This is just plain amazing to watch--I love the parts where he just suspends it in mid-air, making it look like it was just a soap-bubble, rather than a rather heavy glass ball...

Contact Juggling balls like this are generally made out of Acryllic. It looks the same as glass or crystal but it doesn't shatter if you drop it.
This guy is very good. Well done JCJC!

I remember when I first watched this years ago, I honestly thought the ball was somehow photosopped into the scene. So perfect and surreal.

its not computer generated, the guy is just unbelievably good at contact juggling. Also the ball he's using is made of acrylic and is clear, giving the illusion that its staying still even when its spinning and moving.

What's funny is that the illusions where he's more or less just holding the ball and moving his hands seem cooler than the more difficult maneuvers like the body rolls and such.

That was awesome. No way around it. That takes serious coordination, practice, and skill.
Plus, nice taste in music. Perfect ambience for some orb-rolling.
I've seen orb dancers at electronica events (for instance, Detroit's Movement/DEMF)- this is most definitely real.

  • @chris230230
    @chris230230 16 років тому

Those who practice contact juggling as a circus skill know that the orb is supposed to look like an orb of light that the person is not controlling, as much as working with. His isolations were pretty much perfect, which probably added to the effect for you.

  • @labowskidave

that was amazing!! i really didnt believe it at first...thinking the ball was added later by some computer graphics or something..

The ball is made of really thin glass. This makes the ball light, and the centrifugal gravitational force won't affect it as much as it would a heavy ball.

The ball is moving. When he makes it look like he slides his hands around it, he's actually holding on to it and rolling it in his hands.
Also, it's transparent, so it looks like it isn't moving.
It's all real, just a big optical illusion.

We've all seen this before somewhere. So don't be crazy about it. I was excited after seeing this video, seeing what all you could do with one transparent ball. I decided that it was right up my alley. So I bought a few balls and have been practicing sometimes.
No need to pick a moment or analyze anything. Just watch the video and keep you're negative comments to yourself. I seriously doubt the preformer posted the video, so why
    waste your time.

Can you even comprehend the difficulty of performing what this man has done?
Can you even understand, the sheer amount of hours put into practicing but one of these tricks?
Can you fathom the precision required to control a ball to such a degree?
Obviously not. "Is it even hard?" How about you purchase an acrylic and try a simple isolation, or even the Butterfly. Then ask "Is it even hard?".

A possible explanation for the ball standing still:
They could have edited each individual frame of the video so that the ball is in the same position in each frame.
