      Brad Owen got beaten so bad he had to take a day job as an accountant [he's an accountant by trade] before he got back to poker. I have mad respect for him because he's shown us the downswings as well as the upswings. He's been building on his career for a long time now. He's doing very well for himself.
      The Brad Owen way is a slow path to success, but you can slog it out.

    In my opinion (as an Asian), Kitty just want you to be focused.. She knows that you have the potential, but you need to choose ( poker or youtube). Asians might sound harsh at times.. You could prove her wrong if you could do both.. Clearly your unfair advantage is your ability in story telling.. I never played poker (and never will) but watching you on youtube is truly entertaining. Not all youtubers could do what you are capable of..

      @@ce7190 i never played poker (and never will), and just found out about the differences between cash and tournament poker.. like others said in the comments, he is far better going into cash instead of tournaments.. If he's good on that side its better to focus on it.. mayb he wanted to win big as fast as possible.. Rushing into things wont do it if you cant handle it.. Its better to acknowledge your weaknesses and focus on your strengths..

      I just want to add that even amazing tournament players have dry runs. The good thing about tournament play is you could lose 90 in a row and one big finish can put you net positive. I get what you guys are saying, focus on one area, however just because he’s been losing in tournaments doesn’t mean he should give them up. The only way to truly improve is to put yourself in ring and go for it. He and his wife are well aware of this, they are very intelligent people and have a pretty deep understanding of things that go over most people’s heads. A lot of this is for dramatic effect and boy is he good at it.

    Frankie first of all your dad is going to fight like hell for his family he has all our collective prayers to empower him through this fight
    Second of all I’m 62 years old I have two beautiful daughters when I was your age I was in the same position you are in now both with kids marriage and my fathers health issues. I was playing poker every day trying to transition to a place I could provide for my family thing got hard pressure from left and right up and down I gave up my dream
    At 62 I look back and say I wish I could go back and stuck it out follow what your heart and gut say to you go make it happen don’t let hardship take your soul and dreams away go get it my young brother nothing worse then looking back and having to regret about your decision
    I wish you well
    I watch your vids all the time they put such a smile on my face I get to in some way live what I gave up and miss so much through your vids

      Depends on circumstances, min cashes ain't a penny compared to what you get top of the ladder. Bigger stacks build bigger stacks faster too. Sure you can play relatively tight and min cash a bit, but you need to be willing to lose a few tournaments and take the variance for the ones you run deep in.

    Wow! Kitty is a tough love tiger mama. She sees things through eyes of natural poker player, and is able to see the best value of each hand. The conversation was just like a poker hand. She placed her bet with, "You can't keep burning your tournament buy-ins." (It reminds me of Kennie Roger's song, "The Gambler", which goes, "Learn when to walk away, learn when to run.") Frankie raised the stakes with, "Babe, just say out load. Frankie I don't want you to play tournaments." But she was able to make the perfect call, "You don't want to be a poker player. You never really 100% pot commit. You just want to be a youtuber." It is obvious that Frankie does not know when to fold, so he loses the deal. He does not know when to run. So, he loses the pot. His play reminds me of a good amateur chess player who is able to play the obvious strong moves. He is good at the highest amateur level, but loses at the professional level. Chess champion Lasker once said, "The strongest move is often the worst move." Frankie, the day you met Kitty was the day that saved your whole life. Overall, you are still the luckiest guy in the world, even though you obviously suck at professional poker. You are indeed a good UA-camr. Subscriber here. Poker all day long is boring. I am curious what stories you can tell other than poker.

    • @maksfaaoa3264
      @maksfaaoa3264 Місяць тому

      she's right, he's chasing poker content and not playing good poker, I like it how she said "you never pot commited" I guess what she meant was that he should never get himself in positions where he's pot commited and try avoid those situations, the KK vs AA hand for example, guy raises pre Frankie then re-raises, guy ships it now he's somewhat commited and now got himself into a bad situation where he just doesn't know when to let go, if he wasn't after content we could argue he could fold that hand because it's clear that he is up against AA or KK even, but what she is saying is he gets himself into bad spots because his mind is too fixed on content, You're a good dude Frankie, listen to your lady and re-adjust, constructive criticism is a good thing and she clearly wants you to be the great poker player she klnows you can be, all the best go well dude.

  • @neonoir__
    @neonoir__ 5 місяців тому +39

    idk why you're so hellbent on playing tournaments, cash games are just as good content, and a lot of us watch for the storytelling, not the spectacle of high tournament placements. If I was in your shoes, I would play cash games, make content on that, build your bankroll, hone your skills, then play tournaments if you want to at a later time when you have the job security and bankroll for it. You have a lot on your plate, be careful not to crash out. Much love, wish you all the best man

Also, if he keeps playing 2k+ buyins, it's not hard to go into 100k downswings, even if you are an amazing poker player. They have to be really careful, as money can make or doom relationships.

    Frankie I liked how you show the feelings we go through when losing in poker. As a poker player, we all go through losing sessions, not once but in stretches it seems. The key is to survive and be able to limit the loss. In addition, the importance of being able to see through what we did wrong and to make the choices/changes, which at times are hard, to go back to the winning column again. Having a child and playing poker is even harder, I would suppose, than playing poker as a living and having no child to support. As a married person, I will tell you something: "Listen to your wife bro." LOL. Seriously, listen to her as she is a good player as well.

    Yo! just found and subscribed love you story telling! the amount of effort you put into editing is crazy! I did think its crazy ironic how you're driving around in a Porsche talking about being broke though. lol. What happened to the Honda accord???

    Driving a brand new Porsche, you're doing fine bro... You'll be a youtube star, you have the gift. THE CONTENT DOESN'T MATTER.

      You believe for a second it’s his Porsche? Or that he paid for those 1st class flights for their 11 hour flight?
      Here’s what happened, Kitty and her ex broke up because she wanted a baby, but he didn’t.
      Kitty finds a man (boy?) 15 years younger than herself and gets pregnant/has a baby within a year (tick-tock - closing in on 40 without a child)
      Kitty tolerates him for awhile before they end up separated due to the fact that they’re living in 2 different worlds.
      Frankie makes a video about trying to have shared custody with kitty, but things turned toxic and it’s very hard to battle against someone with significantly more money/resources.
      Will this actually happen? Maybe yes, maybe no. Time will tell. I definitely wouldn’t be surprised tho.

    you really good at youtube, extremely good story telling, i think the only think that leave your behind other big creators is the constancy, youtube algorithm love videos at least once a week, and yes, i know you edit your own videos because your probably want them the way you like the most, but getting some help to get more uploads can give you a good boost, and we know a medium youtube chanel makes more money than a medium poker player, good luck in the future mate

      A lot of free content out there on UA-cam! I’ve used a bunch of the sites and they’re all good for getting better, but having individual coaching from better players is what helped me the most.

    Shit Brother, you keep making excellent videos and you will have enough money to continue playing for a long ass time. But I agree with the masses here, stick to cash games get the skills up, maybe do 1 Tourney 2 at the most per year and hard cap you buy ins to 1 or 2 and hold yourself to it. Stay strong man, for yourself and for Tony!
