    As a certified lumber grader Ash is the poor mans Oak. Its cheap and there is a mass amount on the market for sale. I have cut millions of board Ft Ash and it is more of a soft textured wood to me like Birch or Cherry. So there is White Ash, Black Ash and whats called Green Ash which is a mix of both. Ash does not compare to Hard Maple as far as density. Ash is an appearance wood its very appealing to look at hence forth the top on this guitar looks to be White Ash, Black Ash or Swamp Ash is even softer than white. Thats my Ash report. Great video Hunter!!

    • @agufish
      @agufish  4 роки тому +1

      Great insight! And that softness is probably why they use it. Might be easier to sand down and expose the grain and get colored filler in there on ash than in oak

    I think that was one of your best songs at the top of the video. Either you just super nailed it on the tone, or it's an example of how spending a bit more on a guitar can improve the sound significantly. Before I get flamed, yes, I understand that there is a limit in that regards... a $5k Gibson doesn't sound 10x better than a $500 Epiphone.

    Also, I really wish more manufacturers would use the Gotoh Floyd Rose. I hate Floyd Roses but it seems like manufacturers aren't going ot back down and they're still making a bunch of models that only come with a Floyd Rose. So if they're going to insist on using Floyd Roses, at least make it a Gotoh. They're so much more comfortable to use than an Original Floyd Rose.

    I am constantly amused by all obsession with neck thickness and how the neck fits to the pocket. For 2 reasons . Unless you have small hands or short fingers then it primarily irrelevant to how fast you can get around the neck once you have played a guitar for only a few weeks.I have 13 guitars with 24 to 25 1/2 ' scales. Two have super shred paper thin necks ...others are easily 50's style necks. my Harmony H88 has a neck nic named 'The Lo' I can even shred on it. Yes triplets at 150bpm and no slop either!!!

    The only things I can say I dislike about this guitar/model are the black headstock (wish it were natural to match the neck and fingerboard or matching ash like the body, it's really out of place on the swirl color) and the bulky square bolt on joint. In this day and age it's kind of unacceptable as there are so many ergonomic af bolt on designs out there.

    Personally I kinda hate that the pickguard exists on this model. Nothing is mounted to it, and it's clear, so it is doing nothing functionally and nearly nothing aesthetically. You could take it off without even removing the knobs or pickups, but then you'd have the holes left from the screws. But from your still shots it looks like they offer one that's a slightly different shape but with no pickguard and a contoured heel on a set neck--what Ibanez calls a "set-thru" neck joint. I'm sure there are tons of people who think just the bit of glossy the pickguard offers is a subtle and cool thing, but for me it's awfully not quite perfect for that price point.

    • @Jaryth14
      @Jaryth14 4 роки тому

      See? Told you somebody would like it. Just not me. lol. In my experience scratches aren't a major issue with matte guitars. It is also my experience that replacing a pickguard that isn't a standard les paul, strat, or tele design is a pain in the ass, so if you are a rough enough player to scratch it, you'll just have a scratch on a much glossier surface where it'll be extra visible. And if you are the kind of guitarist to spend that much money on a guitar to gig with, I'll be that ash top will look really cool once it gets a bit road worn.
