  • 💥RACE FINISH💥
    Team PollyAnne23🇬🇧
Wednesday 31st January at 17:40 local time, Henry Cheape onboard his boat Polly Anne crossed the finish line of the World’s Toughest Row in a time of 49 days, 12 hours and 11 minutes. Arriving as this years 26th boat overall and 5th solo. Henry rowed into the dockyard to the sound of superyacht sirens and roaring applauses all round!👏🏼
As if almost anticipated, Henry timed his arrival to perfection, coming into the bay with a stunning Antiguan sunset and mirror-like seas as his backdrop. 🌅
For a couple of hours prior, he drifted just 2nm miles out from the finish, digesting the last bit of his journey. It was a journey where he, from the start of signing up to the challenge, was put a bit out of his comfort zone but as he said, “I felt safe, and that was a huge threshold of feelings, that you are feeling ok. So, the biggest bit I struggled with was the solitude and missing Lou (Henry’s loving wife).” When asked about the time away from his family, Henry added, “ Its been bloody aweful. But it’s all good. It’s been a massive growing up experience for all of us. We all went about this challenge with the knowledge that it was going to end. We are all lucky here. We come back to here, it’s not an open-ended solitude. I am incredible grateful for that. It was not an experiment. It was a test and that test has now finished this evening and what a welcome! I have never experienced anything like this so, THANK YOU!” 🙏
