With the aid of your super video, I was able to replace the plastic (fake metal) trim around the gear shift on my 2010 A6. Although you were addressing another situation, your pictures and audio clearly showed me how to replace that nasty trim piece. During a below-zero stretch of 3 days, the metallic-looking finish on the trim piece distorted and bubbled up. Looked very bad. Dealer said it would be about $1,000 to tear into the console, find that trim and replace it. "BS"!. I ordered the piece from Audi for $60 and with your video as a guide, installed it myself... took 30 minutes. Thanks, man. GREAT video.

Never know If I lost the part or if little hands made off with it. :) Great Job on your videos. Has helped me work on my sons A6 more then once. Thank you.
Thanks for this great, easy to understand, and complete video. I found that two “side pull” bicycle spokes with spoke nipples and washers or knobs work great for pulling the rear air vent. Saves a bit of money. It takes a surprising amount of force to pull the vent out. I spilled half a cup of coffee all over the MMI buttons - seemed okay for a bit, then everything flashed bright, the display turned off and the buttons stopped working. Following these instructions I managed to take things apart, then I washed the plastic and metal parts, and cleaned the circuit board with alcohol and Qtips. I used an anti static bag (from a PC motherboard) to keep the electronics safe. I put it all back together and everything worked fine! DIY... always better!

First of all, thank you for walking us through step-by-step. How easy is it to break the clips on the side trim panels? Also, if I need to replace the rear cigarette lighter, can I do so without lifting the entire console?

Hi, is the parking brake switch an actual electrical component or just a mechanical lever? I have a parking brake malfunction after a spill and the mechanic is advising replacing the parking brake module which rests in the boot which doesn't make sense so I want to start with this
It's an electric switch. It also has a light to see when it's active. I'm not professional, so I don't know where the actual parking brake controller is. If the switch is cheap to buy, i think it would be worth to try to replace the switch first and see if it helps.

Hello, Can you please make a video on how to change the center A/C console? My A6 buttons got all scratched up and I want to replace them. I want to know what to do before I go in and break anything! Thanks!
Hi Alex, do you mean Climatronic? Climate control buttons? At the moment I'm processing A/C compressor video.. I can make A/C console at some point this week..
Thanks! On 3 of my buttons, the rubber black coating came off, I would like to either replace the console, or find the stickers to put over the buttons.
Alex V Sorry Alex, it might take me a bit longer to make a video about Climatronic buttons, have to sort out few problems first... But I think, that in your case I would consider stickers or, I don't know, paint them, because if you replace the whole unit, not only it can be pricey itself + apparently you would have to re-program new one for your vehicle.. All that for buttons coating.. ;) Anyway, I'll do it as soon as I can, but I don't know when...
Nikolay Maximov, for some stupid reason UA-cam doesn't allow me to reply to your comment - I hope you will see this comment. You are actually not the first person to ask me about AC controls (Climatronic), I think, I should be able to do the video at some point next week.
@@wawayltd Thanks for your prompt reply - knowing this, I am hoping that you may have the technical manual to show me where it's located and your advice on how to get to it - I can't find where to download the technical manual for my car (2010 A6 C6 4F 3.0L TFSI).
I'm not sure if there is one.. In my experience if blower goes that would mean - new blower. However I might be wrong. In your owners manual book there's a list of fuses. Unfortunately I don't have that car for about 5 years, so I won't be great help with fuse location.
Hi man would u b able to tell me how to connect an amp and subwoofer to an audi a6 55plate??? Any ideas? Cause I havent got clue how to do it what cables etc.
Krzysztof Niewiadomski if it has MMI you will ned a sound processor such as an audison bit one to connect to the bose amp before you can then connect to other external amps etc to run other speakers.
I'll Just call you WAM for short...lol. Thanks so much for your video. Just purchased '05 A6 Quattro 3.2 and a '04 S4 Both in excellent condition. Subscribed and Thanks Again. Tod
please i have 1 question. im in that point when i want to replace the central console. after disconnecting the cables and plugging them in, do I have to record it again in my computer? and how ? thank you!
I don't have experience with replacing for different unit, so I don't know whether that will be "plug and play" or requires installation with computer, sorry. Handbrake button should be alright - it might give you fault light, but once you put it on and off, it should clear.
I don't have experience with putting new unit, I had to replace parking brake button, so decided to make such video. In my humble opinion (I may be wrong), unlike other MMI components, this console works like a keyboard and as long as you get another with same part number it should be "plug and play". But don't take my word for it, as I said I might be wrong - check on Internet.
You can always try cleaning it before you buy, but in my experience with these buttons, like this parking brake switch, like window regulator buttons - when they go bad they just need to be replaced. Also I don't think they are designed to be taken apart to try to fix them, at least that is definitely out of my league.

Sorry for my question in Polish langue, but my english is very bad ;)

Great job, i watched many of your videos. I have a question though. On my C6 suddenly the MMI stop working. The screen is black and the console MMI buttons have no lights. When i try turning on the radio by pressing the ON button the screen turns on saying AUDI MMI and quickly turns off. It was after a night of raining but everything was dry and I never had problems with rain before. What's your suggestion? Many thanks for all videos.
Please need help. I washed my car and water goes inside the MMI control. . Now election parking brake doesn't work and sat nav goes on and off what I should do . Thanks for you advice
Kazim Ahmed If that woulf happen to me, I would take it apart, clean it, dry it. If that doesn't help - find someone with VAG-COM to diagnose the problem.
WheelsAndMotors thank you I'll try it I hope it does work. But how I can dry it ?? Which spray shall I use it ?? And shall I open mmi as well or '....??
Hey man, I have a 2008 Audi A6 Quattro S line. My screen goes off 5 seconds after showing the welcome anytime I turn it on. Can you please tell me what might be the problem? I have change the screen, mmi control module, amp, multimedia interface but it still has that problem
If by MMI control module you mean these buttons that are shown in the video, then it might not help.. As far as I remember actual MMI unit that processes all is located somewhere behind glovebox. Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near to be professional to help you with that, also I don't have that car anymore :(

The problem with all this MMI sounds like a short noise .... Nicholai prepared the Audi receiver. Was it under the hitchhiker's seat? Thanks again for your help
I spilled coca-cola, had same problem - console, light inside mmi buttons - all used to shut off, cleaning helped me. I believe, cleaning should help you, unless you have some other problem.. Worth to try anyway.
Good afternoon! Can you help me? At me on audi a6 c6 4f the screen and all multimedia system has ceased to work, has checked up all safety locks, all whole. Power to all units is suitable, the battery is not discharged, the generator gives charging. What can be, where to look?

@@wawayltd Thanks for your prompt reply - knowing this, I am hoping that you may have the technical manual to show me where it's located and your advice on how to get to it - I can't find where to download the technical manual for my car (2010 A6 C6 4F 3.0L TFSI).
@@abeibrahim5846 I recommend you to have a look for Elsawin on eBay. Really good manuals for VAG. Worth to have if you're doing any DiY.
@@wawayltd Thanks, will do :-)
@@abeibrahim5846 Can I ask you, what's going on with your pressure monitoring system? Why are you looking for that unit?
thank you very much im planing to upgrade the panels to piano black so i had to watch how to thanks
You're welcome 👍
"Uhh just watch this video in a mirror idk"🤣🤣🤣
Well done ,can you tell me where to locate fuse for blower heater please ,
I'm not sure if there is one.. In my experience if blower goes that would mean - new blower.
However I might be wrong. In your owners manual book there's a list of fuses. Unfortunately I don't have that car for about 5 years, so I won't be great help with fuse location.
Thank you ,I no handbook
Quick question what if i wanna change my cockpit pannel wooden colour aswell where can i buy one? Please respond
I don't know. Have a look online, forums, groups, eBay...
Hi man would u b able to tell me how to connect an amp and subwoofer to an audi a6 55plate??? Any ideas? Cause I havent got clue how to do it what cables etc.
Sorry, Krzysztof, I have no clue, too :) Didn't have to deal with it yet :(
Krzysztof Niewiadomski if it has MMI you will ned a sound processor such as an audison bit one to connect to the bose amp before you can then connect to other external amps etc to run other speakers.
thanx anyway mate...
Hi, is there a difference when operating the automatic Transmission Version?
Hi. Probably not, but I'm not 100% sure.
I'll Just call you WAM for short...lol.

You're very welcome,
Best Regards,
WAM ;)
Thanks, it helped me a lot.
You're welcome! I'm glad if it still helps after all these years 👍
thank you for this video. the first time took me 1 and a half day and the second time 2 hours :)
Thanks :)
please i have 1 question. im in that point when i want to replace the central console. after disconnecting the cables and plugging them in, do I have to record it again in my computer? and how ? thank you!
and the handbreak aswell. thanks
I don't have experience with replacing for different unit, so I don't know whether that will be "plug and play" or requires installation with computer, sorry. Handbrake button should be alright - it might give you fault light, but once you put it on and off, it should clear.
If I want to change the mmi console, does it have to match the serial number with the one my car has? Please help
I have the same problem do I need to buy a parking button to replace it or can I just clean it?
You can always try cleaning it before you buy, but in my experience with these buttons, like this parking brake switch, like window regulator buttons - when they go bad they just need to be replaced. Also I don't think they are designed to be taken apart to try to fix them, at least that is definitely out of my league.
Sorry for my question in Polish langue, but my english is very bad ;)
Understend,thank you.
Give me contact number for the man
Great job, i watched many of your videos.
Sorry, Tomislav, can't help you with this one - looks like it needs to be seen by professional..
Isti problem
Please need help. I washed my car and water goes inside the MMI control. . Now election parking brake doesn't work and sat nav goes on and off what I should do . Thanks for you advice
Kazim Ahmed If that woulf happen to me, I would take it apart, clean it, dry it. If that doesn't help - find someone with VAG-COM to diagnose the problem.
WheelsAndMotors thank you I'll try it I hope it does work. But how I can dry it ?? Which spray shall I use it ?? And shall I open mmi as well or '....??
thnx to you I did it in 45 minutes. thnx a lot.
You're very welcome :)
Unfortunately, I'm nowhere near to be professional to help you with that, also I don't have that car anymore :(
AWESOME VIDEO 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Thanks Dario 👍
I have same audi, but wheel is from left side :) bur everything is tottaly same :)
Thank you so much for this video! It was very thorough and informative! You guys are awesome :) however, your little assistant seems a bit under qualified!
You're most welcome Karan :) It's pleasure to know that I could help..
My assistant can be a bit of a trouble, but I believe - one day he will teach me :)
Nicholai Shalom,
I have a Audi TDI 2007 I have a problem on the radio when I turn on the radio it turns off after 2-3 seconds and turns on again
What 's the problem? How do I get to the radio?
Thank you in advance for your help
Yoram
Is it just radio that's turning off or the whole MMI?
The problem with all this MMI sounds like a short noise .... Nicholai prepared the Audi receiver. Was it under the hitchhiker's seat? Thanks again for your help
Brilliant video thanks
You're welcome 😊
I spilled coffee on my mmi, my console screen just randomly shuts off after that, if I go in a clean it do you think that will make a difference?
I spilled coca-cola, had same problem - console, light inside mmi buttons - all used to shut off, cleaning helped me. I believe, cleaning should help you, unless you have some other problem.. Worth to try anyway.
Good afternoon! Can you help me? At me on audi a6 c6 4f the screen and all multimedia system has ceased to work, has checked up all safety locks, all whole. Power to all units is suitable, the battery is not discharged, the generator gives charging. What can be, where to look?
