Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am a beginner in SolidWorks and your video have made it really easy to understand how to create helical gear from scratch.
May I know, how would you design a double helical or herringbone gear from this design? Do you simply mirror the gear above onto one of its side surfaces or change the curve path (12:58) and loafted cut (16:53)? Or is there a better way? Thank you.😊 P.S what is the 'Addendum length' used for? (4:47)
Double helical gear have required some space so extrude boss diameter & then mirror gear about select solid boss side face & herringbone gear direct mirror select gear side face for mirror plane
Good day, from other references and tutorials I noticed that some have used different formula for calculating the outside/tip diameter of a gear. For example, "OD = Pitch Diameter + (2 * Module)" or "OD = (No. of teeth + 2) * Module" Is there more than one way to calculate them? and is it the same case for root diameter as well?🤔 Thank you.😊
on Helical Gears Outside dia = Pitch dia +(2*Addendum),where addendum = module , and PCD = Num * ( module * Secant(pressure angle))

I think I found a jackpot
Pitch dia = N*(MOD*SEC(PA))

@@smartcursor I see. Thank you.😊

You can use Both formulas, both are correct because answer value are the same in both formulas.
