Frontier's combat is all about learning movesets and mastering the fights, that's why i love it

@@sonofkorol it was just part of the moveset. Just so happened to move perfectly to not get hit. Kind of coincidence but mostly because peppo is longsword jaysus

Not coincidence that move is tricky to dodge while countering with ls and seems peppo got the perfect answer... Btw he does it twice in the run ;)

Yeah that's how you do it :D
Back in MHW, i would often use the Iai Sheathe animation to dodge Alatreon's dragon slam. It's something common to do with the longsword in some fights, if you are a master of them (modesty part, i was a master at hunting Alatreon)
@@PeppoLS i've seen this dodge with other JP LS players too like tarotaro and fu in their valstrax runs. i've been really intrigued as to how it works and would like to learn it as well

I'm currently studying this video. Since you have no gear, it allows shaggy to actually move and attack. This helps so much to learn these counters.

Speedruns should have always been a guide for non-expert players to learn the fight. However, with the recent extreme increasing of the hunter's power, speedruns just became locking the monsters. You don't even need to learn the pattern anymore. And that's sad imo. In the past I used to watch a lot of speedruns to try improving my gameplay taking inspiration by the runners, but nowadays I don't do that anymore: I couldn't be able to learn anything from the runs. And that's not because of the runner. Runners are great and they always try the highest damage setup to kill the monsters as fast as they can. Unfortunately though, in this way the hunts last few minutes, the monster generally doesn't have time to attack (this is more true with some weapon, less with others) and you end up watching something just to entertain yourself - which is great - but you won't learn anything. There, you see, it's why I don't like speedruns in Sunbreak anymore (elements of endgame's RNG like Qurio crafting and now even qurio charms don't help either). To me speedruns were always a tool to both entertain and teach the less experienced players on how to hunt monsters, showing how to deal with the attacks, how to evade/counter, etc. I feel like nowadays people can't learn anything from them anymore.

How would you put the strongest monster in the history of MH into the game that revolves around a virus which Disuforia would eat up and absorb as if it’s nothing? It’s the White God for a reason. That will stay a pipe dream.
I‘m only being this critical because I‘d kill to have Harudomerugu in the mainline games, which will also never happen, so let’s just both be depressed
@Avyrr it is a pipe dream but I want it I think It'd be awful if we never saw frontier monsters ever again. Those were THE best monster designs it'd be awesome if we saw Harudomerugu again great choice.

This is absolutely insane. How can you be that good?! Must be so satisfying to have such an flawless run like this. I actually cant believe that you prefer the old boring hunting style over this xD I mean I started with freedom as well and I loved it back then. But I once tried to play it again and nostalgia really was the only thing thats left. It felt absolutely aweful haha.

Thank you. I stopped streaming as I struggle a lot with focusing on both the chat and the run, but I do have intention to return streaming some day in the future.

You know i had this meaningful conversation with my mom the other day. She was shocked that i was still invested in playing video games, thought that i would have "grown up" and left them behind. Sometimes i even shut the console off just minutes after powering it on because i know i could be doing something else. Why do i do it? Why even buy a console? No one is paying me to play it. I cant walk around town or in a mall displaying the trophies that i collected. Why why why?
The answer is simple honestly. Because its FUN!!! i dont play video games for anything else than that. How we use our time on a day to day basis is completely up to us. I enjoy carting. I enjoy focusing on 1 part of the monster to get a certain piece. I enjoy looking through the list of crap i get from the argosy or the quest or the melding pot. Its my time and this is how i like to waste it.
In my opinion this is the worst video you have uploaded so far. I wasted my time watching this video.

I will now proceed to study this video until I have a vague idea how to replicate this style (which I love playing so much, even if I get most of my meter color from the end of the R2 combo) until I can fight Risen Shaggy 1/5th as well as this.
The hardest part of this fight for me has always been the extreme concentration required to play well, especially for LS.
Once your HP are down and need recovery, that's when everything goes extremely wrong.
Might as well run heroics for this fight for how hard it is to recover from mistake
Peppo, how many attempts on average do you spend on a run like this?
What some people don't understand about speedrunning is that it's not just about skill, it's about persistence too. If you've ever tried doing any sort of timed run, you'll find that executing is only one part... there's so many restarts and retries that are much more demoralizing.
We only get to see the finished product but there's a lot of time invested that we don't get to see.
I think I spend about 25 hours to get this, which is not a small time but it’s much less than some of my runs I did in the past

@@PeppoLS when doing these runs, do you spend that approximate 25 hours practicing on just the monster you're looking to Speedrun? For instance when perfecting this particular fight, did you spend that time on just this monster until you got the outcome you wanted?
Wondering if you can share how you can consistently counter the attack at 2:13 without getting hit? Is it purely knowing how to position yourself after the counter or luck? I'm always getting hit by the follow up slams or the explosions on the ground and its driving me nuts.

I think part of his runs kind of requires no buddies because his flow wouldn't work as well. To get as good as peppo, you'd have to play with no buddies to learn how fast you can counter and what you can counter

Definitely not as good as Shagaru's theme in the game, came in expecting that and was like what is this? I didn't know you could change it, maybe it's a mod.
@@darkinsanity98473 peppo most likely added the theme in post-production :) I watch some other hunters who put different music on their runs, as well. Just adds a personal touch is all.
