I was skeptical to use the strike zone camera because I didn’t want to lose the view of my batter, but i finally bit the bullet and decided to try it. Absolutely a great decision, it makes it 10x easier to read pitches and get good contact
So have I just got it and I’m really disappointed it looks and feels like a 2k8 game but the mechanics are much worse and it’s not as smooth pretty weird for a modern game to look so crappy but I’ll still play

same. I had a batting stance that could swing the ball deep but I would always get out. and then I also would have the ball just go low. I think batting stance is key and for your swing motion if you want to get the ball to rise more or to get more power in your swing then make it a one handed swing.
Great tips, I'd also like to add WATCH TAPE The first HR I hit, I recorded a game clip and watched for A) What pitch was thrown B) What swing I used and most importantly C) Where my PCI was. This helped out a lot, especially when learning what swings to use against certain pitches
Tip for some players having issues with batting... make sure you aren’t letting go of the stick before you swing! I realized I kept moving it and letting go right before I would swing and I would miss everything. Now I’m making sure I hold my stick where I want the PCI. Sounds self explanatory but when you go quick it can happen!

I'm playing mlb for the first time. I've only played for about 5 hours on Xbox yesterday. I followed all your tips and saw immediate improvement, the tip about higher difficulty was the one that made the most difference. I still have really bad timing but have hit 11 home runs in about 7 games. Hoping to practice some more. This is such a fun game.
Let alone beginner bro and same thing I use to play the other mlb shows and mlb 2k13 and this game I can’t hit anything but a damn pop up no matter if I am good timing or perfect pci perfectly on ball , contact , regular , power swing it don’t make a difference I can’t figure out how to get the damn bases loaded 🤦🏽♂️
They should really have a preview of the PCI in the menu when you're changing it so you don't have to go back and forth lol. Basic user experience stuff.
I did this in high school and it seems to work at least OKAY for the game. Watch the pitchers hat. When they release the ball you can get an idea of where it's gonna go based on that.
Press right trigger when u go up to bat. It will show u the players stats. Use whatever swing depending on their stats. If they have more power, use power, if they have more contact, use contact. Keep in mind power is a lot harder to hit since the zone is smaller. U can use normal with anyone without worrying about stats

Seems like when I swing the bat especially on Veteran difficulty it’s a fly ball or it’s a ground out. Unless it’s a perfect hit it’s an out for me and feels like I can’t even hit. It even is the same for hits that are considered good. I didn’t have these issues in 20.
Last time I seriously played online was maybe 18. Back then most people were just as bad as I was at zone hitting so I won a lot. Now I hop into 21 and get taken deep anytime a 100mph fastball is within a foot of the strike zone
It's kind of annoying for me because I've tried to play like moments or March to October and I've gotten so many unlucky outs. I've have good swings or even perfect but my pci hasn't been the perfect placement. But it wasn't even that my pci was bad, it just wasn't perfect
It’s ur aim then. Ur aim has to be good also. Try pressing right trigger before u hit and see wherever the pitcher has been throwing. Before he pitches, already prepare ur aim somewhere areound the area he’s pitching in.
10:31 I have one major weakness. Low change ups. I always fail on low change ups. If someone throws me a fastball outside, I crush it. Low change up, not so much
I feel like they changed the angles of pitches. I watch a ton of low pitches hit the strike zone low for strikes. It's like you have to preload your swing to not be late...but every time I try to hold up on a swing they say I swung. It's way harder this year. Unnecessarily harder.
Learning to take pitches is the hardest part but it’s the most rewarding. Sometimes a pitcher will mess up and leave something over the middle for you to tee off on but seriously, take some pitches and get a feel for how they’re trying to throw to you. Also consider its baseball, even the best hitters fail 2/3 times.

Then I’m swinging and everything, I’ve tried changing my camera but nothing is working for me. I’ve tried changing everything but nothing works out for me. as a first time player on xbox.. the hitting has been by far the hardest thing! constantly late or if I am ontime/early I swing at a ton of junk out of the zone.. I moved the hitting difficulty down for my RTTS player to at least get my timing, but definitely going to get some BP in today at All Star and try moving to strike zone camera.
I would suggest using directional hitting offline and on legend for timing and vision purposes. I only used directional hitting for the longest time until I became an eagle eye at the plate. When I switched to zone hitting it was just about the pci and not about my vision or timing. Master one first then the other.
If you go to your settings and turn the announcers voice to zero, and turn the crowd volume up to 100, you can hear the crowd chanting/whispering clues as to what pitch is coming next. It happens fast , usually on 3-2 , 0-2 counts. You just gotta be alert and quickly decipher what the crowd is trying to tell you before the pitcher releases the ball. It happens even faster online, just as the pitcher is in his windup

For me I found just paying really close attention to the ball as it’s coming out of the pitches hand helps. It’s easy to lose focus and try and pick up the ball after it’s thrown. Also I like the camera zoomed out a little. I think I use the 2016 the Show camera for hitting. It feels like I get a more complete look at the pitch.
I’ve been playing so much the last couple weeks 😂 weirdest thing about the swing feedback is that one time I had perfect timing yet the ball was foul. Like I had to be late or early in order for it to be put in play 😂
Man sucks that none of these youtube tips/guides ever talk about the actual hit buttons! The 3 are very different and while I do understand their general use/function, i would love some guide on when and how to use which hit. How does the count affect choice? Pitch direction or type? Ugh...
not gonna lie these tips kinda helped me. i have yet to play online with them but when i played in the first game they put u in against the cpu i got 13 hits which was my most hits in a game and the score was 11-2. the pci tips and settings and camera settings really helped me a lot.
I can't tell you how many stikes I have by checking the ball. They need settings to remove check swings. It used to be hit the button normal now you have to hold it down until he is done running the bases it seems. AWFUL!
I use the same hitting view as koogs and I cannot catch up to high fastballs ever. I'll always get the PCI in a good spot but the timing is horrible. Any advice on that anyone? Edit: just noticed you can choose where the cpu throws balls in practice that is awesome. Gonna practice high fastballs

Changing my batting camera angle helps alot with being able to see the breaking ball start higher out the hand

I started taking low pitches on 0 strike or 1 strike counts so I could get a feel for the change up and when to take. Seems to help a lot

not gonna lie these tips kinda helped me. i have yet to play online with them but when i played in the first game they put u in against the cpu i got 13 hits which was my most hits in a game and the score was 11-2. the pci tips and settings and camera settings really helped me a lot.
There's 3 different swings in the game. Normal, power and contact. What should I know about when to use those?
It depends on the hitter youre using and the count you're in.

if you have more contact, then contact hit. if you have more power, then power swing.
Neither do a normal swing

I can't tell you how many stikes I have by checking the ball. They need settings to remove check swings. It used to be hit the button normal now you have to hold it down until he is done running the bases it seems. AWFUL!

I use the same hitting view as koogs and I cannot catch up to high fastballs ever. I'll always get the PCI in a good spot but the timing is horrible. Any advice on that anyone?
Edit: just noticed you can choose where the cpu throws balls in practice that is awesome. Gonna practice high fastballs

Sit high in the zone
So if he pitches high you can crush it and if he throws it low you can drop your pci to the ball
So frustrated even when I time it well it’s a line out right to the fielder
