- I recently had my Porsche Boxster in for a major service and the courtesy car they gave me could prove very expensive !
I just had to do a quick review on the new Macan T and give you a look aroung the Porsche Centre Portsmouth show room.

Porsche the corporation like all the big manufacturers set the service intervals not the engineers. I like any engineer would recommend changing oil yearly or 5-10,000 miles. This will greatly extend the life of the engine, exactly what the manufacturer does’t want you to do, after all they want you to buy more cars. Also if you only keep cars for short periods without high miles you won’t care either. A perfect example of this is BMW M5 V10 rod bearings, prone to wear and expensive to repair. I know a BMW specialist who works on these regularly and he has told me that ones that had regular oil changes above recommended never have problems but the ones that don’t, you can set the date they will have to be done. I’m sure there are many other examples.
Ok some highly-strung engines just don’t cope well with mileage (AMG Mercs, BMW M as you described) but Porsche engines generally do way better. Your financial maths only work if you do the oil changes yourself (massively devaluing any prestige branded car) or have a cheap car like a Fabia where a basic service is still only £250. You could spend £6000 on non-scheduled Porsche servicing just to increase the typical rebuild mileage from 125,000 to 175,000. Why bother? Better to spend that money on other items that tire with age such as new shocks and springs at 75k miles instead of waiting for them to collapse.
10,000 miles is still far too many. I'd strongly suggest changing the oil and filter every 3-5,000 miles, or at least every year, whichever comes first.
Moreover, what most people don't know and what Porsche dealers don't tell you is that most owners are driving their cars in conditions that Porsche says are extreme and require halving the service interval. Extreme conditions include having driven in stop-start traffic, which is all those who daily their cars, and having driven on track.
@@neilturner6749 Quite simply, you're wrong. Engine longevity requires changing the oil and filter every 3-5,000 miles. Modern engines are increasingly complex and increasingly include components of questionable quality. We are seeing great increases in the numbers of premature catastrophic engine failures as a direct result of long service intervals. Many failures can be attributed to oil dilution and oil starvation issues.
Porsche engines appear to survive better than many other high performance engines simply because most Porsches are driven regularly. However, Porsche engines suffer from lots of oil leaks as a result of the long service intervals. And the bore scoring issues that many modern Porsche engines suffer from are a direct result of oil dilution, which is greatly exacerbated by the extended service intervals. Yes, the 9x6 and 9x7 engines had design flaws that greatly increased the likelihood of problems, and warming engines from cold by idling them exacerbates those problems, but regular oil changes would have prevented most of the extremely premature engine failures.
Porsche knows this full well but has stuck with ridiculously long service intervals nonetheless.
Fortunately, despite most owners sticking to Porsche's service schedule,
many Porsches aren't doing anywhere near 10K miles a year. But some are doing more, and I see plenty of such cars where owners have further extended the service intervals. Some owners ignore Porsche's service schedule and change the oil more regularly, and those are the cars you want to buy. You certainly don't want to buy the cars that have done more than 10k miles between oil changes. And you also don't want the cars that had their first oil change after many thousands of miles.
Of course, most first owners who don't plan to keep the car beyond the manufacturer's warranty period don't care. And Porsche only cares about the cars surviving the warranty period. However, it's also worth noting that even mass market manufacturers that offer much longer warranties on much more ordinary cars are falling foul of their extended service intervals.
As a general rule, I'd recommend changing the oil every 3-5,000 miles, and otherwise adhering to the manufacturer's service schedule. For most Porsche owners, this would mean doing one additional oil and filter change every two years. And for owners of older cars it is very likely to pay dividends.
Honestly you must be mad not to change your oil at least every 200 miles or every time you stop for fuel, whichever comes first. I prefer to change mine every 100 miles to be certain and I've never had an engine failure in my 1.2l VW lupo.
For extra protection I use vegetable oil or baby oil if I'm feeling flush.
Remember, engines are expensive. Oil is slippery.
@@BlahBloo-vd1hq🤣, absolutely 👍
Had the same experience Pete with BMW...back in 96 bought a new E36 M3 convertible..went in for its first service..they gave me a Ford Ka..needed some warranty work they gave me a Peugeot 106 1.5D..never used that dealer again. I've had various Porsches now for the last 15yrs and not once have they let me leave their site without being in a Porsche..that's how you establish customer loyalty.
Took in my BMW 340i for a service at BMW Warwick and they gave me an M4 as a courtesy car. Now I have an M4 😂
After my 640d GC was hit in 2021, I was given a 840dx coupe as a loan car. I bought my 840i GC last year😂.
@@k17sher the six series GC was a far more beautiful car than the new eight series in my opinion .
I’ve owned both of them .
None of us know what's around the corner - I used my Porsche everyday and loved every minute of it! 👍
A story about courtesy car, a dealer you work with, in Chichester. I took my F type in for a service, I’d pre ordered a loan car. We were taken out the front, Becky the service manager said, “ we’ve spoilt you today!” There in front of me a brand new ( 2023) Aston Martin vantage convertible for the afternoon, it’s can’t get any better than that, although she said this is specced to £ 176k
We had fun around Goodwood that afternoon 😁👍🏻
That’ll be Harwoods then 😜👍
You are absolutely right, Porsche do know what they're doing. Like other manufacturers with ridiculous service intervals, they want your engine to wear out prematurely so they can charge you to fix it. Just ask any engine builder about the importance of regular oil changes. And as for letting them wash your car, rather you than me as they will install swirl marks for no extra cost. I knew a Porsche tech and he used to joke that they charged 3hrs labour for removing the oil drain plug and waiting 3hrs for it to drip out.... There is no way on earth you're getting anything special from Porsche for the crazy money they charge for servicing. Don't get me wrong, you are doing the right thing keeping the main dealer service up to date for resale purposes, but they are just ripping customers off (which isn't unique to Porsche)
Did you watch the Video? My 05 Boxster S had oil change intervals of 20,000 miles or two years. It was later amended to 12,000 miles or one year. Bear in mind the oil capacity is 8 quarts.
2 year service interval on a Porsche is insanity! Max 7500miles between oil services, especially if you have a turbocharged car. The oil needs to lubricate and cool the turbo and engine parts. I actually cannot believe Porsche themselves set this as the service interval
I’m old school. 10:000 miles is the max I would do without a service. I could be wrong but I believe manufacturers just want us to ruin the engine within 100,000 miles.
Service cost wasn't too bad really, considering it's a Porsche. Less than I was expecting you to say anyway, even before the discount. It's true what you say about courtesy cars. When my i30N went in for a service once, they lent me the fastback version. I liked it so much I bought it, after a bit of haggling!
Pete, as a PCGB member for no extra charge you can get an Esso card which gives you 6 p per litre discount on 98 Ron fuel. You can use that card on ANY car. Saves money.
Is this available for other brands like MINI owners clubs?
If you are a member of PCGB you use 98/99 Ron fuel you can buy Esso fuel to put in your mower. Other Esso fuels, I think the discount is less. I think you can join PCGB if you don’t have a Porsche. I’m sure there are T&C s on the website. Membership is circa £70/75, so you would need to use a lot of fuel to recoup this in a year. But there are many other benefits to being a member if you own a Porsche.
I extended the Porsche warranty on my 3 year old Macan S, and within 3 months it needed a new air-strut and compressor. All covered by the Porsche warranty, the bill otherwise would have been £5,250!! In my view it’s a no brainier extending the Porsche warranty. Remember that labour costs nearly £200 an hour at the OPC.
TWO years - wow, I remember you picking that up. How time flies 🎉
I know right 😮
16:27 now I’m liking the Coat! 👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
So true about courtesy cars! I’ve had 6 Porsches since 2009, and driven every car they have.
How was the 959 & 718 spyder?
@@jamesarmitage8399 :-) Clever dick! The Spyder was wonderful! Thanks for asking.
Another good episode Pete. Thanks. My daily was bought from OPC Swindon it's a Macan Turbo. It's an absolute weapon of a daily. Understated, in Crayon. Burmester and Air Suspension, fully loaded. MPG isn't too bad either for such a great and property fast car. The Macan T wouldn't really do it for me but OPC Swindon know I'm taking my car in for a major service soon and that I want to try a full fat 2024 Cayenne and I need a courtesy car....Porsche do it right which others could learn from.
You are going to let the dealer wash your pride & joy....are you mad?!!!!
In fairness, we've seen Ped wash a car before... 🙈
Oy 😮😂
@PetrolPed I only say it out of kindest, Peter!
You know it's true! 😄
@@rotorhead5006My metallic black Boxster had the softest paint I’ve ever had on a car…..it was terrible, washing it was a worrying event.
@harrycummings6501 I can imagine. Seen too many horrors at dealerships, and elsewhere, so don't let anybody loose on my cars now!
Just done 20k miles in our Macan T - love it! Perfect daily complement to proper Porsche sports cars and easily the sweetest Macan dynamically - V6 puts too much weight over the front wheels. Agreed, four-pot motor sounds a bit dull but performance is plenty for such a lightweight SUV (how fast do you want to go in a school run bus?). PDK auto transmission is super-responsive too and manual operation is superb - just hit the "M" button on the steering wheel.
Just noticed you have a GTI too! I have both too, a 2021 VW Golf GTI and a 2018 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS. I'm saving up for my 2 year service too. I'm seriously moving out of my apartment to pay for it. Worth it though, apartments are a dime a dozen right now in Colorado. Nice car you have btw and thanks for the informative video!
Great cars but sadly it was a press car 😢
I do like the looks and sound of the Macan! A nice blog Sir Pete
I took my 911 to Porsche Leeds for its last service, booked a curtesy car a month or so in advance like you say.
They brought round an Audi A6!!!
I was so disappointed I just said I’d wait in showroom while they completed my service.
13:05 absolutely agree.
The v6 Macan is the sweet spot.
I well remember the joy of living near Portsmouth decades ago when I had two V8 Aston Martins (but the weather hasnt improved). My take on the courtesy car is that I no longer want one after my recent experience having a Macan while my GT4RS was being serviced. I wasn't careful enough reversing out of a car space and put the tiniest of abrasions on the wheel arch - a one inch long bruise that didnt seem to break the paint. I told Porsche about it and they gave me a bill of over $1500 as they said they had to get it repaired at a Porsche approved paint shop and not choose a cheaper option so when they sold the car they didnt have to acknowledge the repair. My fault entirely but an Uber would have been less stressful.
Kelly @ Porsche Portsmouth is excellent in the service team. You’re not always guaranteed a Porsche though as a courtesy car, I’ve been given an Audi Q5 previously!
I've been given a low-spec golf as a courtesy car from OPC.
F type v6 awd....oil in my garage, 60 dollars with a mightvac. I do it every 5k miles since I think long intervals are BAD for things like bores, timing chains....etc. Takes 20 minutes to do it in my garage. Air filters and diffs/transfer case fluids were about 300 dollars plus fluids/parts (another 150 dollars..iridium plugs). I am happy to avoid dealers, especially the P car dealers...
Hallo from Switzerland! I own a 718 Boxster which i love and - interestingly - services cost exactly the same as in the UK. At home we also have the latest Macan S with GTS trim and suspensions. After a Macan diesel and a Macan S, this is by far the better one to drive. Amazingly sporty and comfy for an Suv. Always enjoying your videos 👍 Best
I usually don't give the Porsche brand much thought as I'm currently besotted with a local carpenter's Maclaren, but that dealer's showroom was incredible!
Take a look at Tom Hartley Jnr’s showroom!! Amazing.
Thanks for this one. What an insight into the cost etc of servicing a Porsche. Couldn't agree more about courtesy cars, spot on.
Glad you enjoyed it
There is a little button on the steering wheel with a ‘-M+’ that will lock manual mode. The gen 2 used to be the same as your 718, but gen 3 switched to a stubbier shifter without the push to the left manual mode. They are great cars.
Thanks 🙏🏻
During my recent service I was also loan a Macan T, as you say really nice to drive and well built. I just found it underpowered, 265bhp is just not enough for that size of car. I wonder why they detuned it so much, the 2.0L produces 300bhp in the Cayman and Boxster.
I agree, you couldn't pull your foreskin back with that engine it's wheezy and gutless. Hard to believe it's the same lump in the Golf GTi.
Did you find the button on the steering wheel for manual shift?
Love your channel!
😃yeah took me months to notice it on my wheel! I use the manual shift paddles so rarely that the auto-revert back to full-automatic mode never bothered me.
I have never taken my car to a car wash and always request that the dealer not wash my car. I wash my car based on the premise that if you want something done right you do it yourself.
Porsche club discount at my Porsche Dealership is only 10% & Portsmouth are offering you an extremely good deal at 25% & keep making these excellent videos & enjoy your Boxster too.
Thanks for sharing!
Thought the boxer was getting chopped in Pete what a show room my next car is a boxter always wanted one thanks for the service costs happy motoring 👍
Getting the garage done first 😂
Great video as always fella. My dad never usually bothered with courtesy cars. They used to pick it up and drop it off or if it was the Porsche, camtune were based for a long time by godalming station and he worked a ten minute walk from guildford station, so seemed pointless. When they moved to brooklands, he used to get into a fiesta. As he said, it’d have taken a special car to get him out of his 87 carrera.
It always strikes me as odd that when a main dealer charges what seems a lot of money to me (not a dig at Porsche; just a lot) the customer comments that there's no charge for the courtesy car. In my mind no, there's not. But the service charge includes the frills of expensive courtesy cars, shiny glass showrooms, coffee on tap etc. I use an independent workshop.
Manual gears button is on steering wheel Pete
Thanks 🙏🏻
One day, one day I’ll manage to drive one. 👍👍🇬🇧
I use Portsmouth for servicing my 3RS and echo the comments about Kelly. Wish I’d known about the club member discount which would’ve saved me £700 but having said that, they are cheaper to use than OPCs closer to London anyway. I had a Macan GTS loaner. Loved it but it’s a lot of money for a car about to be replaced. I’m not a fan of all of the haptic buttons and moving the manual override to the steering wheel took me a while to find too, and is a change for change sake in my view.
The pot holes are everywhere mate we should tell all mp when they want your vote
For six years in a row my local county council boasted that they had not raised Council Tax, meanwhile the very structures that they were responsible for are failing. You get what you pay for.
In theory your non-standard exhaust should mean they'll decline an extended warranty. Good luck.
Apparently if you take out the extended warranty, fitting tyres outside the dealer network can invalidate the warranty. Remember Block exemption does not apply to manufacturers extended warranty.
I’ve never heard of exhaust voiding a warranty, except maybe on the exhaust itself.
@@hbullockyep if you’ve only changed Cat-&-OPF rearwards (ie back box) that doesn’t impact warranties.
@@robinoconnor1203 i put Zunsport grills on my 718 and was told it invalidates the warranty.
I’ve never heard of a cat-back voiding a warranty. But start messing with headers and cats, or intakes and tunes, and you are playing with fire.
Agree re Courtesy car, recently had my Cayman serviced at Porsche Norwich and they put me in a brand new Taycan 4S
Nice 👌
activate manual gear change push the button marked M which is in the left hand cluster on the steering wheel.
If you pressed the M button on the wheel it would have given you manual PDK gearshift. The Macan is a great car, after three years just sold my GTS and got a m3 touring
Thanks 🙏🏻
Judging by my own experience I think Porsche engines are pretty well engineered, my 78k miles 2000 MY 986 Boxster 2.7 has, what could kindly be described as sketchy, more accurately as piss-poor, service history but runs beautifully and I don't have to top up oil between changes.
I do my own maintenance and change the oil once a year which equates to around 3-4K miles. The joys of owning an old snotter!
All journeys in a Porsche are fun, even the long straight ones 👍
The service schedule by Porsche and other manufacturers are set for the lease companies and to meet environmental policies not from an engineering point, manufacturers have made the calculations that the bulk of the cars will meet the lease period/miles and warranty period, after that they don’t care. Yes oils can make the schedule but the damage is calmative and means serious damage to chains, bores, bearings, cam’s and tappets.
Also cleaning in winter is critical especially underneath as the road salts and mud/cow poop etc will cause a lot of corrosion.
Agree with the cleaning, even if only a quick sloosh with a soft mop in a bucket and cold hose over the wheels. Learnt from riding motorbikes in winter the salt corrosion is terrible.
You want to stay off the drugs mate.
Torn between a 718S or the taycan 4S as the price has dropped dramatically.....will you do a video on the subject 🤔 🙏🏼
I like the Macan too. Could you have a look other ‘T’ models in the Porsche range and review? Definitely think they are the thinking man’s Porsche.
👍
I feel your pain. 😁
Just had my main dealer major service on my Velar D300, £1060 and an MoT on top of that. Ouch.
I have my Cayenne booked in for a major service in July at Porsche Leeds, I need to ask if they give PCGB members discount as I have been a member for 2 years. Thanks for the heads up and great video.
Great to know about the Porsche Club discount, thank you 👍
This must be for Porsche Portsmouth only because Brooklands Porsche you only get 10% off parts
No problem 👍
Evo pal, where on Earth has the 2yrs gone???👍🇬🇧
I am adding this comment from a hotel in Leipzig, here with PCGB Macan and Panerama Registers trip to celbrate 10 year of the Macan and 15 of the Panamera. This morning I driven on the Porsche Expeirence center track , A Taycan S, a Panamera 4 and a 911S plus Cayenne S on offroad course. Between the track cars I would take the Pani on a long European Rd trip restricted to motorways, the 911 on say the NC500 and The Taycan just on a short blast from home due to range issues but otherwise amazing , i was leaving the 911 following behind me. but all that said I decided as a 2019 Macan S owner a V6 Macan suits my needs and use best of the Pors in the ranges.
In the afterrnoon we did a factory tour seeing Pani;s, Macan ICE and new Macan EV pass down thier common assembly line
Gen 1and Gen 2 Macans are like your Boxter for selecting Manual paddle use. On the Gen 3 Macans, there is a button M on the lhs of steering wheel for changing in and out of manual mode
Not sure if that one has air suspension, but the ones with air suspension are another level of comfort
Dealers tended to fit air ride on their demos but only the insane buyer would’ve specced it on a 2.0 Macan - it was way too much £ as a % of the cars value and took it up into V6 money. I say “took it” as ICE Macan is now done for the EU market, I believe.
@@neilturner6749 curious cuz I've had 4 of these as loaners, only one of them had it
In this age of motoring, 4 pot, 2 litre cars are good news. They are easily capable of delivering 300bhp, which today is adequate on the public roads. However, if you enjoy attending Speed Awareness Courses, or collecting points drive a monster 😊
Pete's is 2.5 but I get what you are saying
I have owned and am on my 6th Porsche, Cayman GTS4.0L I’ve never had a Porche courtesy car yet
That must have been a whie ago as there was no work on the garage/barn going on
Yep big continuity error 👍🏻
Check out the trees, no leaves
Noted that but, not the end of the world.
Nice to see again what it used to look like!
Another excellent video Ped interesting and informative.Thank,you.👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
I gather this was this recorded before your garage rebuild?
Yep. Good spot 👍
Audi /vw ea888 2.0t engine is in that macan
I don’t think you can order a new Macan any more, Pete, at least not in Europe. Lots of stuff in the press earlier this year saying production ending July 2024.
I believe in Sport+ the transmission will stay in manual mode
Nice review / story as always. I thought macans were ev now?
When I brought my 718 in for a service at the dealer, I got a boring Golf GTE as a loaner.
State of those roads I'd but an old Subaru Forester 😮
Our Jag is in the garage for a brake pressure module failure (under warranty) repair and we have a 73 plate Evoque D200 HSE which is very nice. My wife has always had a dislike for the Evoque but has requested to be put on the Insurance as we have the car for another 10 days so maybe this could be a contender for the replacement for the Jag in September. I was nearly on AutoTrader myself looking at Macan until you mentioned the prices. I guess I would be extremely upset if I got a Fiesta from a JLR dealer as a courtesy car. How does the Macan shape up against the Defender ?
I had the same service at Porsche South Lakes last year, no discount if a Porsche GB member but they did price match a quote from Porsche Preston. No Porsche curtesy car, I was given an Audi Q3? So no temptation for me. That 25% discount would cover a trip down south, maybe next time.
I think that level of discount is for R17 Southern Region members and may not apply to all
Noted, thank you.@@pmgsussex
I use collect and deliver for my service needs. No wasted time at the dealers.
Doesn’t the soft top needs servicing to keep it waterproof?
There are treatments available the the soft top 👍
Porsche Bolton only charged my wife £880 in December for a 20000 mile service on her Boxster 4.0GTS🤷♂️
Peds wasn’t in for a standard 2 year service, his car’s from 2018 or 2019, so was scheduled for a “Major Inspection” based upon age. He should’ve made that clearer.
Hey at least in the UK they put cones up. In South Carolina, they give you a 65 mile an hour speed limit on Interstate 77 near Columbia, the Capital of SC, and their bridges are in such bad shape that the pot holes have pot holes, and when you go through [into I should say] them, you will have a flat, if not an expensive axle repair. Anyway, I threatended to (1) put up my own cones [Jane my wife suggested I might get arrested] or (2) mark through all the 65 MPH signs and write 45 with watch for potholes on it [she didn't even respond to that one]... oh well.
Very nice pp the dealer ships should do more 😊
Independant evidence and oil analysis shows that 2 year service intervals on any car, let alone a performance car is too long. Its primarily designed to be financially attractive to people using a short term lease or PCP deal.
If I was keeping the car long term I would rather service the car twice as often at an independant specialist which would be about half that price per service. Independant specialists are also more likely to make you aware of common issues rather than have to tow the manufacturers party line on what to tell their customers.
From my experience, my trust in franchise dealers is low. Local independants who rely on reviews and referrals are the way to go. Or do the servicing yourself on older cars.
Sadly though , a non-Porsche service history inside the warranty period is curtains for your used price.
Macans are nice however even the GTS would not see which way a X3M or GLC63s had went.
The service intervals, I think in the States it's every 10K or 12 months. That's so odd.
I like the Macan, but I'd rather have a Stelvio. If I needed that type of car.
I agree that the courtesy car should be part of the range, but then again the costs would go up. More....
Filmed before the garage, shed, lean-to etc was started? Is that right Ped? Just checking I’ve not slipped through a black hole. 🤔
Yes. Well spotted 👍
Thank God, thanks I’ll stay on the trancs!
just bought a 2022 mint Audi SQ5 with 7000 miles on it from Audi Houston for $46K - way better deal than the Macan for 90% of the car for way less money. Try the SQ5.
For every day usage and normal driving, I defo agree with the Audi being 90% of a Macan but for use as a driver’s car, the Audi barely hits 60%. In this guise, the Macan runs rings around the Audi all day long. Courses for horses, I guess.
I play guitar. Occasionally I will have a GAS attack (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) where I just have to get a new guitar, amp or effects pedal. You just had the automotive equivalent. I suspect it's not the first time you've had GAS, though. It can be a big problem.
Re the auto reverting back to D from manual. If you are going down hill it should sense this and not drop back into D until you get on the flat
Hi ,you gotta try the macan s ,I’ve got the sports chrono pack with DRS. Fantastic
Will do
Unfortunately for me I have had a BMW & A Volkswagon as courtesy cars from Porsche & last time they had double booked the courtesy car so booked me a taxi.
Like videos like this mate, I did think the discount was for having only 4 spark plugs 😉
P.s I’ve only got 3 🤦🏼♂️😂
Hi could you advise us if it’s worth joining the Porsche owners club, I’m relatively new to my 911 and loving it but would really like some second opinions on how it acts on start up and thought joining the club I could get to speak with others and compare, as it’s under warranty still but not for too long now. Appreciate your advice.
Always great to have a community of like minded people to interact with. I have only been to a couple of events but impressed so far.
There are also some online groups and forums you could join. On Facebook for example. Just be ready for a complete spread of opinions 😂
@@PetrolPed thanks, I don’t really do Facebook or Forums as like you say, too many varied opinions from people who don’t really know too much.

I’ll look in to it more, thanks
Hi buddy There is a button on the steering wheel to hold it in manual! Great video once again
Cool, thanks
As you bought from harbour cars would you not of got a better price for a service from the specialist garage associated with them?
Keen to keep the cars full Porsche history 👍
BMW once gave me a nice spec 4 convertible as a courtesy car. Didn't have the money back then but if I had...
I personally don't like the Macan's. I find them difficult to get in & out of. They are lovely to drive though. P.S. I work for Porsche
Thinking mans Macan, never heard that before lol
Mad, mad, mad! Leaving your oil without changing for TWO YEARS and letting them wash your car but worried about putting miles on the car? 😮😮😮 Love the channel and have been following for years but this video shows how most people in this country don't really care as much about their cars as people in surrounding countries and further afield do. On the point about the oil, you should have sent it for testing to see if viscosity and contamination are still within tolerance. You'd be surprised. 😉
Ped manufacturers speculative service interval lengths are to be taken with a pinch of salt. 2 years without an oil change in our climate is simply nuts sorry. Every 5 to 7k max is much better if you wish to keep her long term. For the sake of argument get a sample of your old 2 year old oil and send it to the millers oil lab and see what comes back.. 👍
22000 miles in my 992 Carrera S in 12m , drive it all year round
That’s the way to do it. ❤

I disagree with your thinking of engineers having designed an oil for that duration of time.
Rather just send it in for an oil change once a year or 10k.
Cheers mate
Have you checked the criteria of having the Zunsport grills fitted? My local OPC advised it would fail the 111 point check as they are not standard and therefore not offer me a warranty on my 981 Boxster GTS….ridiculous!!
Absolutely ridiculous 🙄
Yes you are correct, OPC Brooklands stated the same. I suppose on one level I can understand Porsche wanting to exclude any grey areas by insisting if you have mods the warranty is invalid however ridiculous this may sound in the face of it.
@@hpman911 absolutely! I totally agree with engine mods etc but the grills are purely to protect and I can’t see having an issue with air flow, crazy!!
@@Rico1973 yes totally agree with you but I suppose it’s their warranty so they make the rules and logic doesn’t seem to really come into it !🤷🏼♂️🤯
If you renew before your warranty runs out you don't have to pay for the inspection
