Great video, amte. Kraken Week was an awesome opportunity for us new, smaller channels to share our creations with the big boys and build on the momentum. I hope there will be other events like this. Especially around public holidays
Really like that you’ve made the sleep condition actually interesting - probably just something like that should be the default for abilities that would otherwise make you skip your turn - maybe ever during death saves 🤔
@@direden exactly - have you read any of Bleach? Ichigo has a few fights against sort of an avatar of death when he’s brought low during battle - probably not unique to those stories, but it seems like something we should be considering in D&D since it’s a way to make avoiding death more of an active process and because it’s cool as hell 🤘🏿
I'd describe the pearl trade off with the tongues as the receiver of the pearl using their tongue to meet the dying cultist's tongue halfway. I'd also have them trading the pearl back and forth at random points in the combat just to get more ick factor out of it.
09:23 Skum Dragon: there has to be some kind of mistake with the CR ^^ it can't be 1/2 Luckily you said it was based of Brass Dragon, I looked them up and saw the YOUNG brass dragon statblock t(that is CR 6) hat you reflavoured and reworked. Small mistake, happens, i was jus confused for a minute xD Good Video :) I especially like the "Fight your Nightmare" Mechanic thingy, and the Nightpearl. The Thing about the NIghtmare thingy: once they figure out that DAMAGE can wake one up from the nightmare, a spellcaster could throw 1 magic missile at a sleeping party member and essentially dealing 52 damage (to a tanky nightmareish summon, dispelling it)... or a monk could use one bonus action attack to wake someone up. Or they could set a part of their clothing on fire to deal 1d4 damage to themself each round (for example using "ALCHEMIST FIRE" ). It's usually worth it throwing a little bit of damage towards another player, to not make them spend 2-3 turns (or 4-5....) in a different encounter. It might honestly be worth to even throw a full action at another player, situationally. Also: the nightmare could use the statblock of the giant octopus, as mentioned, but instead of it always being a fight, it could also be a memory , a traumatic event? something that could be solved diplomatically, or with enough wisdom saves/skillchecks, ... or while fighting the octopus it could be reflavoured as their biggest fear, their biggest regret, or a thing that killed someone close (family member/friend/love/mentor?) i personally like it :) The Thing about the Pearl: Sure it might just be a reflavoured eldritch staff, but since it doesn' require attunement, can't autodestroy if it reaches 0 charges and can give +10 tHP it's much MUCH more powerful, but obviously since they pass it around before they die and two of it's abilities allow for greater survivability & escape, it should be hard enough to get ^^ plus it can be a good excuse to create a reoccuring villain - or maybe the Pearl ITSELF is a villain, and anyone who worshippes it becomes more powerful (=such a cultist), but gets slightly possessed by the pearl... yeah, i'd probably do it somewhere along these lines. Even if they get access to the magic item, they can only use if it they're risking to be possessed by their former villain/antagonist/BBEG?... and if they just contain it, they'll get chased & hunted by other cultists who try to get it back. Maybe it's just one of a kind, and there are multiple of those. Maybe it can get tracked. Maybe the pearl is a fragment of a sleeping god (like, one tenth or one hundreth fragment of the brain/soul/heart of a Kraken? idk) I'd be very careful with letting the players potentially loot such a powerful item, without a story drawback. Or literally just putting Attunement back would probably be a good enough fix tbh xD
