In most battles, only a tiny amount of the people actually die. The number of deaths that an army sustains during a battle is usually between 1% and 20%. But there are exceptions obviously.
People getting permanently injured is much more common though.

Yeah, I have read in most ancient and medieval battles, usually they fight until 15-25% casualties and then the morale wavers and the lines start to break. Since communication then in battle was terrible, they didnt know what was going on in the bigger picture of the battle, Sometimes their side would be winning, but if they see a couple lines near them retreating there is a big chain reactions. Most of the battle's casualties would happen after the fighting stopped and the other side started running away.

Also in those days more soldiers died from disease and other factors rather than actual battle right? If this battle was small/local enough they may have had better health care resources thus further limiting casualties.

    >Because they kept burning Rome down
Haha... bro, that's not even the worst of it. More like "because the emperors like burning Christians" lol.

@@Proftrof lmao, yeah I agree with Naoya, but no reason to fight, the burning of time was a long time ago. Although it is true that Nero would create human torches out of Christians.
