Absolutely loved this aircraft, a truly awesome machine. Spent many happy hours at RAF Cottesmore when the TTTE was there. Now it’s been handed over to the Army and renamed Kendrew Barracks.

Looks beautiful and absolutely evil at the same time - not many fast jets look better in my opinion. Add the sound of those thunderous Rolls-Royce RB199's and you have one of my favourite machines built.

I was at RIAT that year & remember this pair well. It chucked it down in the morning but the weather ended up fine a few hours later. The highlight for me that day was watching the Vulcan

Such a beautiful plane. I remember this very well at the Bournemouth airshow when they weren't afraid to add oomph into the mix.

Marham was their last operational base. Quieter now they've gone. We do of course have the F35s now but it's very rare you hear them being as there's only 26 in operation. I miss the old RAF when I last lived in this area, my dad was on Victor Servicing Flight, tanker crew. Skies were alive back in the 90s. Tornadoes, Jags, Victor's, last vulcan just before we left. It might be the junior service but my go it's the best 👌

Sadly in Australia we don't get to see "swing wing" in action now they have retired "the Pigs" (F111's) - This is a really great video of Tornado's in action in multiple flying formats - look forward to seeing these next year when I hope to get to RIAT 2013 - well done once again

I still think the tornado looks cooler than a typhoon. The tornado just looks mean

I was at this show, just opposite the hanger with the BAE Systems banner on it, the weather all week was a mixed bag, Friday arrivals was awful but both show days were good, some mad cluds about.
The display was really well put together, lots of vapour and action in front of the crowd the entire time. Interesting to see the display from video, whenI was there I was taking photgraphs, so you miss bits of it.

why do air shows persist in playing loud music on tannoys annoucements yes
commentrey ok but music that has nothing in common with an air show it must
be a pain in the arse for the public using cameras anyone agree.....

Is it just me or does the Typhoon less aggressive than the Tornado? Maybe it’s because the Tornado had been so actively involved in a lot more campaigns.

Absolutely awesome, see this once at biggin hill on an extremely hot day, but I’m sure they had hawks and apache involved too? And maybe two f3’s too

Just out of curiosity, dunno if this magnificent jet, if theoretically givn in place with a pair of Eurojet 200 or the further 23,000 to the 27,000 lb enhanced thrust variant of the just mentioned powerplant coud improve the aircraft's load carrying capacity evn further from the current 9000 kilos to anything higher ?
Any experts in the know care to elaborate & enlighten us a little ?
    I thank U in advance.

If I were to hazard a guess. In terms of increased load carrying capability, I'd say no. Although, naturally, the performance would be increased. There's only so much room under the fuselage. So, to carry more ordinance, that would require a total structural redesign. However, if they had put them engines into the F3, then converted that into a GR version that could possibly have been interesting. As the F3 is already a slightly bigger platform. Added to the fact; the F3 was already even more aerodynamically sound compared to the GR version.

Yes the Tornado most certainly looks quite menacing in our skies today and still great to watch indeed. It will be a great shame to see them go soon. The Tornado could fly still for years to come now : )))))))

Awesome planes sadly taken out off service ,my childhood was full of harriers and tornados in the valleys ,,you hear the harriers coming but not The tornados until they where right on you ,so intimidating even if in show of force role ,just send in the big dogs and the enemy runs ,think they taught the world of aviation how to do business ft off the deck

A good friend of mine is a Typhoon pilot and is at pains to tell me how much better Typhoons are then Tornados. Technically he's not wrong, but Tonkas are just cool as f@#k!
