A few questions. I just tried this acrylic and it pulled up my other colors even after drying for a day. So what kind of paint do you recommend using and do you treat the wood first?
Hi Tracy, I use an acrylic chalk style paint. I had less than 10 minutes of drying between layers for the process. I use Pure Home Paints you can find them on my website here.whimsyandwood.com/kristi-kuehl-pure-home-paints/. I used Frog brand tape here. There are also tapes meant for more delicate painting. They will be labeled as such & are normally in the paint section in your hardware store.
Thank you for the tutorial. I have to paint buffalo plaid on a door hanger and so thankful for your video. My question is what kind of tape did you use? Thank you so much!
Hey just wondering how do you apply your design after you paint the Buffalo plaid ? Do you just use like stencil vinyl I feel like I usually use oracle for my stencils and sometimes when I peel the stencil off it lifts some of my base layer paint and I’m worried if I use that as a stencil it will mess up the buffalo plaid .
I make to sell & stencil vinyl is great, but it can be pricey and normally the shipping adds a lot to the costs. I honestly use the cheap plain white vinyl shelf liner from my local Lowes, I buy clear transfer tape in bulk from expressionsvinyl.com/. Paint pulling up may also be the paint you are using. I use a very durable professional-grade chalked acrylic paint. If using a latex paint, I imagine it could pull up unless cured. whimsyandwood.com/kristi-kuehl-pure-home-paints/
Debbie Vieyra I use and retail Pure Home Paints. There is a little more info in my blog post & all products are available on my website. I used Razorback Red, Derby Black, and Cranberry. whimsyandwood.com/paint-buffalo-check-plaid-background/

This is beautiful! I love love buffalo plaid ❤️🖤
When you put the black on do you cover up. The first maroon, or the second one.
I painted a sign using this for a woman at church. It turned out amazing thank you for the tutorial,

Painters tape-but I think the brand she used may be Frog Tape (it’s the only green one).
How did your door come out?

Where do you get that green tape? Can I use blue painter's tape?
