- Making tortilla chips at home is easier than you think, especially if you have an air fryer. This video shows how to make your own corn chips at home using just tortillas, oil and an air fryer. In about 20 minutes, you can make crispy, crunchy, delicious chips for a fraction of their usual price.
Liked your video on the tortilla chips. What I usually do when I need to coat food is I'll put ribs, potato wedges or whatever else into a large zip lock bag, add a little oil and the seasonings then toss and turn the food in the bag. I get a nice even coating without a mess. With ribs, chicken strips, etc you can add the barbecue sauce into the bag and toss around then dump onto a baking sheet or pan. I've never done chips but will do some now.
Note: if you don't crowd the chips and cook in batches you might not need to check them so often. The adding of taco season was a great idea. Thanks for the air fryer technique.
Great idea and thanks for watching! 🙏
I am so excited, not only because you sound excited, but also because I found your recipe This definately gave me a great idea! I can make toastada shells this way! My favorite dip for tortilla chips, is guacamole, either to dip the chips into, on my tachos, or, to put on as a topping with nachos. I have the Cosori air fryer, SMART version. Is this the one you have? Finally, that when it comes to making something like this, because I'm blind, I'm a perfectionist. So in addition to shaking the basket numerous times, as well as tossing the chips numerous times, my air fryer is hooked up to my EchoDOT and my Apple iPhone, both of which are set up to talk! Thanks again for the recipe!
Wow, I'm so glad you liked the recipe, and yes, I think an air fryer would be a great way to make tostada shells. I love tostadas, too, and they are one of my quick and easy go-to meals! I bought my air fryer at the thrift store, new in box, many years ago. It is a Chef Man and is basic but works fine. Yours sounds so much smarter, literally. Thank you for watching, and I wish you happy cooking!
That crunch bro😲 waking up the neighbors. And that salsa looks amazing. All that’s missing is the load Mexican music, Ice cold beer and the fajitas on the grill. Mi casa su casa whenever you’re down in south Texas. Much love and thanks for showing us how to make chips the easy way🤟🏻
Thanks, brother! Much love to you and the great state of Texas!!
I HATE corn tortillas but I LOVE tortilla chips. I did not know tortilla chips were made from corn tortillas. This excites me because I can make use of loads of corn tortillas. I just bought an air fryer so I’m good to go! Thank you for info.
Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy them. Cheers!
Love it!
Thanks for watching!
Definitely gotta try this!
I gotta admit about 2/3 of the way in I was wondering if this was worth the effort. Until I tried my first divinely crispy cornalicious chip. Mmmmmm 😋 Thanks bro!
Awesome! So glad you liked it
Haha! I knew you were going to say that! (Let the chips fall where they may.)
Just tried this recipe and it is really good, I accidentally burnt them though, taco seasoning taste really good with the chips
Glad it was (mostly) a success. Don’t sweat the “extra crispy” ones, lol. I’ve done that plenty of times myself. 😀
yay!!! Keep the videos going!
Thanks, Rebecca! I will 😀
Hi, What tortilla brand did you use,
Mission, if memory serves. But I’ve had good luck with other brands, too.
Make them healthy with olive coconut oil or avocado oil
Sounds tasty. I’ll try an avocado oil next time!
I'm not sure the tongs are necessary, just a snap of the wrist should jumble things up enough. This is a fun activity for the kids and it gets them off the phone/pad/etc..
Yes, it’s fantastic to get kids involved in cooking. Watching and helping my mom is what got me started on the culinary path.
Why don't you put oil on the tortillas first with a brush, season, and then cut the tortillas? Have you already tried? They look delicious 😋
Thanks! I think either way would work. Oiling after cutting is a bit less messy for me - and I need all the help in that area I can take, lol.
Dear lord you only convinced me to buy a bag of good chips!
Lol, well sometimes convenience wins. When I do store bought I get fresh-made in deli section (common in Southern California) or a good brand like Have’a. Tnx for watching!
The problem (for us) is finding _unsalted_ chips. Store bought chips are loaded with sodium/salt... many brands have over 150 mg of sodium per ounce of chips. We just bought an air fryer to make our own.
@@arrowdog8852 Right on! And that's the beauty of homemade -- you control the ingredients, including salt. I hope you enjoy :)
Bahahaha omg me too …. This is the worst chips on the internet lol

@@IWantToCook Thanks for listening!
Thank you for sharing!!! New sub!!! I just made a batch they are so good!!!
Wonderful! Glad you enjoyed and welcome to the channel 😀🙏
im sorry idk why but I can't help to laugh when you try to say salsa. lol
I’m even worse at *dancing* the salsa, lol.
No no no, fry up a little oil in a pan and add a little onion to flavor the oil. Then coat each tortilla with a basting brush both sides with oil BEFORE you cut them and then cut them and stick them in the air fryer. 20 minutes seems kinda long!
I don’t understand, I have a Ninja air fryer but the oven is so much better for tortilla chips. Your oven at 320 for 10 minutes, can make 2 cookie sheets full.
Interesting. I say whatever gets the best results is the way to go. Thanks for watching and happy cooking!
@@IWantToCook agreed!
🤤🤤🤤
16 minutes ?
That’s what was best for my particular unit; check often when cooking with yours for the results you like. All air fryers are a bit different. Cheers!
@@IWantToCook Like most people, I use UA-cam for a quick reference. I found 16 minutes unnecessarily long for the humble mushroom.
Put your salt in a coffee grinder and make it into a sort of powder
Great idea!!
Good content but you take too long I don’t have that time
I have to concur after watching these first videos. Definitely a learning process. I’ve since strived to tighten things up.
Tongs? Use your fingers.
That will certainly build character! 😀
They’re too sick when you do it like this
Saalssa not sulza
Too much talking
you talk to much
nope. oil fryer is better for chips.
Yeah… sure… but not everybody has an oil fryer, nor does everybody want to deal with oil. Cheers!
If you like them sweet - try Sugar Cinnamon !
Great idea!
