    Just when I thought you couldn’t look more stunning here you go! I was zooming in thinking oh my gosh what has she done??!!! Your skin is so glowy!!! Your eye makeup is unbelievable. The woman at the counter knew what she was talking about. You are so lucky to have those big beautiful blue eyes. They are literally show stopping 6:42 and those colors really bring them out even more. Wow. Just wow. ❤

    Hi Cherie. Even before you began speaking I thought your makeup looked lovely. I wanted to ask what you had on, as your skin looks dewy and glowing, not greasy. Re Holi, there will always be people who want to be offended, usually on behalf of a culture not their own. Nothing wrong with cultural appreciation. 😊

    Thankyou Cherie for a very interesting episode.No need for apologies for the Rebecca Thompson Holi scent elaboration ( from Brighton in Melbourne...Bright is in regional VIC).There will always be people who have sensitivities that are sometimes out of your control.Your makeup is👌 and your glowy skin even better👌👌♥️.You do you,young lady. Favourite quote from you today..." It the takes you down a deep,dark pathway and then makes a sharp left...." ( sounds like my life! 🤭)Hope you have a less stressful week xx

    You look lovely…but you always do! Should I be ashamed that I never iron my sheets? lol! If someone spent a great deal of time in a different country, naming a perfume after a special part of that other culture is a sort of homage…at least it seems like that to me. Gris Clair is so nice … meditative …lovely…patient…and alive. Ma Beste is great!

    I think your skin tone would be better with more rose, pink, cool shades which would compliment your eyes and hair. I pulled out my Serge Lutens Fleurs d'Oranger, its so unusual, sweet, orangey, delicious. Then I pulled out Poeme by Lancome, another sweet perfume. I can only wear it below my waist, its so powerful. Both really nice.

    • @TheTopNote

    Your skin looks very radiant and beautiful! Orangey eyeshadows will work only for those with very warm skin udertone and blue eyes. Although I have blue eyes, those warm eyesahows make me look sickly. Neutral, taupy browns work wonders, tho. They make my eyes look very blue. I would go into that direction in your case too.

    • @TheTopNote
      @TheTopNote  6 місяців тому

      Thank you thank you! Yes thats exactly how I feel too, that it made me look sickly (hence the uncle fester reference lol) I will definitley hunt down some taupey shades 😍

  • @Martina-DS
    @Martina-DS 6 місяців тому +3

    Your natural skin and tone are gorgeous. I agree with the commenter above about recommending taupe for eyeshadow. I understand the color theory behind copper tones to help blue eyes pop, but your skin seems to have more blue/neutral undertones. You may want to try more rosy pink or something similar to your lip color. Or whatever. Playing with makeup is fun, and you can rock whatever you want to rock. You glow either way.

    • @TheTopNote
      @TheTopNote  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for this! I took your advice and dug out some of the rosy pinks in my makeup bag and have been blending the tiniest amount of warmer tones through them and its been great! I have to have a look at what I have and see if I can locate some taupe ones

    Your eyes look very blue. The glow/bronzer is a bit shiny, but that is the trend right now. I see people with super shiny noses and cheeks all over. The matte look is nowhere to be seen. I think it is nice to experiment.

    Heyyy Cheri, thanks for this! Always great hearing your thoughts. I'm so close to pulling the trigger on Blondine 💪 I've managed to sample it (wasn't easy to get, lol) and it was love at first sniff. I have a feeling longevity may be lacking on my skin tho, what are your experiences with it ooi? 🤔 I also got my nose on the new Serge Lutens La Fille Tour De Fer, i think that's what it's called. rosey heaven and longevity is good. Possibly more spring/summer, but a nice one 👌🌹 xx

      I will have to check out that Serge! Blondine lasts well on me but projection drops away after a few hours. If I wear it to work I can still smell it on me at the end of the day though. i think you can get travel sizes as well? Perhaps that is the next step up if you arent ready to commit to the bottle :)

    I recently picked up a sample of Le Pavillon D'Or, but I haven’t fallen for it yet. I’ll revisit is some different weather and see if anything shifts.

      @TheTopNote  6 місяців тому +1

      Sadly I have not yet tried the new New Look so I can’t compare. Pikovaya is like an ambery aldehydic fragrance, I haven’t seen any reviews on the New Look but have a feeling it might lean in a different direction?

    The makeup works... it gives you a very soft relaxed look. I love natural makeup, which gently warms the face.. and yes your eyes do pop, with that shadow. Modern makeup trends are over the top. Women, especially young women don't seem to realise how ridiculous and desperate for attention they look. So sad .. oops was that a rant. Anyway what does Matt think of it?

    It's hard to know what your makeup looks like in person, because the lights and camera wash colours out (you can barely see the bronzer), plus it seems like you may have some sort of filter on?

    • @TheTopNote

      No filter that I’m aware of but the lights are bright. I still felt even in editing that the colour was a bit warm for me though.

    Pavillon D'Or is a stunning fragrance, i definitely need to start spraying it now that Spring is here in UK 👍. I agree it smells golden. Most people say it's green, but I've always found it more yellow/ golden. Like a hazy meadow scent.
    Rose trombone is a lovely scent, i revisited my sample recently because i sold my bottle ages ago and started thinking of it again. I think the dry down went a little too dry and waxy on me, but it's still a great scent.
    I just love those mini xerjoff bottles. Wish the brand made them more available.

      I think the eye shades were from an EM Cosmetics palette called Divine Skies. The bronzer I was using was the Chanel one (again another sample) and I think that is what I felt was a bit too orange. I might have overdone it though, Ive been using a lighter touch lately and I think I like it better.

    Hi Cherie, I tried Gris Clair a long time ago and I instantly thought of a Spa, I wear Ani when I need to feel calm, vanilla seems to do it for me. I bought a vintage! of FdO by SL and I am so glad. (I have never bought any vintage, I find it so risky...) the freshness of the beginning is actually gone but then is a bliss, less jasmin and cumin than the current versión and the orange blossom, tuberose, hibiscus mix is so beautiful! Exactly as I remembered😊. Regarding your make up I think it looks great, but orange & copper are difficult colours, maybe make sure ypu conceal the redness around the nose and under the eyes. But it looks very good on you! That dress moment 😍

    Yeyyyy, you wore my fave! I looove Пиковая Дама (Pikovaya Dama) , love the book n opera and everything bc I am Russian. Mind you I bought it in Aotearoa and since I moved back to Russia in 2022 the perfume has changed from the beginning as it could be the difference in climate I live in the Urals in Ekaterinburg and I personally in NZ it was better because of the humidity and heat. I know some guys wore in in UAE 🇦🇪 and it does have a good performance there as well. If I had to wear only one perfume it has to be this one. It does smell like the perfumes our ancestors wore in the past it gives me that vibe but in a obviously modern interpretation of it... I love your list of perfumes you described. And as you mentioned about the bronzer I have the same skin tone and I don't like wearing it on me. 🙌 I think you look absolutely gorgeous the way you are naturally although this is worth typing and I might be wrong as I am not an expert at all.

    • @TheTopNote
      @TheTopNote  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks Lana! Yes Im sure the NZ temperatures helped it to bloom more, I imagine a lot of perfumes must struggle in the bitter cold of the Urals! Im not expert either haha hence I was appealing to the make up aficionados for advice - mind you I think a lot of success with make up comes with experimentation.
