    This is a crazy deal. I’ve been eyeing the Vasti KJM for awhile and now it’s down to $1,150. Super affordable all things considered.

    Heat shrink tubing is great for getting rid of the spring noise. Put it over the spring and heat it till it touches the spring so it can still move freely through it. Just don't let it shrink and grip too much or it'll affect the return to pitch.

    @kdh i use paper towels for my springs too! I fold 1 full sheet like 3 times to make a rectangle shape ,then tape around all 4 sides of the paper rectangle. Almost looks like a maxi pad.I just lay it over the springs the pt the cover back on. The paper rectangle is firm enough so the springs dont bite into the paper.

    I’m friends with a local shop that was a dealer for these guitars (he’s also a dealer for Tyler) and he had nothing but praise after praise for them even at the $2k+ price point, but they didn’t sell well and I think it was the cost vs the unknown name. Now that they are direct and so much cheaper to compete with guitars like the Ibanez Prestige line, they are even more amazing.

    Cool looking guitar and design. The reverse angle middle and bridge pickups should produce brighter bass and warmer treble tones. And the reverse headstock should reduce floppy bass strings, and make the treble strings feel more slinky because string tension is related to string length (saddles to tuners).

    Awesome looking axe. Used to use the tone roll down to tame some older twangy Marshalls to get rid of the brightness.
    I do hope they would try a locking tremolo and maybe some EVO frets for us that are metal allergy challenged.
    Does the tremolo stay in tune with the locking tuners?

    Interesting, whenever i have a strat I typically delete the middle pickup and wire it with a 3 way switch because i pretty much use the neck + bridge sound exclusively with singles.
    Btw FGN guitars are Japanese and compete with this company for price and specs but theyre rarely exported outside Japan.

    @MashaT22 11 місяців тому +1

    It’s like totally unheard of to lower prices in this day and age. Going direct helps, of course. It also has some downsides. For instance, where most small shops usually throw in a free setup (and often free new strings of your choice), now you’re stuck paying for it after it gets shipped to your home (which also means lugging it to a shop and taking the time to do so) or doing the setup yourself at home (if you know how and have the time). That’s like another hundred bucks for a pro setup (using Sweetwater’s pricing - might be more or less depending where you live depending on the shop, and no, SW won’t throw in free strings with that) slapped onto that price.
    It’s still a phenomenal deal, but it is an added time/money cost that still needs to be factored in. I think most people would be thrilled with that trade off when you see how much they were able to drop the prices.
    I have worried for a long time now that the big companies are going to cut off shops to make a similar move - but instead of cutting the final price, they would keep more profit margins for themselves. I hope this isn’t the wave of the future. It would be horrible if small shops are put out of business. Indie music shops are really needed in our world.

      You don't need to go to any shop as to do any settings with these guitars ... you take them out of the box and play ... and 100 box for a "setting" (basically doing not much on that kind of guitar) and changing strings ? I would not go to a shop that ask that amount of money quite frankly ...

    The only thing that would give me pause about this would be the radius and medium jumbo frets. I’m spoiled by my Mayones with jumbo frets and a 16” radius. Do you notice much difference in playability compared to your Ormsby guitars etc?

  • @augmented2nd666
    @augmented2nd666 11 місяців тому +1

    Unfortunately they only do 12" radius on literally all their guitars. Its so hard to find anything above 14" except Jackson with the compound up to 16" radius, and the Periphery sig at 20". So weird that so few companies do a flatter radius, which allows for lower action for lighter touch playing, you will find 20" on the Allan Holdsworth models which makes sense if you listen to his playing, as well as Shawn Lane's Vigier siganture model. Would be nice to see more companies offer this feature as I think it would make a massive difference compared to all the tiny differences between each companies guitars these days.

    Beautiful guitar! With seriously nice specs.
    For Japanese build under 1000 USB, but admittedly without the locking tuners, roasted necks, nor Lumilay dot markers, oh... and no flame maple cap there is the Ibanez Genesis RG550 which retails for 1000 USD. Definitely an '80s icon, but it has arguably the best version of a Floyd Rose ever. [Ibanez's EDGE tremolo].
    Also, the FGN guitars are made in the same Fuji Gen factory as Ibanez, but less expensive as it's their 'house' brand and is I guess, more of a "factory-direct" pricing ability. [just a guess]. Some of their's are in the 800 USD range.

    What I've learned over the decades is that it's well worth looking at second hand guitars before you even think of buying one brand new. Everyone's different, of course, and I don't mean the 'vintage' market when I say second hand - just previously owned guitars that play and sound good. Having said that...this guitar seems like it's excellent value for money. If I were in the market for a new one I'd consider this brand. Your reviews are always honest and informative.

      As long as you can see and hold it in advance then a used guitar is a great option. I would however personally refrain from buying a used guitar online personally. Some people are trying to get rid of stuff with problems sometimes and you can pay the price if you hadn’t seen it in person first… but then you should just be able to return it 🤷🏽‍♂️

    I'd like to go off topic if I may. Looking for advice, since this is a guitar channel. The thread sheared in the B string saddle of my Floyd Rose bridge. I ordered a new set of saddles. I put them on, got the bridge level, checked the neck relief and string height before having a look at the intonation (which I knew would be way off). I shortened the low E as much as it'd go on the bridge and the 12th fret harmonic still showed a slightly high D on the tuner. This was the only one I did at the moment, haven't checked the rest as I became disheartened and needed to go to bed as I had work in the morning. Can anyone give me advice on getting the intonation right on a Floyd Rose-equipped guitar. Mine is a Jackson Randy Rhoads.

    Ibanez Genesis guitars are still the most affordable MIJ guitars and they are excellent. Very high quality MIJ super strats for usually around 1k. I found mine for $800 and it's superb. That said, Vola is rad and I want one of these. Glad their price on this went down.

    The resale value thing is among the silliest reasons for buying or not buying a guitar -- or anything. When you base the purchase of anything on what you can resell it for you are, in essence, allowing others (who're complete strangers to you) to control your purchase(s). Why would you do that? Beats me, but may do.

Dingwall did then changed them to spikey things...lol..it was a beautiful headstock on the older N2 & N3's but now to ugly for me..i'm not into multi scale bass's anyway...i revesed one half of my P pickup to get more bass from the D & G strings..not less...these are beautiful bass's & guitars for sure but for people that gig or record...pro musicians... if you really like their guitars just under £1200 is a really good price for the build quality & what you get, better than paying over £3000+ for an old man's poorly built Gibson LP that will give you a headache....hope you enjoy it for years to come...🎸👍

    Hey @KDH. I recently ordered a DIY guitar kit from Allen Eden guitars. They sent me a kit that someone already assembled and fucked up and they haven't responded to any of my emails. You should do an audio audit video on them. It seems like other people have had problems with them too. Seems almost like a scam.

    I know you worry bro but making it very clear that you benefit from a sale using your code, dont sweat that shit bro. Its bullshit if anyone has a problem with it. You earn that and thats the spoils of having a great channel. You earn every bit of it. Keep up the great work!

    Hey guys, this is my second vola oz and i'm having tuning stability issues. this time its the revised version with the string tree. The low e and a string go out of whack when i use the tremolo. Even when very lightly. Im assuming this is a nut issue? also, the famous "ping sound". Anyone have any advice they could give me and if they had this issue as well?
    it would be highly appreciated. I dont want to send this guitar back. Its amazing.

      If the nut is cut well your biggest tuning problems will lie with the string tree. Any points of friction on the string between the trem and the machine head is always going to cause string friction and ‘tremolo related’ tuning issues (this is why Seymour Duncan invented the locking trem). Vola’s idea of retrospectively adding a string tree in my opinion is fraught with massive tuning problems as the string tree on reverse headstock guitars has to be fitted to hold down the longer bass side wound strings. The wound strings create even more string friction at the string tree than unwound strings do on ‘normal orientated’ 6-a-side headstock guitars.
      Looking at the You Tube reviews of the OZ TNC it appears that there is not enough break angle at the headstock on these reverse headstock OZ models to keep the low E seated in the nut slot. You could try filing the nut slot deeper for the low E string (possibly file the slot for the A string slightly too) and lubricating the slots with graphite or ‘nut sauce’ and removing the string tree. If you’re not familiar with filing nut slots probably best to find someone who can do this for you. I have removed the string trees from two of my super Strat’s it gives them far better tuning stability with and without trem use. Both have 2-point trems and staggered locking tuners like the OZ however they have ‘normal’ headstocks.

    The only thing I would improve is the matt finish in the headstock. It looks cheap compared to the rest of the guitar. BUt this is me being picky, the price on this is insane

    Wait what? A guitar brand just got cheaper? Can't be!
    But i just looked at the website, these prices are totally reasonable if the guitar is as good as you say.

    It's commendable that Vola is putting out lower priced guitars however $1500 Canadian is still too much for a guitar with stainless steel frets. Yamaha has stainless steel frets in their Standard model, which cost me under $1000 brand new and the quality is top notch.

    It’s a COIL SPLIT! Not coil tap. Coil tap is when manufactures wind a pickup and will take signal from let’s say at about half the windings and then finish the pickup. Hence the tap. This way you have a connection to use the pickup with less output. Most of the time this is done on single coils.

    considering a new midrange epi is $600 gibson is really fucking over its customers and thats expected. I feel like this would be comparible to Squier who seem to still be providing more affordable guitars at the same quality range as epiphone. the new Sonic Series is fantastic.
