How To Make A Po'Boy with Isaac Toups
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 вер 2019
- Chef Isaac Toups is back, this time showing us how to make a classic fried seafood po' boy. The shrimp and oysters are tossed in a mixture of cornmeal and corn flour for a crispy and light batter, and the whole sandwich is dressed in a simple tomato and onion salad. The result is the ultimate Louisiana sandwich.

I think he snorts Cajun seasoning just to get his day started
Who doesn't?._.
No doubts here
Do you not?
Beatriz Espinoza everyone from New Orleans does

Me too Isaac, me too.
Ah, i see you're a man of culture as well
Oh yeah how thick
As do I. 😈

This guy is charismatic and entertaining. I'd love to see more of him.
Agreed, sadly theres a lot of people playing in the major league, and that will make it difficult for this fella... Matheson, Brad Leone, Frank Pinello, Babish, Delaney, etc
Might I recommend Top Chef Season 13. Just a whole season of Toups being Toups.
What have I become my sweetest friend? You like this guy check out cooking with babbish
@@jameslyddall especially the episode about Cajun food, since Isaac is on there too.
Babish sucks
I met issac and had drinks with him a few times and hes truly a character on and off cam, esp when he gets a few shots in him. Hes a hell of a drinking partner. Ima chef myself and he loves showing fellow chefs a great time in new orleans!!
69 likes lol
Did you get to meet Amanda? Hes a trip but them two together are a show lol!
*isaac!!!!!
You all do not realize how impressive him making that mayonnaise so fast is.
Not impressed. My friends are experts - they're white.
It makes sense though
if you're using professional kitchen grade food processor, those thing have like 4 horsepower engines. They fucking rip

Everyone: “you said oysters wrong”
South Louisiana locals: “Ersters? Sounds right to me!”
Fried ersters ya'erd me?
I like how aggressively gives you advice.
You can use your fingers as long as your hands are clean. AS LONG AS YOUR HANDS ARE CLEAN
"They're too big. They bounced off my mouth 👀" 😂🤣
Hold up..
Then just owns it, because fuck it.
“You can use your hands, AS LONG AS YOUR HANDS ARE CLEAN” essential information for today’s time
"Nobody seems to like my corona sandwich. What could be wrong?"
I mentally added a 'Steve' after he said that, i.e. "As long as your hands are clean, STEVE!"
Nah, I'm pretty sure washing my hands is a communist plot to turn me trans
@@DeadBoneJones did it work
If you're cooking, your hands should be clean... filthy yanks..
I love Isaac’s personality and his “do whatever makes you happy” mindset
This guy looks like the rolling heads off of Spirited Away
He does.
I knew he looked like something but i wasnt sure, thats a perfect description lmao
*Eyes slowly widening as this realization sinks in*
Stop, you have violated the law
why would u say something so controversial yet so brave
This guy is just straight up good vibes
I've followed your chicken gumbo recipe 4 or 5 times and it has become a family favorite. This will be the next thing I try. Looks delicious! Thank you Chef! You are entertaining and a great teacher also. Can't wait!
Ahh give this man his own regular show. He’s so entertaining and his food looks on point
"you'll get burn marks on yourself, and then you'll look like a professional cook or something" this statement is so ironic and oddly true
Honestly! I have burn marks all on my hands and wrists lol
he prenounces mayonaise correctly! my contentness is immeasurable and my day has been made
First time seeing this guy!👀 Idk where you got'm but PLEASE keep'm!! He's good!! His delivery, his jokes, his cuisine ON POINT!!
Fun fact, being bald and bearded gives you a +2/+2 to all cooking skills!
also helps with methcooking
@babish
Don’t forget full sleeve tattoos on both arms
All the hair stats just went to skills
So that's why Binging with Babish is awesome
I’m from New Orleans and it makes me so happy when u have a dude like this repping ur city with his meals
I remember when I first saw Isaac on an Action Bronson episode of Fuck That's Delicious where Action Bronson ate at his restaurant and I remember thinking, Isaac is a STAR. He's so badass and authentic and real and he's everything I love about the food world. It's so amazing to finally see Isaac getting these amazing features. He truly deserves all the spotlight!!
Same!!!!!! Im so happy im seeing starting to make the rounds
Honestly one of my favorite Munchies guests hands down.
Finally more of Chef Toups, we want more of him.
This guy is the Babish of the south
Have you seen their Collab? It was amazing
@Marvellous Chester you're right. It is
Nah this dude is actually a skilled chef.
He's literally not. These videos are largely improvised. Andrew Rea's videos use, at the very least, multiple voice takes. They're carefully planned out. If you've seen the Toups + Rea video on Binging with Babish, you'll see that Rea is actually not all that good at improvising, and actually not all that comfortable with Toups' potentially un-pc jokes. Very different video styles, very different people.
@Fingering Things Bayou with Babish?
The oysters look like popplers from Futurama.
Surely its should be 'the popplers from Futurama look like these oysters'? :)
This guy cracks me up. Love his style and personality.
Best chef that's not on tv and damn entertaining to watch reminds me of my cooking days
Anytime with this Chef, I learn more & more in Interesting ways! If Chef T ever had a class, I would take it on a heartbeat
Omg this looks delicious ! I love po boys and have been craving one for 2 years ! I'm in the spirit now and motivated to make it myself now ! And he his hilarious ! He has that new Orleans accent !
When you cut the bread rolls, pull some of the fluffy white part out, and you can fit more good stuff in.
1:29 Canola "Earl" (oil). First time I heard someone from LA say baby oil, I'm like who is baby Earl?
Oiyal
In Mississippi we call it "ole" lol
I had a family friend tell me he had to check his earl while we were driving I was concerned
My tt ALL DAY💀💀💀😭
He was just exgherating the word. Lived in Louisiana all my life and only black people say Earl. It's not a people from Louisiana thing
I met chef issac 1 month ago in New Orleans, he is a real humble, cool guy drove from Austin to his restaurant, man let me tell you it was so delicious 🤤 I swear!!!!
Absolutely amazing video, as always! One of my favorite chefs for sure.
I'm glad hes back!! Dude frickin awesome!
Toups seems like a good dude and is genuinely entertaining. Please bring him back for more Cajun dishes.
He and matty are by far my favorite two cooks

I love Issac! He needs his own cooking show on the Food Network! So charismatic! So much energy and personality! Totally down to earth southern boy nature right there. Awesome dude

Finally someone who knows how to make a proper po boy I always see ppl try to make it and mess it up
Enjoyed this.
"They're too big they bounced off my mouth"
I thought the moment of realization was for something else.
Watched this video a couple days ago, and revisited it just now to make my first completely successful Mayo. Thanks for the pro tip! Instead of vinegar, I did lemon juice. All the other measurements are the same (4 egg yolks is great), much to the chagrin of natural instinct to just throw shit in till it feels right. If you want to make perfect mayo for the first time, watch this; do this.
I know it’s aioli. Being colloquial.
OMGosh! I'm SOOO hungry! Cool dude. Cool video. I think even I can remember the steps and the information about breading and cooking the shrimp is exactly what I need. Awesome! Thanks! 👍
Looks delicious!
I've never related more to someone then when he said "I'm a mayonnaise spoon licker"

So happy to see this guy cooking again !
That tomato and red onion salad is so great and works with so much, I do it all the time!
I live in Texas, and every cajun restaurant I go to here looks at me kinda weird because I ALWAYS ask for a shrimp and oyster. I feel vindicated for my choices.
Not real Cajuns
5:36 “oil”!
Love it!
Truly entertaining!
I always juggle shrimp next to hot fry grease.
Love this guy. Authentic in a world of fake people

That’s the one thing I like about southern people they’re unapologetically authentic.
