Ok, so I'm completely late to the party but I've been following your videos for over a year now and you are the only reason my models look so damn good. Literally can't get enough of your painting style and finding myself buying these models purely to emulate your own brilliance. Fantastic, please do keep up the good work.
Your inclination to paint things strictly assembled-in-full is as impressive as it is mental. Trying to maneuver this giant thing to get to behind Archaon's shield/cape and stuff would drive me insane lol, clearly it's working though. Looks incredible.
I don't know how effective this is as a guide/tutorial but the miniature is absolutely ridiculous. This has to be GD level or beyond. Fully assembled, no handle.... Your lighting is also really good and definitely working in your favour. You win dude... you win.
1000x merci. Eric
I've been struggling with motivation to paint my Archaon because it's an intimidating model but Contrast and dry brushing seems like it goes a long way, I'll be trying this out!
What an amazing job! I was looking for inspiration for a colour scheme for my Seraphon Bastilodon, and I really like this! Going to apply the colours you used for the skin and the wings of the dragon to my big fat dinosaur. Thanks very much for the great vid!
Just primed it, but Archaon not yet attached to it until iam finished painting (which can take a while lol). Iam playing and painting for 2 years now, and I would say I improved a lot, but this model is really really intimidating to me just because it's so massive. And although I painted a Stormsurge, painting something "organic" instead of robomech suits is something else somehow. So just watching you and Duncan doing it to prepare me does the trick for now :D
It was great catching some of this on the live, will definitely be following this when my Archaon turns up! Such an amazing model and you did an amazing job 🙌
Looking forward to watching the whole video, it was great to watch you create it live. What contrast colours would you recommend for Tzeentch Flamers? I can’t find a Contrast painting guide anywhere.
Funny you should ask my plan tomorrow is to paint some up for a video this week! I’m leaning towards Briar Queen Chill, Stormfiend and Luxion Purple at the moment but I shall see soon!
I would like to follow you tutorial but i have speedpaints mainly instead of contrast, do you think i might get somethimg similar? I know Is a vague question Just wanted to know your opinion
I think you would probably get an approximation of Archaon here if you converted the paints to Speedpaint. The only thing you might struggle with is the highlighting and the shading parts like the Agrax Earthshade as that's all Citadel's new Shade paints and the Speed Paints haven't got an equivalent without some serious thinning down and that! Sure it's possible though!
Yesss even more warhipster chaotic goodness…with you using the newer contrast paints on the tzeentch and nurgle heads would you use them for the greater daemons now?
If you pause it for a few minutes and retry it should work! It's a two hour long video that UA-cam is probably still processing it may take a few more seconds! I've just checked it on Desktop and on Mobile and I got it working by pausing for a moment on mobile
@@Warhipster thanks mate, will give it a go. I thought it might be as much as the quality is only 480p for me, so probably youtube doing its shenanigans as you said!

There was absolutely no need to paint this with Archaon attached but you did it anyways. True mad lad
I couldn't agree more! It was a bit of a flex on my part xD
@@Warhipsterevery tutorial you do is a prime Arnold Schwarzenegger-ish flex Warhipster.

Started the hobby about 4 months ago, your tutorials never go wrong. Thank you for helping me get into the grim dark future

Josh this is amazing!
All hail the warhipster the everchosen of contrast paint!
That's awesome 😍
You sir, are an absolute genius 👍
I wish this model will appear in Total War
Your dulcet tone will lull me to sleep this evening.
Love your content! Also, (and I mean this as an upmost compliment) has anyone told you that you have the voice of Professor Snape? :)
I get this often. And I don't hear it myself! But then I wouldn't right?
Great work king.

Well, I know what model I buy next 😄
If you do check out my Firestorm Games link above ^^ xDDDDD
@@Warhipster I will 👌😄
May you have the tutoriel for the lord on karkadrak?
Have you ever considered painting the supreme lord of the undead Nagash
Do you dry your brush after cleaning it before smoothing out the shade on the wing membranes or do you leave it wet?

I’m not him, but I would use Dreadful Visage on a Keeper of Secrets.
Noob question, to get the metallic look on Archaon's armour you just shade the black with nuln oil?
Great
Thanks!
You sir are a God
If I'm a God then you are too and are part of the same great Pantheon!
EXALTED GRAND MARSHAL OF THE APOCALYPSE!
Request for varanguard!
I have a feeling Santa might bring me some Varanguard!
I swore I would never buy a Warhammer miniature and just stick to 40k. This video has convinced me to buy this. ugh just take my money...
Is a Primer Can Citadel? 😮😮
Can archaon(atleast his mighty steed) be used for wh40k?
How many hours in total did this take?
It took me exactly, 35 Hours, 19 minutes and 46 seconds. not including the drying time on the base because that would be cheating.
I've got no sound?
