also fyi - before diving into troubleshooting....make you do a "reset". That solved many issues I was having with my mmi (black screen, nothing responding to mmi, etc). Check your model, year on how to reset your MMI. I believe mine was hold the right error, push volume button in, setup for like 5 seconds). **2006 Audi A8)

@@peggysmith4258 you have to replace the whole thing. You can’t just replace the knob. You can order them online from a used Audi or find one at a Savage yard.

true fluid spill on the mmi or rain ,moisture.. Inside the mmi console you have the chipboard and that needs to be replace… I got the same problem true i left my window partly open and the rain has gotten down in to the chipboard of the mmi console.. You can buy cheap at china pages...the tutorial you can find here on UA-cam... Or you bluetooh module can also be the problem !
I have a 2010 with a multimedia player in the glove box that keeps running when the car is shut down. This is what I think is draining my battery since my mmi control unit crashed with the same start up screen going to black issue others are reporting. The multimedia player and the Bose amp are both warm in the morning. I shut the amp off by removing the fuse, but the DVD still cycles. Anyone else have a similar issue?

Did you check the other functions of the MMI controller? Parking brake, other media functions etc?
Try spraying with robin alcohol, then clean it a few times , that’s should fix it . Pop make these buttons sticky . Mine is fix this way
If any buttons are stuck this will happen first check that. If so pull out the button with a toothpick or something sharp.

I have a 2000 a4. My screen turns on and stays on. But none of the buttons work. I press but not response. Should i get a new radio unit?
My buttons work but the knob don’t work. It doesn’t turn it but when I press it in it works but it doesn’t turn my settings.

@@JAIMEC maybe a sugestion but it could be the bluetooth module onder the driver seat!… just place a bypass cable and it should be fixed.

Hell yeah, battery can drain in 30 minutes, I’m now going to see what a replacement mmi can do.
