mower I've ever seen. I'm actually trying to get credit to purchase 1 as we speak. Was totally unaware of the dully application. Tooo sweet!!!
I can see the traditional steering sticks going away within 2-3 years adapting the steering wheel to a Zero turn may be the next best big thing since sliced bread was invented I gotta get one of these
I'm guessing the black front disk addition inserts to the rims are there to prevent the rim from collapsing in on itself, as this has happened to me a few times on my tractor ride-on. Turning and sliding puts incredible force on the side.
no, they are wheel weights.
Very heavy duty machine
I have a cub cadet tabk SZ 54. I am able to mow hillsides that i used to have to push mow because my power king would break loose and slide into fence. It is wirhout a doubt the most stable mower i havr ever been on. It has cut my mowing time in hslf. 5 acres in 1.5 hours mostly hills and looks like a golf course. It pulls a cart. A 34 ton log splitter and a 3009 pound pop up camper. My next tractor will beva kubota because i coukd really use a bucket, but for now i couldn't be happier.
I do hills on my yard with my pro z 100 that would make most people cringe!!!!
Those cub cadets are really built solid from what i have seen just not sure how well the items like the motors, etc hold up compare to a Kubota with a wet clutch.
How can a mower cost nearly the cost of a cheap new car?
thats cheap, a John deer in California goes for like 30K
I mow on some pretty steep hills and wet areas. I still have the factory turf tires. What if I replaced just the right side tire with a more aggressive tire. While mowing you turn left a lot so some extra traction on the right side should help pull you along. Most of the sharp pivoting is on the left tire.
Do they make a low end (homeowner) hill rated mower?
I didn't know you guys were a dealer for cub cadet!
cool video
FIFY: Rated at 25 degree angle, 46% grade
thanks!
AWESOME 😎😎
Neil, how much will you give me for trade on my ZD1211?? ;)
Will need to speak with a salesman. Obviously we need more details. 8002223373
