Hi Sean, I tie flies now and again i was wondering how you learn to tie flies as i have watched lots of videos and i just can't get it right,? You make it look so easy lol I have caught an odd salmon on my flies but i would like to tie a better fly..Any tips would be very helpful. Regards Richard
@@srg12 hi Richard, I was very lucky to learn from my uncle, it is hard to beat learning in person. What is it you are struggling with it is it techniques? Do you have any clubs near you were you could learn looking over a shoulder?
@ At times Seán I think it’s the proportions I can’t get right and I run out of space. Also keeping everything neat and tidy. I think I maybe neat to practice more and hopefully I will start tying better flies.
@srg12 be sure to give plenty of space before tying in the wing/hackle etc. You can always have excess hook showing...in fact many tie the head back from the eye for certain knots. The fish won't mind either way tho, so long as you get fit you tippet through the eye👍
Why do you need 2 hooks?? I never ever understood that??🤔 I've been fly-fishing for 55 yrs!! It reminds me of spin, baitcasting fisherman who have fishings lures anywhere from a single treble hook (3) to 3 treble hooks(9) 🤔??? WHY THAT MANY HOOKS SERIOUSLY????
That is a really nice fly. It's a great and awesome fly tying. I would tie a couple of these. 🎅👍👊
