- Another beautiful day flats fishing in The Maldives. This time I used a micro lure in a foot deep crystal clear water and caught a couple of different reef fish on these amazing flats. Welcome to fishing paradise.
My Fishing Setup:
Rod: Ultimate Travel Spinrod 2,10m (5-25g)
Reel: Daiwa Fuego LF3000
Braid: Spiderwire Stealth Smooth 8 Blue Camo (0.13mm)

Banger video, im about to go light tackle fishing also in the Maldives, my setup, rod: Pioneer travel tournament reel: shimano 2500FB Lure: Atoll 3.5g top water
Thanks 😀. Light tackle on the flats is so much fun. I Googled the Atoll 3.5g lure. Looks like an interesting lure. When I have the chance I will try some more top water fishing myself 👍. Good luck.
Nice fishing Bro. I support you Takecare😊🎣🤙
Really appreciate your support 🤙. Tight lines 🎣
new subscriber, i’ve watched a few of your videos and i’m still new to ultralight fishing. my current setup is a 2500 series reel and a medium light rod. so far i’ve been using hard minnow lures and i can’t seem to get as much bites as you. do i still have to use leader line connected to my 6lb mono mainline or can i just tie it straight to my main line?
Thanks for checking out my videos. Your combination of 2500 series + 6 pound + hard minnow sounds good to me. However, I would suggest to always add a mono leader to a braided main line. Mono is harder to see and you can catch a bit bigger fish if you add 10 or 12 pound leader to your 6 pound braid.
I don't know in which country you fish, but look for interesting rock or reef formations where fish are most likely to hide. Or perhaps try some soft plastics and let them sink to the bottom. You will most likely catch some grouper on soft plastics.
Hi .. what lure would be good for shore casting ? Floating pencil , sinking pencil ? What about 10/20 g metal jig ?
Hi Mike. What lures to use all depends on the location and the target species. A location like in this video a floating pencil or small popper is perfect, but in deeper water a sinking pencil might be a better option. Jigs are a good alternative for many species, but only if the water is deep enough. If the bottom of the ocean is very rocky, try some soft plastics. This should work great for rock fish like grouper.
It is honestly hard to tell which lure is the best without knowing the location, but in the ocean surrounding the islands in the Maldives (like in this video) almost all lures work (most succes with small lure and soft plastics).
In the next video that I will upload this Saturday I hook a Giant Trevally in very shallow water on a simple soft plastic, so everything is possible 😉
do we need a permit to fish
You don't need a permit, but you can only fish on the local island. On resort islands you are not allowed to fish.
I'm from Maldives and I would like to know the location pls
