@@alokambedkar6840 yes I think he is
Very well said, if only i had arguments as strong as you.
Beautifully written and clearly explained! ❤
Just blown away! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I hear a word chapri in many videos, is this word casteist, the usage in most times sounds casteist. Can someone tell it's meaning contrxtually
i think most of the time the word is used to describe frantic bikers in traffic which most of the time happens to be ktm riders.
@@rimilmurmu10 yeah KTM's are irritating. But I hear this chapri word often on UA-cam channel to describe cheap behaviour or what one deems not good
@@AshwiniKumarSlo chapri is literally a cast bro
Chapri is a caste bro
Very well argued and clarified.
Awesome and beautiful written ✌️
Thank you. A very important dialogue.
Very well said Vimoh
Amazing 👏. Wonderfully explained.
Incredibly written article and a perfect reply to those so called savarn comedians who justify their casteist "jokes" as comedy.
It felt good when the Indian stand-up comedy scene started with all the relatable jokes (for middle and upper middle class and caste people). Then it went into a rut of nostalgia and relatability by making shows that recreated 90s settings.
I just wondered what it would be like to make jokes that the audience cannot relate to and are not comfortable discussing these issues.
Then I watched John Oliver and thought, oh, here it is.
Brilliant!
This is excellent.
A well constructed joke will be appreciated but if you're punching down that'll always age badly according to me. While I wouldn't support anything that leads to self-censoring but comedians cannot weaponize liberal values to act inconsequentially.
Beautifully written
Good video.
Awesome 👌
👍 good analogy.
You are absolutely correct
Insult comedy is only consumed by sick people. They need to see a doctor first.
There are always things you cannot say is a democratic society.
What comedians don't understand is that they have the right to say what they want but so do everyone else.
Democracy does give you freedom of speech but also it doesn't (and shouldn't) entertain falsehood, bigotry and hate speech...for good reasons. Its our job as people who runs this democracy to find these good reasons and call out those who couldn't, to build healthy society.
Super 👏👏
It's not fair..I think he is referring to Neville Shah's punch on reservation.. everyone talks about this crap in our society weather they admit it not..and above that he has apologized multiple time when he realised he had crossed a line.
Agree. Everyone should be free to speak his/her opinion, no matter how wrong it sounds to someone else. Stopping free speech (which doesn't include vi0lence and doxxing) is really bad move.
@@adampower9757 I don't think they are stopping him but he is being held responsible for what he says. Are you're in a job you can't say anything to your employer just like that if you're employer like Netflix, Amazon, the audience doesn't like what you say it will not encourage you and you'll have to face the consequences.
Respect.
is "Domestic help" an appropriate term ?
Art is something subjective; one person may know how to consume it while another may not. When I write a joke, I'm not necessarily intending it as a statement; I don't see much value in my joke beyond eliciting a laugh. If anyone takes my joke as an argument against a certain caste, I'm sorry, but that's their issue with how they consume it. Am I running away from my words? Why should I even take responsibility if someone uses medicine in the wrong way, especially if I didn't make it for that purpose? I don't have a monopoly on their will.

So you will not make a video on islamic extremism
Do I work for your daddy?
Jokes are jokes.
Maybe. But not every joke is "just" a joke.
@@vimoh I do understand what you mean. Before, even I was thinking there are certain things which can’t be made fun of. I was offended of jokes on my country, my race, my lang, my religion, my dietary preferences. Later, I accepted those as jokes and moved on. A director can’t remove a murder scene from movie thinking some nutcase will get inspired and commit a crime. Responsibility seems far stretched, though I agree on principle , but where is THE LINE? So, I do disagree on this. But love your work so much, even though I disagree a lot. Started following your work since yesterday.
@@annamalaian0711don't you know that these movies has Age restrictions?? Vimoh has very well explained that how every joke is not a joke. A responsible artist very well knows where to draw a line.
@@muskanustad3834 the artist has the right for decide to himself or herself where to draw the line. You or anyone can't arbitrarily draw a moral line for someone else
Disagree with you here. Comedy has no limits. Comics can joke about any topic. Jokes are made even on hollow-ca$t, $lavery , r@cism and other social issues. Dave Chappell, George Carlin, Bill burr, Patrice O'Neil etc are excellent examples. Comedy is subjective. All jokes should be allowed under free speech unless they include doxxing or incite vi0lence.
Gate keeping free speech (comedy) shouldn't be the aim. Everyone will be offended by something and no-one can satisfy everyone.
Comics and jokes can be criticised later , after their performance. But jokes and free speech should never be banned.
Making jokes about people who got treaded badly and disrespectfully just because they were born in certain caste is wrong. Those people are oppressed and people who make jokes on that are privileged one and ignorant ones.
And if these comedian which you have specified here are make jokes like that then they are no better. Privileged people may enjoy these jokes because they feel superior and think it's cool.
When people make jokes like that people think it's not a big deal( caste system) look they have this privilege but ever they thought why they have given that privilege to them which is most of the times is only papers not in practice?
Which caste u belong can u specify here? Because I think you don't belong to that caste and that's why u think enjoying someone misery is free speech and funny!
@@LoveYourself-my9nz Totally Disagree with you. No one should be gatekeeper of comedy or free speech (unless it calls for direct vi0lence or doxxs someone).
Comedy is subjective. There are many funny jokes about j3ws during h0locaust, trans-people, gays , children, god, workplace harrasment, racism , $lavery etc.
No topic is off limits in comedy. You can see the funny and extraordinary performance of comedians I mentioned. They made very funny stand-up comedy on many such topics. And if you don't like them you can critizise the jokes, choose not to watch and support them. But silencing anyone on that you don't agree with is wrong. If you don't like it, It's just not your type of humour. Name-calling others and trying to control free speech of those who you disagree with, is not going to work and wrong.
And no group is homogeneous. Not all members of a group consider themselves as oppressed or are offended by the same jokes. By saying that, you are ignoring the opinion of individuals of the group. In comedy and free speech, people will be offended by opposing views that they might feel wrong. The remedy is to criticise what you disagree with or stop watching the comedy that you don't like. Controlling free speech and comedy of the 'other' side is never good.
Even the most contavercial/serious/taboo topic can be made funny.
If someone doesn't find it funny, then they can choose not to watch it and not support the comedian.
Different people and group claim to be oppressed based on one thing or another.
If we cater to everyone and try not offending their sentiments, we won't have any comedy or free speech.
Controlling free speech, comedy or who's allowed to speak, is really problematic in both short and long term. There are No limits in comedy.
Contributing a culture which traumatise an already weak group of people, is quite problematic, immoral, and way different from making jokes on those in power.
He is talking about comedians in India
Why to exclude doxxig and vi0lence?? Make them also part of the joke. If you don't want to put limits on jokes then why exclude violence????
Atheist talking about censoring, lol
Meaningless comment. lol
