When I heard that there was a Lego movie coming out I thought it was the dumbest idea ever and only tiny children would remotely find it interesting. I don’t know if I’ve ever been more wrong about a movie, everything about this movie is awesome.👍🤣
Same! I thought it was going to be like one of those stupid animated barbie movies! For a movie that's just suppose to be a advertisement they really put so much effort into and made something so creative, fun and very hearthwarming.
I took my kids to see it and didn't even have low expectations. I had ZERO expectations. I came away having laughed more than my kids. A total surprise and a great movie to boot.
That line where Morgan freeman says “I’m not gonna remember any of it” was him legit telling the crew he was not gonna remember all his lines so he needed it written down and I guess they found it so funny they just kept it in as an actual line 🤣
The numbers surrounding the pieces in Builder-Vision are the ACTUAL ID numbers for each piece! And 10/10 to the animators using Legos for all the particle effects!
And all the movies ‘guest stars’ are actual characters from Lego kits. I remember when they released the millennium falcon kit. People lost their minds. Lol.
Well, if you enjoyed "the LEGO movie", you will love "the LEGO BATMAN movie"..... Has so many cameos it could easily could ended up being obnoxious, but turned out to be genius....
"Are you ready for this?! They were READY for that!" What gets me is the transformations that take place during the story, like when Bad Cop's flying transportation rebuilds midflight, according to the new needs of the moment. It reminds me of what goes on in a child's imagination. One week or so ago, someone on Twitter asked about memories of getting lost in imagination during childhood, and I called up these 'stick' drawings of horse communities, complete with battles and heroics and multiple layers of narrative. I recall the story playing out as I drew the scene, but I recall it was NOT static. A child's storytelling is not static, no matter what the medium used to tell it. While a child has to stop to break down and rebuild his Lego structures, in his/her imagination the story doesn't pause. A child's imagination never stops being fluid.
I love that about this movie as well! "Your training begins now... Your training begins later" This line specifically brought me back to playing cars with a childhood friend and the way we could change the story instantly and randomly as long as we keep it going. We would say something like, "and he takes him out with his sword... With his (looks for a sword type thing) with his chicken! BAWK" 🤣
This movie, like everything else about it, is awesome! It's packed full of celebrities, from Chris Pratt Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett Morgan Freeman Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Charlie Day, Nick Offerman, to Will Ferrell. It's one of the funniest animated movies ever made.
As a kid who grew up with Space Lego I can relate to the lonely abandonment that poor astronaut felt. Genius move to snap his chin strap, that happened to ALL my characters as it was so flimsy
This is how making a kids film for adults is done. I've watched this with my kids a few times as they've grown from tweens to adults and they have grown to love it even more than me.
this might be the funniest movie to me. I love oversimplified humor. "His face is so generic that it matches every other face in our database. Diabolical." 😂
Aww, I LOVE this movie! So cute! One day, my 7 year old nephew took a sip of his hot chocolate and said "drink overpriced coffee". My mom was so confused, I had to tell her this is where he got it from, LOL.
If you wanna know how much love and detail went into this movie, the spaceman character’s helmet has a tiny crack on it, below his mouth, because those particular LEGO helmets were infamous for always breaking in that exact way.
No matter how many times I've seen this movie, it will always make me cry at the end. I think it holds some great messages. Especially to parents who tend to be perfectionists and overthink.
I only just realized.... It's 8 1/2 years later, because the prophecy is made when the kid is born. Having a son will lead Will Ferrell to eventually embrace his inner creativity.
Dude that's crazy that I never even thought of that until now. And the reason it's 8 and a half isn't just for the joke for the audience, but probably stems from the trope of kids wanting to feel older so always keeping track of the half years too. That's awesome.
Watching it a second time knowing the context of the movie is so good, because you can see every little detail that shows that this is a kid playing with legos. It has so much heart, you can tell how much the writers drew from their own childhoods playing with legos
Bennie is the best figure in the entire movie. The 80's something space guy... I used to own a space set. It came with the same kind of astronauts. The same kind of astronauts that always ended up fading the paint on the chest and breaking the helmet at the exact same little bit on the chin.
We used to have Lego Harry Potter, Lego Batman, and Lego Jurassic park wii games, my kids played them all the time they loved them, this movie was right up their ally
I am the LEGO freak in the family, though my 11 year old daughter loves them too. The LEGO movies are high on our list of favorite movies of all time. LEGO Movie, LEGO Movie 2, LEGO Batman, and LEGO Ninjago. We even went to LEGOLAND, CA for vacation. And let me tell you, EVERYTHING WAS AWESOME!
Lego Batman movie was absolutely hilarious as well. When Batman arrives to the Bat Cave he says a secret password that had me shooting Diet Coke out my nostrils. These movies may seem generic and simple but they are actually pretty clever.
ALSO! Since you guys love the crossovers of the words, when president business says on TV that if they don’t follow the instructions they will be “put to sleep”, this is referencing how if Finn doesn’t follow the “do not touch” signs then he will be put to bed by his dad.
"Instructions on 'how to fit in, have everybody like you and always be happy'!" "Oh no, he's a loser." THAT WAS MY REACTION TOO THE FIRST TIME I WATCHED IT xDDDD. But for real, I also first went into the movie expecting it to be surface-level comedy and lego marketing but I was genuinely surprised by the depth and wholesome core message it had, just like you guys. I put off watching it for the longest time until my friend convinced me to and it ended up being one of the funniest things I'd watched in a while. The artist in me was super impressed by the visual effects and if you're interested, a channel called Corridor Crew has a series called 'VFX Artists React' where they break stuff down and sometimes have guest speakers from the movie industry talk about BTS stuff and they did an episode featuring The Lego movie. Highly recommend that channel and series if you're into that :D
Hardly anyone notices that Wyldstyle runs through the barn building a wooden Bat Tumbler from The Dark Knight. (We do not know her bf is Batman, but it makes such sense on repeat viewings.) The opening conflict is The Dad fighting himself. His Lord Business side defeated his Vetruvius side, permanently blinding him. (Until eight-and-a-half years later.) And it makes me very happy that you guys have lived lives that do not leave you running in terror at the words "Micro-management!"
If I'm having a lousy day, some lines just crack me up. Liam Neeson's Bad Cop going "darn darn darn darn-y darn!"is one of my never-fails. It's just so funny to think of that man who has become a action icon over the years saying that as a bad guy in a kid's movie. Just makes me crack a smile and giggle every time. Doing it now.
Loved your reaction, nothing makes me happier than people going into The Lego Movie cold and being blown away by how good it is. If you're anything like me, you'll keep rewatching it and every time you'll see new details. The animation alone is SO GOOD. You want the better news? You've also got The Lego Batman Movie and Lego Movie 2 to watch. Both are great. The Lego Batman Movie in particular is possibly my favourite comic book movie ever - and that's coming from a guy with the retro DC logo as his avatar!
If you want to see more of Will Ferrell doing mostly serious acting, try Stranger Than Fiction, it's a movie that I really wish more people would see, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Dustin Hoffman, and Emma Thompson are also great in it.
Man. Imagine your son telling you that you don't have to be the bad guy. I can't imagine any, good, Father hearing that and not die inside. Knowing that you are the villain in your own son's story.
So, when I saw this in theaters, there was actually a special pre-movie thing, where it talked about the making of the movie, and about the google earth tie-in game, where you could build with 3D legos anywhere in the world, and in the bottom right, it had a timer that said “1 hour and some-odd minutes until the mind-blowing twist”, and the timer was actually, to the second, spot on for when it was revealed that the whole movie was in a kids imagination.
This movie, The Lego Batman movie, and the first SpongeBob SquarePants movie are way too funny, and definitely some of my go-to’s when I’m feeling “420” friendly 😂
It has never ceased to amaze me, how a movie that many, when it was first announced, thought it was going to be nothing more than a 2 hour toy commercial, instead became an astounding testament to the power of imagination, and the importance of play...
i know you don’t take requests on youtube, but “Brothers” (2009) starring Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal would be an incredible treat. i don’t believe anyone has reacted to it on youtube yet.

I live in Canda and one of my Godchildren lives in Paris. And when she was about 3 and I went to visit her, one of my favorite memories is how we sat on the floor and I played a game with her and let her take the lead. We had a pirate ship, barbie, smurfs and other toys all coming together. And in her mind it made perfect sense. And when I saw that movie in theaters with another one of my Godchildren, about the middle of the movie I thought "This almost looks like a child's imagination".
There's alot of good messages in this movie. But my favorite one was the two types of lego builders, that I'm already very familiar with. "Follow the Instructions" and "Creative Imagination". There are very detailed, ornate, planned builds that take tons of time and hard work. There are also unique, spur of the moment, go with your gut, builds that are creative as hell. Neither is right or wrong, just enjoy legos however you want to.
When I heard that there was a Lego movie coming out I thought it was the dumbest idea ever and only tiny children would remotely find it interesting. I don’t know if I’ve ever been more wrong about a movie, everything about this movie is awesome.👍🤣

The best advertising campaign for Lego toys ever was this movie. They sold so much legos.
