      Nice to hear and thanks for the feedback. The hungarian Zeltbahn has become my favorite military/retro tent. I guess i fell for the camouflage. I will check out your channel as well 👍

    How many pounds does the lavvu weigh? how do you keep the rain out from the top?

    • @Nordstreben
      @Nordstreben  Рік тому

      Hi, the tent (both halves without pole and tent stakes) weighs around 2.8kg / 6.17 lbs.
      As far as I know the idea was to put a helmet on top to keep the rain out. A pot from a mess kit should do the trick as well 🙂

    Hi, this video came up in my recommended list so I decided to view it because I am interested in how people manage with the small Hungarian Lavvu as opposed to the larger, much more expensive Polish Lavvu. How tall are you, it looked like you slept diagonally?
    Why did the level of the two entrance flaps not match up, I cannot understand why the two doors are at such different levels? Nice of you to leave your slip into the lake getting your boots wet, we all make mistakes, but what happened, did you slip on a rock or mud?
    Now the constructive criticism part - I guess that most of the 345 views so far have probably been from folk like myself who are interested in watching folk outdoors, doing Wild Camping, Bushcraft, Survival etc. but what we don't always sign up for, is someone else's choice of music drowning everything else out. It was so nice at the 7.35 point for the music to stop and to hear nature, the birds singing, the water, the wind etc. The music for your packing away your Lavvu and showing your Leave No Trace was again making me want to switch off or mute the video - you just need to very careful with YOUR choice of music, how loud it is and whether viewers want to hear it as opposed to natural sounds. That's my opinion on MUSIC which I think, in this case, spoilt the otherwise good film. Anyway, please don't take offense, I am subscribing as I really think everyone should get a chance to grow on UA-cam and every subscription counts towards that first 100 then, 1000. Happy New Year to you.

      Hi, thanks for your feedback and the time you took for commenting here and on my other videos. Much appreciated. I will definetly take your advise into consideration when editing my next video. Some points you mention are simply caused by technical limitations (for example bad mic, insufficent battery power). I guess I have to invest in better equipment sooner than later ;)
      Regarding your question, the entrance flaps didn't match because the shelter halfs have a different size. Back then I didn't know that the hungarian lavvu had different sizes. I upgraded with a few extra halfs and have three matching pairs now. I am 1,90 m tall (6'3") and sleeping diagonally is the only comfortable way for me. A setup without the pole is the most convenient.
      As you wondered about my origin and location: Yes, I am German but live in Sweden
      at the east cost in the southern part of the country. But I travel to other parts as well.
      All the best!

      @@Nordstreben Interesting, I didn't know that the Hungarian Lavvu came in different sizes. Are they measured like the Polish Lavvu with the number of eyelets at the bottom of the entrance flaps. One for Small, Two for Medium and Three for Large? I was going to buy two of the Hungarian halves recently, but there was no mention of sizes - I shall watch out for that in future.
      Some folk seem to manage very well with a Smartphone and external wired microphone whereas a lot of Outdoors channels rely on GoPro/OSMO Action with or without external wired or wireless audio. I'm still using GoPro 5 & 6 albeit, I do have an OSMO Action too - none of them give great audio in windy conditions so I have a choice of a wired or wireless system or you can record straight on to your Smartphone. I don't know the editing software you're using and each to their own and what they find easier to work with. I use HitFilm Express free version, but you need a minimum of 8Gb RAM to handle it and my Laptop is lagging sometimes when editing long High Definition films. 16 Gb or 32 Gb would be much better.
      So you have a big sea between you and Finland. I have sailed across that sea many times from Finland to Sweden.

      I was also suprised and I did not see any difference or marking that indicates size. I first noticed it when I layed one half over the other. I will check that next time I revise my gear.
      I tried with my smartphone as well but was unsatisfied with the quality. I then bought a noname action cam but noticed too late that I can't add an extern microphone. So I think I will go for the GoPro as well. I will check out that editing program, that sounds promising. Thanks!
      Yes, a big sea 🙂 Do you have a special connection to Finland?

    You gonna patch those holes?

    • @Nordstreben
      @Nordstreben  2 роки тому

      I patched the bigger holes but later on I got two hungarian lavvus in much better condition so I actually made a vest from one half shown in the video and use the remaining half as a tarp now. 🙂
