Dutch Meatloaf with Potato Garnish - Tastier, Faster and Easier Than Any Cutlets

  • To prepare Dutch meatloaf with potatoes you will need:
    Meatloaf:
    • Minced meat - 1 kg
    • Breadcrumbs - 180 g
    • Cheese - 150 g
    • Milk - 200-250 ml
    • Eggs - 3 pcs.
    • Onions - 200-250 g
    • Wine (water) - 50-60 ml
    • Green onions - 10-20 g
    • Parsley (cilantro) - 10-20 g
    • Nutmeg - 0.5 tsp.
    • Coriander - 0.5 tsp.
    • Black pepper - 0.5 tsp.
    • Garlic - 1 tsp.
    • Salt - to taste
    Tomato Glaze:
    • Ketchup (or tomato sauce) - 70-80 g
    • Sugar - 1 tsp.
    • Balsamic vinegar - 1 tsp.
    • Olive oil - 1 tbsp.
    Fragrant potatoes:
    • Potatoes - 1 kg
    • Cheese - 50-60 g
    • Dill (parsley/cilantro) - 10-20 g
    • Garlic - 1 tsp.
    • Black pepper - 0.5 tsp.
    • Paprika - 1 tsp.
    • Mustard (Dijon) - 1 tbsp.
    • Olive oil - 3-4 tbsp.
    • Salt - to taste
    Stages of preparation of meat rolls:
    1. Prepare the ingredients:
    • pour milk over breadcrumbs and stir - leave to swell
    • grate the cheese on a fine grater
    • finely chop the green onions and parsley
    2. Add cheese, green onions, parsley, minced meat, eggs and spices (nutmeg, pepper, garlic, coriander, salt) to a bowl with breadcrumbs - mix thoroughly
    3. Cut the onion into quarter rings - place in a baking dish (size 29 x 19 cm) and smooth out the bottom
    4. Divide the meat base of the rolls into 2-3 approximately equal parts.
    5. Form each part of the meat base into an oblong shape.
    6. Place the resulting pieces in a baking dish on top of the onions.
    7. Pour wine into the form with meat preparations
    8. Bake the rolls in the oven: 40 minutes at 180 degrees
    9. Prepare the tomato glaze: mix all ingredients until smooth.
    10. Remove the rolls from the oven and brush their surface with tomato glaze.
    11. Bake the rolls in the oven: 20-30 minutes at 180 degrees
    Stages of preparation of aromatic potatoes:
    1. Place the potatoes in a saucepan, cover with water and add salt.
    2. Bring the water in the pan to a boil, then cook the potatoes for 10-15 minutes.
    3. Drain the water from the potatoes
    4. Cut each potato in half and leave to cool slightly.
    5. Prepare the cheese paste:
    • grate the cheese on a fine grater
    • finely chop the dill
    • mix all ingredients
    6. Add the cheese paste to the potato halves and mix.
    7. Place the potato halves, cut side down, on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    8. Bake the potatoes in the oven: 15-20 minutes at 180 degrees
    Note: Leftover onions from making meatloaf can be used as a sauce for the meatloaf.
