Yeah haha, I mean, it has a use, but it's just too finnicky to be practical. Imagine if they never changed it 😳 I think maybe they maybe overestimated how useful it was and in later games figured to make it actually practical.
@@HeadHunter455 it's actually good to not fight Rathalos in forest & hills area 9/10 as the monster will forget you as it will drink or eat. It helped me when I was first time playing MHF.

Yeah it took me a long time before I figured out they did anything haha, I don't remember when or how I figured out the eye thing, might have been on my own or from reading somewhere, but I figured this'd be good to know even as just a bit of trivia 😉

I think I've used Dung Bombs maybe once or twice in Rise, when I was doing some fishing. The rest of the time, another monster showing up is usually no problem, if not outright beneficial. You can either Wyvern Ride it for free damage and materials, or - if you have already - they just promptly nope right out of there. And if I'm doing a mining run, there's usually enough time for me to grab the goods and nope out of there myself.
Dung bombs are so finicky and bad in MHFU that their name sort of becomes self descriptive. I really hope that big MHFU mod patch that has been worked on for a while now manages to make dung bombs properly useful.
I noticed dung bombs’ effect or more accurately lack there of in the double green plessy quest, apparently it was mistranslated in French and therefore the description told me I only had to fight one, obviously when I got to it I noticed pretty quickly that there was more than one, I thought no problem and went back to get dung bombs What followed was only despair

Oh boy! can't wait to gather materials from black gravios, Oh whats this?! a quest with 2 black gravios? ezpz, would be a shame if dung bombs didnt work and they just proceed to hang out in one area right? :)
There is also the online myth that dung bombs only work on Khezu. I recall a live where you mentioned that you always get people telling that in the videos. I tested it, and Red Khezu attacks blindly its surrounds if the hunter stays inside the poo cloud, but normal Khezu ignores it completely. No idea how it can be useful (maybe gunners can keep shooting from inside the cloud?).
the only time i actually use these dung bombs is where i have to fight the couple rath. as soon as I saw shadow coming in while fighting the other rath, I will immediately throw one below the shadow before it lands to make it flee cuz fighting both of them at the same time would be annoying do deal with. other than that i use dung to my farm, but then again you can always buy worms from granny for fertilisers.
It doesn't do anything to Khezu. Oof! I have covered all of MHFU, maybe consider checking out my Khezu stuff? I'll try and make a multiplayer tutorial sometime soon, it's on my to do list.
The way they work is not quite how you think. There is a hidden value for area change that is set from about 0-2700. There is random variance per monster so lets just go with this number for ease of explanation. Monsters without awareness have this value set to 2659/2700. Monsters randomly gain 1 point around every minute out of combat. After which it resets to 2659. This is to keep monsters moving from area to area. A monster that enters combat with you by having the eye value appear has its area change value set to 0. It will slowly gain area change value as it takes damage, as it uses attacks and as time passes. Higher value attacks increase the area change value by larger amounts. This is why monsters like Rathalos often leave immediately after performing aerial fireballs and why Gravios often leaves after performing a beam sweep. How do dung bombs factor into this? In a really dumb way, dung bombs increase the transition counter by 10 per second that the monster stays within the cloud, but only if the dung bomb directly hit the monster and its not enraged. Interesting interactions: Elder dragons are immune to the effects of dung bombs. So is Khezu. Khezu has a unique mechanic where he actually is attracted to dung bombs. Throw one and he will attack the spot. Kushala can reflect them back onto a hunter while his wind barrier is active. Doing this is incredibly difficult. Congalala will respond to a dung bomb use by increasing the rate at which he throws feces or uses flatulence attacks.
I think it works on khezu the same way a flash bomb works for everyone else. But on the other hand... it´s khezu, you can do a no damage run on it easily as long as you dont slip due to the sheer drag of a fight that it is.
already know this 6 years ago. kinda feel weird hear people doesnt know this. i usually use dung bomb on bullfango, conga, or anoying small monsters area. and use it when do quest to hunt 2 bosses. if u have autotracker skill, its iseful.
It's nice it got added a real nice functionality in other MH games unlike this. No one would actually waste an inventory slot for that.

Yeah, worms work, but it's pretty annoying to use without being able to speed up the game IMO >.
Does the dung bombs works on Khezu since it can't see?
Read somewhere that it does not sure if its true tho
Its not, i already try it
There's a bit of a rumor about that, but no it doesn't, like Iliad X said.
It makes sense why people would think it does though, it'd be cool.
It's really a "shitty" design choice the way they work 😏

crazy how it was like that in fu

1. Does any of this change how I explained how it works in the video?
