Only The Grinch Would Refuse To Be Impressed With That Project. Fortunately, I Am Not The Grinch And As Such Gave It A Thumbs Up!

Great Video. Have you ever tried using the frog tape with different colour wood stains?

What a great demo! Thank you for taking the time to film this:) Do you peel up the paint when it’s still wet? Or do you wait until it’s dry? I’m sort of you said this in your video and I missed it.

Hi Laura. Thanks for watching and commenting! I tend to peel off the tape before the paint is completely dry to avoid the paint peeling at the edges.

Hi Michael. Thanks for watching. I used a cellulose lacquer because it needed to be quite durable as a playable chess table... and it doesn't go yellow.

@@garybutler6052 Hey, I make chess boards myself. If you do something similar in the future, avoid the clear coat if you can't find a good matte lacquer. The bright reflection off the lacquer can be very distracting/a nuisance. For many this might not matter too much, but to a discerning buyer/player, this would instantly be a no-go. As a keen player myself, I quickly learned this after I made my first board. Everything should be perfectly consistently visible.
The pieces and board are also better if they don't match colours too closely, with the white especially being much nicer to look at it if it's at least slightly off-white. I know in theory these stark, contrasting, clean colours seems very appealing, but to actually play on it's very 'loud'. The board should just serve its primary purpose of being the backdrop to the pieces, and not create visual noise. One last point, these pieces are significantly oversized for this board if you sold them together.
Other than these few things, neat piece!
