Its incredible, awesome, breathtaking!!! It has some similarity to India's dance forms perhaps to the graceful slow-paced 'odissi' and the bindi-like pendant hanging over the forehead of the danseuse suggests an Indian link. The dynamics though is far ahead in grace and clockwork precision, creditable to Japanese or Chinese (recall the grand show at the latest Olympics) artistes, one tends to conclude. The typically soothening east Asian music lends the performance a magical aura!
Ancient Chinese dance and music. They are modeled from Buddhist murals dating back more than 1,000 years in China. The girls unfortunately are deaf but did amazing dance show.
@WristCutGauze I found more of these videos. I think it may be a Chinese troupe that travels around Asia. Wherever they're from, it's an impressive performance.
Kannon-sama is also known as Kuan Yin in Chinese or Avalokitasvara in Sanskrit. It is a personification of the quality of humanity known as compassion. She has many hands to offer assistance to anyone who may need it.
Oh, I forgot about vibration. You're right they also probably need to feel vibration to dance right for hearing audience. I know a deaf man who danced in a way of storytelling without music. He danced the best I ever seen. Sort of breakdance.
@Einsatsgruppen the audience was not "unsupportive". I watched this live on tv when it aired. 24hour tv is no joke, the people you see clapping are the hosts, they had been awake for far more than 24 hours by the time it ended. Their expressions are due to exhaustion not to lack of interest. I was on the verge of passing out myself while watching 24hr tv that year. I watched 18 or so of the 24 hours.
@spathyd Despite the Balinese belly dance costumes (TV costume designers are the same around the world) the writing was in Japanese. I suspect the choreography was put together from whatever they thought would look good on screen, but with a nod toward Indian dance. But it was very well done.
The thing I like about this video is I can put on some crazy ass music and mute the original and it's about a billion times better. I just listened to some Does It Offend You Yeah? while viewing and it was siiiiiiiiiick.
@tomokioh It's foolish to be so sure of everything. We're more sensitive to vibration. Maybe they do good job on timing. Or maybe music pace was adjusted for them. I believe the former is more likely. Don't ask me. Ask those dancers.
people on facebook and twitter are so rude when it comes to different nationalisties the world is full of people that are better, powerful, faster, smart, talented. the point is enjoy one's world and you know what u might learn something
Well I'll be! Even those Japanese did their own version of The Cosby Show opening! Did an extended version, at that! (Waits to see how many people take him seriously.)
You don't understand about deafness. It's not amazing that they are deaf. Deaf people can do anything except a few things like being a pilot that is required to use microphone. To do that play, you need to use your brain and eyes, not your ears, to memorize and see where you're. They're amazing for their ambition and creativity.
No, it's not impressive that they overcame something very limiting, because they can do anything. It is impressive if a hearing person knows that. Yes, they're, of course, actually deaf.
Lovely. Just absolutely lovely!
Ahh the wonders of the world's diverse cultures are just Breathtaking.
awesome performance.......
No sé si me sorprende más el precioso espectáculo o los poco entusiastas aplausos...

We can feel vibration from the floor and memorize movement and timing. When I was a kid, I was a dancer for a school. That was how we did.

@RAZKUL1andOnly wait - where does it say they're all deaf? Is that true????
I dunno, they have an amazing sense of rhythm to the music, though. Unless their was a conductor there, that truly is the most amazing part.
deaf people generate a sence that is very perfect ,through which they can hear.that is cool.
...don't think I've ever seen so many people I'd do on stage at once...
The thing I like about this video is I can put on some crazy ass music and mute the original and it's about a billion times better. I just listened to some Does It Offend You Yeah? while viewing and it was siiiiiiiiiick.
whoaa!

Yeah, I see what you mean. I meant no disrespect, I was just giving the perspective I thought the person that commented before me had.
@Einsatsgruppen I saw another video called "Deaf dancers find fame in China"
Well I'll be! Even those Japanese did their own version of The Cosby Show opening! Did an extended version, at that! (Waits to see how many people take him seriously.)

No, it's not impressive that they overcame something very limiting, because they can do anything. It is impressive if a hearing person knows that.
Yes, they're, of course, actually deaf.
It would be better if she mercifully pummeled the planet with a thousand flaming fireballs. Just kidding, it was amazing.
pretty sure I read these dancers are actually deaf and they just learned his routine based on timing
Someone should totally take this video and play the Cosby Show theme song over it.
