I remember being a kid in the 80s and my older brother who would watch me while my parents where out, would let me stay up until 1 am to watch this. Knowing it was filmed in my own backyard made it even more special! I wish I could go back to when the city was a great place to live and my brother was still alive. I would have cherished those nights so much more if I would have known that my bro would be taken away so soon. But it's great to have those memories in my heart and even greater to share it with him. Miss you everyday brother!

My Dad and I loved this show! Stella was magnificent, and she gave Dad a few laughs at a time when he was in pretty bad shape. If the Maneater from Manayunk ever reads this, thank you!

OMG ! I have awesome memories of this show back in time. Growing up in the 80s i remember staying up @ midnight waiting for "Stella The Saturday Night Dead Show", just see "Stella The Man Eater From Manayunk" here in Philly. I dont know its something exciting about this show that drew me in. Was it "Stella"?, was it the whole classic horror movies.....of course. Or was it a show produced, written, aired, & something we can call our own from our hometown Philadelphia......Absolutely yes ! Wow ! Thanks for uploading my childhood favorite show next to "Pee-Wee's Playhouse & Dancin' On Air'"......❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Oh boy, does this bring back some fond 80's memories of staying up late after SNL ended to watch this show! Stella took that voluptuous Rita Hayworth-esque hotness to a whole new level! And they showed some interesting and obscure horror films to boot, many of which I only saw on SND and haven't seen since. I remember seeing one film in particular that combined vampires and kung fu! I kid you not! I wish I could remember what the title was. Anyway, if you spent your coming-of-age years in the 80's in the southern New Jersey / Philadelphia area, then you probably know this show all too well. It was iconic for its time and quite entertaining in a hokey sort of way.

The movie you speak of sounds like Legend of the 7 Deadly Vampires. It could also be a Shaw Brothers movie. And yeah Stella and SND was the absolute best.

Philly had the best TV cheese ever. Chief Halftown. The Larry Ferrari Show, Dr. Shock.......
Where it was really happening was up on the UHF dial late at night. All kinds of weird Sci-Fi movies and cheesy old black and white horror movies on channels 17,29 and 48. . Fun times to be a kid with Philly TV in the early 1970s. Standard definition was just fine, thanks.

Stella actually looked better when the picture was a little fuzzy.

This show is NOT listed on the imdb website. It should be since they have virtually everything ever produced...
I know that they have criteria for what they add to their website, like the existence of a movie/tv show/video game, etc., needs to be verifiable & all that; I am fighting with them right now to try and get this show listed on their site!
I've already explained to them that it was a locally run and produced television show from a local tv station in Philadelphia ...

Her episode with Jane Norman (Pixanne) and Sally Starr is NOT to be missed! Nostalgia overload, some titillating innuendo by ALL concerned, and Stella shows real reverence for the two Phila.-market kid's TV fixtures.

Stella was a stand-up comic at the Jersey Shore -- the ONLY worthwhile thing she ever did while standing up! ha ha! -- when she got the call from KYW to star in a short-term late-night show intended to fill-in for other programming. As such things often happen, instead of being a 6-mo. gig, it went on for years.

Brings me back to the Jersey Shore in the 80's. We were from NY but cable TV at the Shore in those days carried Philly affiliates. Our only chance to watch this great show staying up late on Saturday nights. Good memories.

Damn it! America needs more late night movie shows like this. I'm happy Elvira is back on but we need another Joe Job Briggs or Psychotronic Cinema or Sinister Cinema! Shows like these made my childhood so much more entertaining.

Funny how you said this 12 year's ago and as of about 7 year's ago Joe Bob Briggs returned to Shudder. I still miss MonsterVison though, but The Last Drive-In is awesome to.

..& that I can understand why it wouldn't be that popular bc not that many ppl ever saw it & so not that many ppl know that it exists.
I am feeding them the urls for the listings that this show has on Wikipedia & YT bc, apparently they expect the person who makes the request to supply them with the information that they supposedly need to verify the existence of whatever they add to their site...but, ...
