Just swapped the head on my dewalt 20v with the echo speed-feed 400 and was able to do the whole yard without having to stop and feed line manually. Complete upgrade. Thank you!
Bought the 20v Dewalt trimmer yesterday and it worked great but after seeing this video and the comments I picked up the echo speed feed 400!! Just got home about to swap the heads out and head outside to try the new head!
I have used that head for years and the line. Superior over Dewalt. My Echo weed eater was getting old and I cracked the Throttle handle so I purchased the Dewalt cordless. I’m now back using my Echo!!!
I am a 76 year old woman by myself now. I put the screwdriver in the hole and the head will not turn at all. It is almost like it is frozen. Can I squirt some wd40 on it? Thank u for any help.
Yes, the Speed-Feed heads are heavy duty. I had to buy a new head for my DeWalt and the DeWalt heads and the Speed-Feed 400 are about the same price, so why not buy the more heavy-duty one? We use the Echo hard, sometimes 6 hours at a time. That's how I learned to go with the Speed-Feed head. Less problems=you get done faster.@@MTips18

I use both. The Echo for hillsides and the DeWalt for lawn trimming. But my DeWalt has an Echo head on it.
thanks, my dewalt 20v mav has needed a replacement for some time, just replaced it.
No problem, thanks!

I'm hearing/reading the new 60V Flexvolt is shipping with a new improved head resembling the Echo 400 head?
Interesting!
No it’s not. I purchased one and regrade it. Back to using my Echo
Why is the echo a superior head?
The Echo Speed-Feed has a much more heavy-duty spring, many more years in the string trimming business and patents.
It takes a long time to wear it out and unless you're driving nails with it, its not going to break.
