Hi Varda Both are forms provided by the GDC in the application pack, the difference is :- - Learning outcome form is a document containing about 75 questions which needs to be answered appropriately referring to your bds syllabus / work experience. - Professional work reference form - needs to be completed by your previous employers / professor showing your experience. Unfortunately me and my wife did the paperwork together and our Cpd reflections are similar is that a non issue,we didn't realise that ,but one of my friends noticed it and askd simply but later even I thought will it be a problem?we both are so tensed now as it's nearly impossible to change the reflections of the entire Cpds as will take a lot of time .!Thank you ,and waiting for your kind reply

To be honest , I am not sure about the scope of this course. It will be better if you can contact the course provider directly . To sponsor a student in UK , any college / university have to be registered with UK visas and immigration. And all registered colleges are listed here www.gov.uk/government/publications/register-of-licensed-sponsors-students So kindly confirm this with the course provider if they will be able to sponsor you.

BDS syllabus book includes in detail the various subjects and topics that you cover throughout the BDS curriculum. You can get the bds syllabus from your college / dental council / students who studied bds from your university.

Hi Golam, Unfortunately the major problem with this route of registration is that getting a visa is very difficult ( As mentioned in the video). And it doesn't change even if you come to UK on any course. Because you will be on a student visa, so again to get a job will be very challenging. There are many courses , but these cannot help you in securing a job. You may consider to appear for ORE/ LDS exams in order to practice as a dentist in UK. Hi We advice registering as DCP only if you have a proper UK visa. This route is not of much use on student visa as you cannot work as self employed and most of the jobs of hygienist / therapist are self employed. There might be some employed positions but this is very rare. We suggest to students that if you are planning to come on student visa to uk : Utilize your time efficiently , aim to pass ORE / LDS. As its easier to find sponsor once you register as a dentist.

My suggestion for you is not to rely on working as a hygienist if you are planning to come on student visa, as finding jobs would be challenging. I would say pursue masters only if you are keen to pass ORE / LDS as getting a job as a dentist is easier , since any sponsor would be happy to provide you work visa.

As per information, now only overseas Dental care professionals can apply for the specific dental care professional registration as per their qualification. GDC has stopped accepting overseas dentist applications for DCP roles.

Hello mam, the page number written is from the syllabus book or the book of the particular subject that it is found. Eg: DH-1.8.2 is found in dental material book that I studied in college. Should I write the page number from that book?
The assessment team will only refer to your bds syllabus book which you will submit along with your application. No need to open your subject textbooks. Please refer to the page numbers from the BDS syllabus book only.

Hi Naziba Don't need to worry about this. Your cpd cert will be accepted. As you will get GDC number only after registration. Till then you can put either not applicable / 0000 / 1111 / trainee under then GDC number. Remember to update this when you receive your GDC number

Hi Vaishav Appreciate your valuable feedback 🙂 Regarding your query : If within the 2 year time frame you are not able to find a sponsor for work then sadly you need to return back to your home country. And finding sponsor is a challenge ! Being a student you might struggle to find jobs, as it is very important to have an appropriate visa to start working.
Hi doc Does the letter of recommendation and cover letter to be submitted has to be of recent date. I have collected all these a year before from college ,so will that be valid if I start my application process this month ?
As such in the guidance notes there is no time frame for the above mentioned documents. But 1 year old seems to be too long. Its best to have recent documents. However, if it is difficult for you , kindly email the GDC assessment team and ask your query. Make sure the Good standing cert should not be older than 3months in any case.

You need to show English language evidence proof. IELTS is a straight forward way. Mind you It is only valid for 2yrs, so plan accordingly. ORE is not an exemption for ielts. No course or masters can help you work as a therapist, sadly. To work as a therapist , you need to have a proper visa. As most of these roles as self employed, hardly you can find any employed roles. So unfortunately any masters would not be useful for working as a DCP

In response to your 2nd query : Yes you may get job as DH , even if you register as DT because a DT does everything that a DH would do.
You can start the process but cannot submit unless you have all your documents ready. This route is now open only for overseas dental care professionals, not for overseas dentist

Sadly getting a work visa for hygienist is very difficult. You can try searching for employed hygienist positions on various job search websites. But most of the times these roles as self employed.
English language evidence is mandatory , and IELTS is a straight forward way to prove it. I am not sure if NARIC would be acceptable. Please contact the gdc assessment team via email to confirm this.

It would be best to provide your actually syllabus, but if for any reason you are unable to find it, then you can submit the available one but make sure to explain in the letter that it was the same syllabus / mention if there were any changes. To work as a hygienist / therapist , you need to register with the GDC. There are students who register with gdc , and enroll in a masters course to migrate to UK. But mind you , its very difficult to find such jobs on student visa. So this route is reliable only for people who are residing in UK and have an appropriate visa.
Hi Anu There are many recruitment agencies which will help you find a job once you get registered with the GDC. We suggest that you google search the recruitment agencies in your county and sign up with them. It is not always necessary to go through agencies, sometimes you may be able to secure a job directly as well. So keep all your documents ready and keep looking for vacancies. Good luck 🙂

Hi Glad you found the video helpful. If the visa says that , it means you cannot work as a dentist in training (PVLE or as specialist training under NHS) , so after you pass ORE / LDS you can find sponsors who would provide you a work visa.

There are various universities which provide MSc, the fees varies depending upon the university / clinical or non clinical subject etc. Sorry , we are not sure about the prospects after doing MSc. Kindly go through the job search websites and look for requirements they are asking for tutors or lecturers in universities. This will give you an idea. Generally to teach as a professor you will need to have a PHD but for being a clinical tutor or lecturer you may require MFDS/ MJDF/ MSc with experience in teaching.
If you have a recent qualification - taught in English, then this might be enough to show English language proficiency. Or else IELTS is the most straight forward acceptable way to prove it.

Unfortunately the major problem with this route of registration is that getting a visa is very difficult ( As mentioned in the video).
And it doesn't change even if you come to UK on any course. Because you will be on a student visa, so again to get a job will be very challenging.
There are many courses , but these cannot help you in securing a job.
You may consider to appear for ORE/ LDS exams in order to practice as a dentist in UK.

We advice registering as DCP only if you have a proper UK visa.
This route is not of much use on student visa as you cannot work as self employed and most of the jobs of hygienist / therapist are self employed.
There might be some employed positions but this is very rare.
We suggest to students that if you are planning to come on student visa to uk : Utilize your time efficiently , aim to pass ORE / LDS. As its easier to find sponsor once you register as a dentist.

Yeah that's a problem for most candidates.
My suggestion for you is not to rely on working as a hygienist if you are planning to come on student visa, as finding jobs would be challenging.
I would say pursue masters only if you are keen to pass ORE / LDS as getting a job as a dentist is easier , since any sponsor would be happy to provide you work visa.

Hello mam, the page number written is from the syllabus book or the book of the particular subject that it is found. Eg: DH-1.8.2 is found in dental material book that I studied in college. Should I write the page number from that book?
The assessment team will only refer to your bds syllabus book which you will submit along with your application. No need to open your subject textbooks. Please refer to the page numbers from the BDS syllabus book only.

Don't need to worry about this. Your cpd cert will be accepted. As you will get GDC number only after registration. Till then you can put either not applicable / 0000 / 1111 / trainee under then GDC number.

If within the 2 year time frame you are not able to find a sponsor for work then sadly you need to return back to your home country.
And finding sponsor is a challenge !

Does the letter of recommendation and cover letter to be submitted has to be of recent date. I have collected all these a year before from college ,so will that be valid if I start my application process this month ?
As such in the guidance notes there is no time frame for the above mentioned documents. But 1 year old seems to be too long.
Its best to have recent documents. However, if it is difficult for you , kindly email the GDC assessment team and ask your query.
Make sure the Good standing cert should not be older than 3months in any case.

Yes , sadly it is difficult to get a work visa for such roles. This route is good only for candidates who already have a UK visa.

To work as a therapist , you need to have a proper visa. As most of these roles as self employed, hardly you can find any employed roles.

It would be best to provide your actually syllabus, but if for any reason you are unable to find it, then you can submit the available one but make sure to explain in the letter that it was the same syllabus / mention if there were any changes. The letter should be attested by your college dean or principal.

To work as a hygienist / therapist , you need to register with the GDC.
There are students who register with gdc , and enroll in a masters course to migrate to UK. But mind you , its very difficult to find such jobs on student visa. So this route is reliable only for people who are residing in UK and have an appropriate visa.

We suggest that you google search the recruitment agencies in your county and sign up with them.

There are various universities which provide MSc, the fees varies depending upon the university / clinical or non clinical subject etc.
Sorry , we are not sure about the prospects after doing MSc. Kindly go through the job search websites and look for requirements they are asking for tutors or lecturers in universities. This will give you an idea.
Generally to teach as a professor you will need to have a PHD but for being a clinical tutor or lecturer you may require MFDS/ MJDF/ MSc with experience in teaching.
It is told primary dental qualification taught and examined in English is enough...so is Ielts mandatory madam?
If you have a recent qualification - taught in English, then this might be enough to show English language proficiency. Or else IELTS is the most straight forward acceptable way to prove it.

Regarding the interview process :
It depends on the practice.
If it is a corporate chain of clinics , then you will have a formal interview with scenario based questions.
For other practices , you may be invited for a chat wherein the practice manager or principal dentist would assess your communication skills and confidence.

Would like to ask concerning verifiable cpd. On registration with for example dentistry club where it says GDC number Should I put my country's since I don't have GDC number yet or should I just leave it blank
Sorry for late reply. You could choose any trainee post / put random number like 000 or 1111 and change it once you get the GDC number after registration
