ESKIMO QUICKFISH 3 - ICE FISHING HUT Review and HOW TO Update

  • I made a view a week or two ago about the same ice hut without much detail, so this is a review in detail and how to of the Eskimo QuickFish 3 Ice hut. For $159 its a pretty good buy. In my opinion the Eskimo QuickFish 3i is not worth it unless you live in -10 to -20 degree weather. I am fishing in 0-32 degree weather here so its keeping me warm and toasty. Thanks for watching and make sure to SUBSCRIBE!!!

*Great lightweight shelter. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s love how it blocks the light from outside. It was a pain to open the first time but now that it is broke in goes up easy..*

We have the 3i insulated hut. Today it was -25 with the windchill. Advice> be sure to pile snow around the other skirting. Block out as much breeze as possible. That being said, we were quite comfortable with our buddy heater. More advice> pack away as much as possible before tearing it down. Then you can just scoot back to your vehicle before frostbite gets ya!

Non insulated tend to sweat and drip inside. This unit is 26#. The insulated is 34#. Insulated is $75 or so more money. I sold my regular and bought the insulated. I like it better. You can always adjust the heat inside. Both are good quality products!

    ALWAYS take the insulated!
You stay warm & you do not have the material sweating & raining on you when using a heater.
But I am sure that every person who has owned them both will agree.

Easy to follow tutorial; I'm going to practice setting mine up in the garage a few times prior to heading to the ice.
    Thank You

Thanks for set up tips and advice on what side to pop up first. luv my pop up. I noticed comments about difficulty getting it back in the bag (especially when out on the ice in the wind/snow/dark. I now do not use the bag during breakdown for a couple of reasons. 1- tent needs to be taken out of bag again to dry when I get back home anyway. 2- I can cut my time/effort in half by quickly folding the tent up, putting a tie around it (so the wind does not catch and open it) and tossing it in my sled. 3- backpack straps make carrying it easy but dragging a second small sled or a slightly larger single sled is even easier in my experience. My second sled is the same size as my first so they fit inside each other when I'm loading my small car and storing it away in the garage.

First thing... put an anchor in the ice THEN take it out of the bag and tie it down on the windward side. Ok, NOW put it up.. Otherwise, you might be chasing it as it blows away.

Thanks for the step by step. This is the exact hut I’m looking into, price is right and good size for two people . NM ice lakes almost never get to those frigid temperatures so this will do just right.

this shelter is a nice one man hub or 2 person hump tent. three people fit in the backyard using it as a playhouse for the kids . not worth more than $150. Get one on sale. I use mine primarily as gear storage and an outhouse while I actually fish out of a mobile flipflop. They also work good to stick the wife or kids while out with the flipflop. Eskimo is in the process of making sled feet so you can turtle it around easier after you empty your bowels one too many times or have yellow pool effect happening .The best made price point throwaway tent hands down. I have sold them for half price to other guys right on the ice because I don't feel like taking them down sometimes. This is for the non-insulated version one I might add. getting one with a blanket is a waste.;the extra cost and weight could go towards other things that actually contribute to catching fish or cooking them.

OK, but now, the Quickfish 3 is $200 and the 3i is $250. You say the 3i isn't worth it -- but the 3i will require significantly less propane (which is not cheap) to heat because of the superior insulation. Yes, you spend $50 more up front, but I think the savings in propane over the lifespan of the tent would be way more than $50. I know some people say that with the insulated tents, they don't even need a heater unless it's really cold out. If you got the 3i, you might be able to forego the heater altogether, thus saving space, hassle and quite a bit of money. The insulated version is also much quieter in the wind. Not a bad deal for an extra $50.
(Full disclosure: I'm in southern Maine -- kind of cold but nowhere near -10 to -20 degrees out, our average low this month is about 19F, so if anyone's reading this thinking they can skip the heater with a 3i, just keep that in mind. I'm not exactly in the tundra.)

I bought the 2i to use as an outdoor cigar tent in the winter. Wind and cold certainly ruin a good time with a cigar. I am planning to try it out this weekend before the snow rolls in using a 1500 watt electric heater inside on the back patio. If I can get this thing warm enough inside to be able to remove the coat I will be thrilled. It's supposed to be in the upper 20's low 30's tomorrow.
