It was my very first new car. About $16,500 if I remember. Their add said "any color you want... As long as it's white" Only options were automatic or manual transmission. 2.2 turbo put out about 146 hp, yes only 500, only in California. Pissed me off the following year Shelby put one out with an intercooler putting out around 175 hp also I think limited edition. Very dependable, we put almost 150,000 mi. In 14 yrs when my son totaled it. 😢. Loved it.
The specs seemed to indicate that it was a liftback. I thought that too from the rear pic. There were quite a few liftbacks in the eighties, looking like sedans with a trunk but in fact having a hatchback.
I look good. (Of course, I already do lol) As a rebadged Mitsubishi, it probably had more in common with Proton than it seems. Interesting though. Come to think of it, a late 80's Proton brochure would be something different.
I'm in California and you rarely see Dodge Lancers anymore , I've never seen a Pacifica edition, now Pacifica is a Chrysler minivan. The Dodge Lancer was not a rebadged Mitsubishi, it shared its bodyshape with the 1986 Chrysler LeBaron GTS. Typical of its day, badge engineered.

Appreciate you sharing your experience with a car I know very little about - all the best

The Dodge Lancer was a sportier version of the venerable K cars Aries/Reliant . 😊

Nice clarification
It looks like a nice model. It seems well-equipped, and the interior looks like it was made in the mid-80s. I wonder how many of these are left.
Must be very rare today
I'm sure one of the bad guys in Short Circuit 2 drove one of these in white, too.
Aw that will have to watch that again!
@quarterlight
It's actually a Dodge Lancer turbo but it looks to be the same as this.
Thank you for featuring this vehicle!
Never heard of this particular model before. Very Chrysler at this point of time.
The Dodge Lancer and Chrysler LeBaron GTS were two of a long line of attempts to sell a more luxurious/sporty compact car model.
Don’t give us too few episodes! I do miss a stroll thru a 1980’s brochure with you!
Just a temporary reduction will get back to things in the New Year
This car is about as 1986 as you can get.
