That gave me flashbacks to being a kid at Disneyland and seeing the jamboree. Looks like essentially the same show as it was decades ago there but with updated music.
It was really nice, I liked their twist on the songs they did and the overall vibe, maybe I would have liked the original, but this was a great update in my opinion.
Country Bears is not from a movie. It is an opening day original from 1971. Those were original songs. The 1983 date you mentioned is actually the Tokyo opening date.
Another fan of the original! I never got to see the Christmas overlay at MK, sadly but Vacation Hoedown, the replacement for the original at Disneyland was my favorite. This is the version currently playing at Tokyo Disneyland. Disney shortened the one at MK which was a bad sign it would eventually go away forever. Glad that it was reimagined to stay around for a long time. I watched the D23 presentation at the attraction last week and it was mentioned that each song was strategically placed with each bear. It wasn’t random. If you aren’t familiar with the original that wouldn’t mean anything though. 😂 Also, I was glad the “heads” on the wall are used throughout the show again. Before the change, they were only used at the beginning. I won’t be back to WDW until December and it’s been so hard for me to not watch any spoilers. I skip ahead during those parts. 😉 Looking forward to seeing the new show! Oh, the displays in the lobby are all new. The imagineers mentioned this is what is in the lobby at Tokyo so they wanted to replicate that feel. I’m glad they preserved the “claw” marks on the floor. Fun touch. 😊
Unfortunately, I did not see the original, but people definitely loved it! I didn't realize they had one in Tokyo, though! And yes, the heads are used multiple times! It's a lot fun! I'm actually very impressed with the whole show at the moment. There's a lot of changes from what I'm hearing, I just unfortunately don't have the knowledge because I haven't spent much time in there, and I kind of wish I had at this point haha. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did when you eventually make it out!

I'm looking forward to the new show and I am VERY happy to hear that the new show is good. Unlike Nicole, the show is one of my favorites and I never miss the show when I am in the park (as well as the People Mover and Carousel of Progress.) There used to be two other versions - there was a Christmas one, and a vacation one. They both ended many years ago, but supposedly they are still changed out in Tokyo (I really must visit that park.) From what you showed, I like the new songs and the new costumes. I look forward to seeing the show - but Roman will ALWAYS be Liver Lips! Nice to see Disney with a win. By the way - that is an original attraction, opening in 1971 and used to be sponsored by Pepsi (I think.) Tiana's is actually working?!?!? LOL. Heh - it stopped, why am I NOT surprised! When they run, you can just hop on at Town Square or in front of the Castle. It's been awhile since I've done it, just because its easier to walk - but you should definitely try it at least once. You have a lot to see once you're back in the parks! So much has been going on haha! I was reading other comments about a Christmas one, which could be a lot of fun, but not the vacation one. Did they swap up the music and costumes? I think this was a very nice win for Disney, at least if you aren't upset the original show is gone haha. I was just recently reading about Liver Lips, I didn't realize the name changed, but to be fair I didn't know much before hand, so it makes sense. I feel like a lot of attractions had sponsors back in the day, almost wish more would do it again so we could get more investment into the rides. So I've been hearing, but not confirmed, the water was left in a lot of places on the ride and many sensors got rusted and what not. And they can only tell the faulty ones when they trigger, so they can replace the sensor everytime that's why it stops. Which results in increased evacs and breakdowns. Not sure it's real or not, but that's what I've been hearing 🤫 So you literally just ask them and they take you? It's not like a "get selected" kind of thing? Because I'll definitely ask to go on next time! We are climbing, which is crazy, but also so cool to see the community go. I still don't think so, but maybe haha!

This version seems less repeatable. They should have brought back the other versions they used to have. One i think was called the sommer vacation hoedown or something like that and they had a Christmas one. They should have done a rotation of shows like they used to.
