    Chain for racing, burnouts , wheelies. I ride fast triple digit all the time no need for chain don’t want the maintenance that comes with it. You have a nice set up and you know what you need for what you do. Nice channel bro

    I’ve got a 08 softtail with tons of work and power although i have no information about the build but just ripped through the belt I don’t think the last 2 owners rode it that hard but it’s got a new owner this is probably one or the better videos I’ve seen so far

    if you lube your chain with the dupont teflon spray it does a great job and doesn't sling!

    Perfect timing for this video Mac. I'm on the fence about doing this upgrade. I have the chain drive and Man O War Compensator in my shopping cart. I'm taking my bike to Deadhorse in June and really don't want to have an issue with my belt wearing down or snapping along the way.

      I always heard that belts were for pants but im definitely trying to keep a belt on my roadking!

    Ek chain vulcan sprocket hands down the best combo. Clean and lube every 500 and you won't have any issues. Follow the instructions on the ek box and use a high grade Gear oil.

      Did you know if you use a belt you never have to oil or maintain it... Just throwing that out there.
      Chains also rob more power than a belt.
      The only advantages to a chain are ease of changing the sprockets and chains. Only important for racing.

    • @officialmac
      @officialmac  11 місяців тому

      Yes i knew that but I make a little to much power for a belt I don't want to be stranded because my belt popped. I always heard they were for pants anyway 🍻

    Great video but you forgot one main Con of converting to chain drive.... I raced all my life, starting with motocross... I raced for Kawasaki and monster energy and have basically seen it all... If you are cruising down the road and snap a belt... well yes that sucks replace it and be on your way.... Break a chain while cruising down the road and the chain bounds itself up between the front sprocket and the engine and it will tear the motor to shreds, busting holes in the motor, then you have a problem that you don`t want to deal with..... Yes breaking a chain is quite rare but I have seen it happen numerous times.... anyhow take care be safe

      I too have Raced a lot of Bikes over the years. Mostly Dirt Bikes and Dual Sports. All of them were chain driven bikes, the last racer was a 1972 Bultaco 250 Flat-Tracker, build to the hilt. The Last Dual Sport was a 1993 KLX 650. Never broke a chain one on either of them. However I replace them often, sprockets too.
      I did break a few along the way. The one time that the chain busted the engine case was while Hill-Climbing under extreme conditions and Total Power On.
      My '89 H-D Sportster XL 1200 Street Tracker went thru the conversion from belt to chain, mainly because the front sprocket was worn-out from the inside. Long story short here the (Front Sprockets), they are obsolete.
      So I've also snapped a few chains along the way too. Having a Master-Link or Two in the Tool Bag will get me back on the Road Again, a whole lot faster than replacing a belt, after all Belts are made to hold your Pants-up... Not your Bike. LOL

    I disagree just because a man has a chain on his bike doesn’t mean he lays down miles or knows his shit chains always been around lol Chains are used to achieve a certain ride to match strength doesn’t make them dependable take care of your belt and you won’t have a problem people going cross country on belt drive have been for decades.

    • @officialmac
      @officialmac  4 місяці тому

      This bike isn't for cross country riding. A belt is good for cruising and not being aggressive on it. With good hp those belts don't last long launching the bikes
