I am a youth coach and just now I watched this video again after having sent it to all my frisbee kids ... again, so they have something to practice in these corona times when they go out to a sports park with a bunch of discs to throw into a soccer goal. Nowadays during warming up for my own games or just throwing with my friends I use so much more different throws than in the old days, thanks to the first video (30) and this one (80). One comment ‘though : another name for the bbq backhand is the ‘your dad in the park’ backhand, but its release point is on the right side of your body (right handed thrower), ... unless they might actually be two ‘differerent’ throws.
I've been throwing frisbees around for 25+ years and was surprised two of my favourite show off throws were missing. One is a back hand air bounce from behind and over your head, you need to kind of jog/step into it and bend over forwards. The other is a no spin throw which can fly beautifully. Have your four fingers under the disc spread out evenly with your thumb on the top in the middle. Keep your arm straight, and move from aiming downwards swinging up to horizontal and let go, while the disc is also horizontal. The disc then flies like a wing minus the gyro effect and if you get it just right it goes up to ten meters just gracefully falling through the air forwards with no spin. Hope that makes sense to someone..!
send me videos of these please if you get a moment to thehumansoundsystem@hotmail.com or on whatsapp 00447709 691 862. would love to see and learn these. also throwing over 20 years and so excited to discover this video. I will send you a free copy of my cd (digital files) in return :)
2 disc golf shots (probly useless for ultimate) not included: 1: turbo putt - 4 fingers around the rim and thumb in bottom center of disc. Lift disc above head and thrust forward, spinning it as you go. 2: grenade - grip like a backhand fan grip but with the disc upside down. Chuck way high, and it should travel a bit in the air, then bomb straight downwards.
great vid! can you compile a list where the throws are quite good for ultimate? i know that the ground pass is one of the best throws in ultimate frisbee for the other team at least
We mostly use backhands and flicks (standard, low release, high release), hammers, and sometimes thumbers and scoobers (I can't throw the last two to save my life tho haha) usually the holy trinity of backhand, flick, and hammer is enough to get u through a game. Better to have these three down to a tee than try to use all this fancy pants throws (no that it's not fun, just impractical)
Maybe I missed it but I didn't see a version of the Thumbixler with a forehand grip? Different from a Bixler because it comes out on the right side of your body and goes fully past your arm as it comes around.
faltan: banckhand behind around, talon brouch, angel tip, donkey kick (brouch), flamingities trou, plaud trou, snake, violinista (con cuello y hombro), roll de espalda y creo que otros mas
Yooooooooooo Rowan that’s impressive bro! I’m thinking that with those throws in mind Ultimate frisbee may be advancing faster than we thought! Could you make a couple videos about how to do your “double backhand” trick throw and your rational behind using both hands to throw the disc (especially if it prevents wobble). The only disappointing part of this video is that I really want play outside right now, but I cannot since there is snow out there. Arghhhhhh! Somebody help me!
Hello Rowan, thx so much for your vids and especially for that one. I learned a lot and 'took' some of the throws. Slow motion helps a lot. Question about Ultimate discs - in your opinion what is/are the best Ultimate discs? I don't play Ultimate i just throw and catch (TRC - ThrowRunCatch?). So for that purpose which discs, which manufacturer would you recommend?
The standard for most players on the west coast where I live seems to be DiscCraft UltraStar 175g discs. Daredevils and Innova discs are also somewhat popular
Under the legs forehand!! You start from behind your body with the FH grip and you throw an insideout between your legs, the disc goes flat pretty soon. Easier to do than to say
Just graduated hs and my friend an Di would always sneak into gym and throw a Frisbee around. Now that's not gonna happen anymore, makes me a little sad d
you forgot the future. hold the disk on your knuckles grasping with your thumb and pinky. throw like a backhand or chicken wing. while throwing, announce "the future is now". #gameready
I want throws that make the mark turn around to see where the disc went and then you throw it. Or you throw it and he thinks you still have it. I want the defense completely out of it.
@@RowanMcDonnell yeah! I'd have to say the behind the back flick is also one of my favs.. it works 60% of the time aha. There's also another throw that I'd like to give ya! It's called "The Sheathe"! this throw is released in a form of a backhand but the grip is like a thumber and u release it with the top of the disc facing up. Essentially it's like sheathing a sword! My friend came up with it! You should do a video on it!
3:11 lol what do you have against the chicken wing
Too hot for UA-cam.
NSFW throw
my 80th favorite throw :) :)
@@RowanMcDonnell come on
Is there a name for the upside down chicken wing? I usually release it like a skyhook.

umm did you forget a standard backhand? i saw two handed but i don’t think you did just backhand
Oooops sometimes I forgot the ones I barely throw... :)
Also dad backhand!
Also upside down backhand
Also dad backhand. Rowan doesn't like his backhands

He kinda did a turbo just without the thumb
3:24 #34 Spinerama, my favorite throw to warm up! :D
100% it's the best

Body roll gonna get me all the ladies this summer.
Me too bruh, me too haha
It's freestyle man! Check out my vids
You gotta do Marco pollo throws (no look throws, particularly the hammer while facing away)
You should add the Discus - wrap fingers and wrist around the edge of the disc, do a 360 (or 720) and then let it rip
bowling push pass, over hand brush pass, anything between the legs, toe flicks/backhands, chicken wing push pass both ways, wagon wheel? haha
Love the video!!
Personally, I think #49 @5:12 should be called “the dab” but that’s just me!
you could have changed the name and i wouldn't have noticed! thanks for editing!!
Does anybody else think he made up half of these
He made up names, but throws are real. Check out Freestyle Frisbee
Yep, check out our vids for more
When you make it up, it brings the “element of surprise” :)
And so?
Is it only for me on 31. Chicken Wing for few sec black sreen? 3:11
nah I got it too
:) :)
8:11 goes 75 and skips to 77
There are also, only 79 :DD
Is 6:19 bounce pass allowed in a game of ultimate Frisbee?
It's not
7:14 coolest one
I like future more tbh because it's the same thing but you have to airbounce it.

Can someone explain how to throw the #58 (bounce pass)? It looks so cool!
throw it with much more IO than your standard backhand / forehand. bounce pass is also much easier on a flatter and harder ground.
Please do videos to explain exactly how do you do !!!
It's too fun !
between the legs flick, between the legs flick bounce pass (my speciality!! Under the leg flick and behind the back back hand bounce pass.
No one:
Rowan McDonnell: Let's throw a two hand skyhook!
I have a unique variation of the push pass. Next time you come to Pittsburgh I can show you!
Much freestyle frisbee in here!
FINALLY!!
#sorryforthewait
How about under the leg throws?
In freestyle we have thousands of throws

is this mostly parody or are there some actual real function to some of these because i came into this video new to disc golf trying to get better XD
Chicken wing skip then what my team loves to do is a chicken wing airbounce
I still cant throw a scoober to save my life
5 should be called behind the backhand.
I didn't see the backhand thumber.
Nothing between the legs?

pretty sure he was just like, lets see how many different ways i can throw you a frisbee, then ill make up a stupid name for each one.
