7:47 "I love a movie where the two partners don't get along." So Lethal Weapon next?
Mary, watching you singing "War" was so cute to this ol' skool soul brotha...good choice sweetie!!
I love jackie chan
@@tarmok3756 Shanghai Noon IMO. Jackie and Owen Wilson together is even better than Jackie and Tucker.
If you are into hilarious martial arts, I highly recommend Kung Fu Hustle. I also highly recommend IP Man - even though it is not funny, it is a martial arts movie with very good storytelling.
This trilogy does not disappoint, so many quotable lines 👌😂
Rush hour 2 was the Best one
No doubt about it
I donk know I was pretty disapointed by 3. Love 2 tho
I want some mooshu!!!
Rush hour 3 was the best for me
One of Jackie Chan's first roles is as an extra in a Bruce Lee film and Bruce accidentally hits Jackie for real with nunchucks or a bo or something. They finished the scene and Bruce rushed to Jackie apologizing but Jackie took it as a badge of honor. That day Bruce Lee validated Jackie Chan. Legends!
It was a hard wood staff yeah. Jackie wasn't hurt (because he was knocked out on his feet, so there was no pain). But he played pretend he was hurt because Bruce was holding him and obviously Bruce was a hero to a lot of Chinese people.
The movie is Enter the Dragon.
Bruce Lee promised Jackie that he would be in every movie he did but Bruce died a month before Enter the Dragon premiered
@@missingrighty Bruce died before ETD was released? Never knew that. Damn...
@@st0n3p0ny yep it's real sad how Bruce didn't get to see the good work and masterpiece he did
Jackie Chan does all of his own stunts to the point where he had to make his own insurance company because nobody else would cover him
If these stunts and martial arts impressed you, you should see Jackie's Hong Kong movies. He literally almost died in one of his films _(Armor of God)._ And in another he literally jumped down a three story pole without a net _(Police Story)._
Drunken Master is still a favorite of mine. The second one, that was released in the US first.
@@MandoWookie the second one is probably the greatest martial arts movie ever. The amount of skill needed for the fights is next level.
Meals on wheels fight scenes are also great and underrated
Fun fact: While filming the bar fight scene Jackie was completely unaware of the history behind the N-word. After recording the scene he asked Chris Tucker why everyone would be so mad because the scene wasn't making sense to him and after Chris Tucker explained he was ashamed and vowed to never say it again and that he wouldn't do anymore Rush Hour movies if he had to use that word again.
oh damn, i didn't know that....
@@vtsoi4413 he's respectful in that way; he even asked the director to pull f-words out of the script (maybe not all of them but you know)
Where did you hear that? I’m trying to look it up. I mean if that’s true, I’m not surprised because that seems to be his character!
Jackie Chan is the salt of the earth
@@bilalc4415 its a comment on the internet with 0 sources mentioned. So it must be true
If you’re impressed here, Jackie Chans stunts in his Hong Kong movies are FAR superior compared to his American ones. Jackie use to talked about how much he hated the production for US movies cause they’re so rushed and edited poorly.
Also him and Chris Tucker were not the best of friends in real life either during the first movie. Chris Tucker would always show up late, crack jokes and improv during scenes. Jackie wasn't use to that or Tuckers hyperactive-ness. Plus Chan's english wasnt as good back then.
Rumble in the Bronx next! It's a solid action flick and there's A LOT of Australians in the dub.
They good now. Chris Tucker has been to china to visit him multiple times.
Tucker would help Jackie with his English on set, and Jackie would teach him martial arts in return, so there was a little mutual respect
After watching American movies with Iko Uwais, I agree with Jackie Chan about them being rushed and edited poorly.
In all fairness, no American insurance company would cover an Asian style Jackie Chan movie, so his martial arts scenes are toned down considerably in American movies.
Jackie Chan was already a martial arts/movie legend, but this trilogy really put him in Hollywood. And Chris Tucker is at his best in this movie trilogy.
Either this movie or "the Fifth Element" were Chris Tucker's best!
This and "Friday" I think
Jackie’s films are known for their outtakes during the credits. Although the ones on the RH trilogy are funny, his Hong Kong films are more of him getting hurt doing the stunts. 🤕
Jackie Chan actually barely knew English during this movie. He said he literally only knew his lines and that’s it and he still managed to give a great performance
Chris tucker actually taught him some English
@@marlonclark1896 I bet the first thing he taught him was the n word line, that would be HILARIOUS AF
Chan was in a movie in Chicago called The Big Brawl in 1980 and he also did another movie called The Protector which was filmed in NY and Japan 1985 with the late Danny Aeillo and his English was pretty good
Jackie has interviews from the 1980s and he speaks English. His English was very good in 1998 when the first Rush Hour was released.
@@Paul-sl9zm he improved in the 80's
Back when comedy was at it's peak and prime levels. Chris Tucker is a legend♥️
we are in a drought rn
Movies stopped being funny in the 2010s, with the one except of 21 and 22 Jump Street.
@@Antwannnn that's cause everyone gets offended too easily.
Too many snowflakes cryin cumplainin now a days 🥴
@Randy White well if that were true than we would have actual comedy again. We wouldn't have people say "well that didnt age well" over a joke that has to do with rice and asian people. We wouldn't have people constantly try to cancel south park because its "offensive". Trust me dude there are more people who get offended than people who complain about people being offended.
Fun Fact: The cab driver who pulls a gun on Lee and Carter is Gene LeBell, famous martial artist, stunt man and wrestler, who also worked with Bruce Lee, as did Jackie.
He also put Steven Seagal to sleep. Made him number 2 himself lol.
Wow never knew that awesome
Gene LeBell also fought a boxer named Milo Savage in a boxing vs judo match, and he won.
0:50 Fun Fact, Jackie Chan's stunt team actually helped with the martial art scenes in Shang Chi!
Plus, the director if Shang Chi actually wants Jackie Chan to be cast in the sequel movie!!!! 💪🙏🏽
Rip Brad Allen
@@IanJenn356094 Yeah 🙏🏽😔
Jackie and Chris are a dynamic comedy duo.
Nobody does Jackie’s stunts. That’s the beauty of his acting. He comes up with and choreographs almost all of his moves and has broken pretty much every bone in his body including his pelvis which is why he runs a little funny. He’s a master of his craft.
Compare the choreography in this to the Jedi fights in Star Wars. It's embarrassing. And some people think those were good. Any bargain basement Asian movie has better fights than Star Wars. Lucas wasted a great concept
Not really, he still have doubles. But it's only when there're some moves he can't perform to his liking or when he's suffering from injuries
I actually got to meet both Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan as they filmed a Rush Hour 3 fight scene at the hospital that I work at and got them to sign my Rush Hour 2 dvd. Jackie is bigger than I thought he would be as I met him. Those 2 are kind and hilarious!
Cool!
That’s so cool
Mary, the Rush Hour trilogy is where most Westerners saw Jackie for the first time. But true fans know his greater films and stunts, which he made starting in the mid-1970s.
Correct. His early work in Hong Kong was dope. 👍
Actually it was Rumble in the Bronx.
I first saw him in Cannonball Run
Lol for me the first time seeing Jackie Chan was his animated tv show and then Rush Hour.
@@Vanquish79 Me too, and that made me watch his HK films in the 1970s, when I also found out he worked with Bruce Lee.
This generation is too sensitive for this movie
Why ? It would made today
Truer words.
Fun Fact: The home they used as the Chinese Consulate was used as the exterior of Wayne Manor in the 60s Batman TV series.
Coo
Nice detail.
chris and jackie became really really great friends after doing 3 rush hours and when jackie got a lifetime achievement award from the oscars it was chris tucker who presented it to him . also tucker was really close to prince and michael jackson
Jackie Chan and Tom Cruise are the only 2 Hollywood actors who have their own insurance policy, because they do their own stunts. No one wants to insure them because it's crazy risk. That's why lately Tom Cruise is even producing his movies on his own.
Wtf I refuse to believe people have never seen this film.
Jackie Chan is a GLOBAL treasure! The Rush Hour trilogy is a staple for action/comedy films, I hope you continue through them!
I don't care how old this movie is it's still one of my best and favorite movies to rewatch.
Jackie Chan is a Legend at Comedy and Martial Arts👌
If you liked this, I definitely recommend "Supercop" (1992), in which Chan partners up with Michelle Yeoh. That's my favorite of his movies. It's the third film in the "Police Story" series, but you don't need to watch the first two films to understand anything.
didn't expect the very apparent disregard for Chris Tucker 💀
Yh she hated anything he did and loved anything chan did 🤔🤔
@@Southlondonrider92 she racist
Hey Mary. The fact is that Jackie Chan is very well known for doing all of his own stunts. Rush Hour was actually kinda mild in comparison to many of his other movies. Especially his earlier work from Hong Kong. You might want to check out his other movies, Rumble In The Bronx and Mr. Nice Guy being two really good examples.
I love Rumble in the Bronx, got it on cassette tape and watched it a million times!
We need the second and third movies, you will love them!!! They are all classic action comedies that I don't feel anyone's life would be completed without viewing 💯💕
30:36 no one does Jackie’s stunts he does it all himself
Chris Tucker was the best part of these movies
"He's a good dad. I think he's gonna die."
That would be the Disney curse
Cell phones did exist in 1998, but they weren't as common. They were very expensive and were big and bulky.
“You aint got no baby back ribs no chicken wings?!!”
“CHInese food nO SOul food HERE”
😂
you need to see part 2 it picks up right where this left off you'll love it.
Rush Hour was one of my childhood favorites. You definitely have to check out Rush Hour 2.
Chris Tucker was so absolutely hilarious in this movie. Sadly, no way you could get away with these kinds of films these days though
You bots love saying that lie.
@@deckzone3000 there isn't this type of talent in Hollywood and studious are subconsciously programmed to be as riskless and edgeless as possible. Name anything outside of another MC or DC movie that was actually clever or action liked this in last 5 years.
@@TheRebuilt1 Everything Everywhere All at Once
Ironically Warner brothers is trying to make a rush hour 4 lol
Rush Hour 2 is my favorite of the trilogy. The dialogues are just hilarious!
ALL ´Rush Hour´ movies are well made. Worth it.
Yes! Finally! The best buddy cop movie! Non-stop laughs and action on this one! So happy you reacted to this M! Jackie and Chris are legends on this one! Looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the trilogy M!
my second favorite buddy cop film after Lethal weapon
Oh snaps!!!! This is a classic!!!!! Hope you enjoy the movie! 💪🙏🏽
As good as Rush Hour is, I actually think Rush Hour 2 is the best one.
Jackie chan does all his stunts
If you want to see real martial arts
Watch IP MAN. 1 -4
THE RAID 1AND 2
You singing Mariah Carey Fantasy put a smile on my face😁
You should do Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights after these.
These movies will always be my favorite! Rush Hour 2 is even better!
Many, though not all, modern museums rent artifacts from their rightful nations. However, we also need to keep in mind that some of the artifacts original owners have legitimately changed owners when nations choose to sell artifacts to museums with better viewing values (more people come to see/generate more revenue). Pieces on display today in reputable museums require authentication by recognized owners. The catch is that previously stolen items may take years to be established as stolen.
One Of The Best Unlikely Buddy Cop Movies Ever Made
Seeing Mary dance and sing "War" along with Carter and Lee in one of my favorite movies ever made is a bit of serotonin that I needed. So adorable!
She "hates the fact that he's wearing a suit during all these action sequences"... what? What should he be wearing throughout the movie? A leotard?
The way the subtitles added the hard R when they said nigga I- 😭😩
I don't remember this movie being this rediculously not PC, or r we just too PC today? Either way. this is twice as hilarious now than me watching it over and over as a kid.
Hollywood is just super PC today. Everything made more than 10 years ago wouldnt be allowed to be made today.
Yes we are just severely pc these days, its jokes and its funny.
This was normal back then. Ppl didn’t get bent out of shape over a joke. I saw it in theaters. The crowd was laughing the whole time.
I don’t think they could make a Rush Hour 4 in this climate or if they did, it wouldn’t hit the same. And both actors have voiced wanting to make a part 4 since as far back as 2018. Still ain’t made it though.
If this trilogy was made today, Chris Tucker would be racist in 1, homophobic in 2, and transphobic in 3.
Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan are the most beloved police duet in cinema ... West and East together ... Boom! Rush hour, baby ! Soo - Yung is a brave and adorable little chinese lady !
Jackie Chan also memorably teamed up with Owen Wilson in the western movies "Shanghai Noon" and "Shanghai Nights."
I would wholeheartedly recommend The Legend of Drunken Master, a Jackie Chan classic.
Yes!!!! Jackie is awesome! Has lots of iconic Kung Fu artists. My fav is Ti Lung
Rush Hour 2 is the gem of the series!
Jackie Chan is pure cinema.
Yup
I cant wait for Rush Hour 2.
Legendary 😂🔥🔥🔥
Rush Hour 2 is even better. Also Jackie is hilarious in Shanghai Noon.
13:52 Cell phones have existed since the 80s I believe, but usually upper middle class and up people had them. It wasn't until around 1998-2000 when they started becoming more affordable and commonplace. I didn't get my first cell phone until I was 19 in 2002 lol.
Definitely finish the trilogy, Mary.
Two Words - Cultural Revolution. The Chinese have a mixed history about appreciating their culture.
Also, Jackie Chan is amongst that group of actors who do their own stunts.
Definitely worth reacting to the full trilogy and also Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights with Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson, also reacting to some of his earlier comedy films would be cool.
You should on your own time, watch some videos with "Chris Tucker and Michael Jackson. I've been watching these movies my entire life. Really fun,is huge deal and really good and entertaining.
Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker's chemistry together is top tier!
This is a certified hood classic!
Facts my man
I got serious rush-hour vibes from Shang Chi and the legend of the 10 rings. IMO, rush-hour two is the best in the trilogy. Carter in a Chinese karaoke bar, … enough said.
Jackie Chan does all his own Stunts
Yes, it's all his own stunts, and also remember that he was about 43-44 here... The age when a lot of people sits on the couch, practicing their remote control moves. :)
True
Definitely do rush hour 2.
Jackie got his stage name Jackie from aussie tradies when he was working in Canberra as a labourer when he was 18. They just started calling him Jack because they couldn't pronounce his chinese name properly then the nick name jack became Jacko and then Jackie
I can't wait to watch"Rush Hour 2. Chris Tucker is one of my favorite comedians of all-time. Jackie is true legend. Should watch "Mr. Nice Guy and my all-time favorite "Rumble in the Bronx. ⚘
Love both of those. Who Am I is a good one two. Especially the final fight
After the rush hour series, Shanghai noon and Shanghai Knights next!! Love Owen Wilson and Jackie together too! Jackie just works so well with anyone! :)
A film critic once remarked that no one worked harder to please his audience than Jackie Chan.
When I was a much younger man, we used to go into Chinatown in Philadelphia to purchase bootleg Jackie Chan films on VHS. It was the only way to see some of his incredible work from Hong Kong, and well worth the effort. It's nice that we live in a time where you can see his entire catalog much easier now, but I do sometimes miss the treasure hunt aspect of being an old school fan.
Classic movie!!!! Hope you enjoy the movie!
Agreed! 💪
The outtakes for rush hour are some of the best.
Hope your headache gets better... Isn't Ibuprophen dangerous for the liver?
Rush Hour! Oh man! I own and love all these movies. I'm watching all these with you "Mary! 🤩
I see no rudeness in him. Back when this was best action comedy movie.
Jackie Chan is beyond amazing, in every way. There was a false rumor he died of covid in 2020, Marvel's trying to get him to be in Shang Chi 2, hopefully for a big role. He's just great. Jet Li and Bruce Lee are both phenomenal, but Jackie Chan just has a charisma that the others lack, at least to his extent. It's the humor, I think.
Man, after she watches these, Id love for her to watch Beverly Hills Cop with Eddie Murphy. A little older and more mature, but it's equally good and has a lot of funny moments.
Chris Tucker was a good friend of Michael Jackson
You should watch Rush Hour 2 tomorrow
Def need to watch the other 2.
One day I was going to Wing Chun training here in Melbourne, and there was a crowd of people, so I went and had a look and it was Jackie Chen doing a tram stunt lol
You should watch Shanghai Noon and it's sequel Shanghai Knights. It's a western starring Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson
Another great LA cop duo are Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in the Lethal Weapon series.
When movies were actually witty and funny instead of vulgarities supposedly being funny as it is today.
Jackie does all his own stunts, often with broken bones from doing them so often. He tends to have a blooper reel at the end of all his films, and is generally a great personality.
Rush Hour 2 is a comedy Masterpiece ..........Bloopers are killer at the end.....
Elizabeth Peña fantastic beautiful actress. R.I.P.
Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are the best .
Jackie does his stunts on his own. lol no way there is gonna be a stuntman for him
Damn I felt old when she said she hadn't seen a JC movie before..
This trilogy was my childhood yo!
The matial arts on show in this movie really arent that special. You need to see Jackie's Hong Kong movies if you really want to be impressed. The Police Story films, Who Am I?, Wheels on Meals, Armor of God, Operation Condor, Drunken Master 2 etc are all far superior to anything he made in the US.
Rush Hour 2 was life for me in college. Lol
Please post a Reax to Rush Hour 2…you will not regret it! Thank you
The number of times I watched this movie as a kid, I think I can quote all the lines in it.
