Ginger Root’s music videos never disappoint
Right? It's the washed out colors, warm amber tones from scrolling lights, large public entertainment spaces, community, what it feels like, and for a brief moment fall into the illusion of a wondrous past as if it were right there within reach, to just touch all those familiar things you see or smell the air. It would be astounding to mingle in public with total strangers again, a world yet unhindered by quarantines, social media and developmental issues as a result of their environment.
2:22 the loneliness motif hits so different in the context of this video and the lore! 😭
I love how the riff from Loneliness continues and you can sing the word "Nisemono" along with it it too! Such a cool little detail

This I think is one of the first times I ever cried watching a Music Video.
For about 7 months, I was laid off, and it was a struggle to find work. As I saw my peers continue to blossom in their careers, I was finding myself going through countless rejections, pausing a lot of my life, and becoming extremely discouraged that I was even able to work in my field of interest in the first place. I felt like an impostor, that I was just lucky with my previous job and that I'd never get a chance anywhere else ever. I was waiting for someone to reach out, and it felt like that moment would never come.
Nisemono and the EP as a whole did a lot to help me heal and keep my head up. As I kept trying for opportunities, sought out resources, and just tried to take care of myself, I would have this song helping me walk through getting over the feelings of being an impostor, and to just do my best and keep going.
Seeing the Music Video... With Amaiwana performing amazingly as Kimiko going through similar moments of being alone while the world kept moving, trying and trying again with agencies, and ESPECIALLY waiting by the phone just for anything, the visuals have added a whole new level of connecting to this song and sharing that experience of displacement. I was seeing myself in Kimiko's struggle.
While I'm thankful I'm not in that situation anymore and am settling into a new, more positive change, Nisemono as a whole has been such a personal journey that Cameron has shared with many and one that I'm grateful to have experienced through his craft. My own Nisemono chapter that I was in has been best bookmarked through the sounds and scenes of the EP, and so I'm thankful to have had something to connect to. I cannot wait for what amazing stories and experiences Cameron will share with his team and us in the near future! Congratulations on another amazing story, and genuinely thank you for helping me get through such a difficult time!

@@GingerRootMusic he's right. I just got hired as a paramedic. You can imagine it's a bit stressful to be doing that job let alone to be new. Listening to your music feels like letting out a breath. Stress I didn't know I was carrying, gone. I really appreciate it- your music also got me through countless all-nighters while studying to get to the place I'm at right now

As a musician myself, I’ve got to say I dig this song a lot! It sounds super retro, yet futuristic at the same time with the effects used to make it sound this way in the final recording. I’m also incredibly fascinated by how subversive and unexpected the changes in chord arrangements, harmonies, and melodies get as this song progresses onward to the end. Kinda reminds me of the songs on Captain Beyond’s first album in that regard.
So yeah, I’d say I’m a new fan!
It's amazing how Ginger Root has gone from trying to mimic Kimiko to properly take her place to now Kimiko trying to mimic Ginger Root and retake her place by taking his place.

Been following Ginger Root's videos since 2021 and am always impressed with his neo 80s City Pop style grooves and making his videos look truly like they are from the 80s, this one is superb and I can tell the cameras used are old 3x plumbicon/saticon tube broadcast cameras from 80s I guess the hand held ENG type for portability. Anyhow excellent song and video, keep up the great work! :)

I don't know if it is the story being made or the way each of these videos has dropped, but going back for rewatches and relistens is opening my mind in a way I can't describe other than admiration for it all. This will now loop for the next two months on my playlist.

This isn't the most catchy or mainstream-friendly song of the album but it fits well with the themes of self-expressionism and making your own way in a harsh industry.
With regards to the video, still don't know why Kimiko left at the start of "loneliness" or why she's trying to break back into the industry now. I'd assume depressive episode but time will tell.
